    I've just received my first non-pod coffee machine which was influenced by your more than any other TH-camr. The Deduce just seems the best balance of functionality vs cost. I bought used, and despite them saying there were problems with it, I simply cleaned it before first use and it seems fine (but it was really gunked up). This video is going to be a great help in setting it up. Thanks!

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner yes, I am currently binging your videos! I am coming from a little Saeco Aroma manual machine I’ve had since…2009? 😬 This is an upgrade in a lot of ways, certainly! I was confused by the pressurized filters it comes with though, so over time I’m guessing I may want to pick up the aftermarket portafilter you recommended as well. We’ll see how it goes!

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jocelynplemel2736 Hey Jocelyn, the pressurized filters were designed for pre-ground coffee beans, or if you have a grinder which cannot grind fine enough for espresso. The unpressurized filters on the other hand require a finer grind, so they will need a decent grinder. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Cheers, Tom

    • @jocelynplemel2736
      @jocelynplemel2736 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner that makes sense, as I do understand this machine is meant to be beginner friendly. I do have a somewhat decent burr grinder (though the Eureka you’ve shown looks amazing, but probably not justifiable for me at the moment). It’s too bad De’Longhi didn’t provide a simple option to swap out for a non-pressurized filter with the Dedica line.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jocelynplemel2736 That's true. I think it would be great if they would include one, too. But you can get some affordable baskets from Amazon. I included a link in the description. Can you let me know how this machine steams milk for cappuccinos? I am very curious to see it in action, actually.

    Hi Tom
    Thanks for the video, i set the volume set up every time i use my delongi for different coffee beans and grinde setting. But my friend recently bought dedica 685 , same device , but i cant set the volume by pressing and holding button every other setting can be done but not the simple one which is setting the volume.
    The device is brand new
    It also does not do the pre infusion some times
    I did default setting 4times and yet its not possible to set volume
    How can i fix it ?
    Thanks

    Do you have to have espresso in the basket in order to program shot volume? I programmed both of my buttons with an empty basket (just water flowing through) and every time I test another shot (full or empty basket) the weight is never the same.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner

      Right, you need to do it with coffee, because then there's resistance, which affects how the water counter works. Cheers!

    I have been some issues with this machine maybe you can help. It started with needing to descale which ive done twice now. The machine seems to sputter a bit. And takes a long time to start coming out. I can never seem to get more than a small amount of crema. Im not sure if this is a grinder setting for the coffee i have or a myriad of other potential issues like not even pressure, too short of a brew time so i need to press the button again which i assume resets the pressure as well. Any tips are appreciated! When i first got the machine and tuned the grinder to a nice setting for espresso things worked out really well. Not sure whats going on!

      Hi 👋 Emonez! How Long are you cooling down the boiler? You have to wait until water eventually comes out of the steam want. Then, the pump should turn off automatically, and you will be ready to brew an espresso.

      Hey there! You have to keep holding the button, until the desired amount has been reached. To do so, just press and keep holding the button while the espresso is extracting. Ideally use a scale, to know how much liquid you are extracting. Then, when the target amount has been reached, release the button. Cheers!

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately even with the trick you mentioned, nothing happens.
      Descaling Also doesn't last more than 5 seconds. there was no way to reprogram the amount of time for each process.
      i found a way thanks to one's comment to force the pump puch the water out to descale the machine.
      to do so :
      - turn off the machine
      - press and hold the one cup coffee button and turn the machine on.
      - press and hold both one cup button and steam button to force pump the water out. (keep holding the button to pump the water)
      - every 20 seconds switch the lever between steam mode and coffee mode
      - do this process for about 2 L of water.
      after doing this, i was able to reprogram the brewing time.

      Hey Ahmet! Could be too low of a pressure, too low of a temperature, maybe too much coffee in the filter as well. How many grams are you using, and at what temp?
      By the way, some beans will just tend to be sour as well. These pair well with cappuccino in my opinion.
