I remember this lesson before & I remember doing this action about 1-2 years ago but I forget this & turned my rotation after I hit making my body almost even with my swing...facing that target after hitting...but I am 3 months into my strike recovery...hopefully I will play again in a few months...sorry to have missed you...
thank you very much for this video! it´s really very clear! it´s a matter of feeling in the rotation and extension of the lead leg, at least for me.... I need to practice a lot but the feeling is almost there! thanks
This is so spot on for me now. My thought process has been at the point to begin the release to impact but afterward has been so forgotten and unclear. How you explained the hips and shoulder position at the start of release and then past that point all the way through is the explanation I really needed. After so many videos so many explanations I think this hit home the best. Thanks again!!
Great video Jonathan. Timing these elements is critical and getting everything in the release position quite complicated. Without the rotation of hip's and shoulder's pressuring the ball can never be achieved. Fortunately your video's are so explicit and easy to understand they give us the best chance to develop the necessary skills. Good job!!
Another great video, I was wondering have you a video regarding making the most use of your time i.e a ratio of putting, driving, short game, approach play?
Hi Jamie, I don‘t because it is different for everyone depending on your strengths and weaknesses. I could show you how I decide on the correct mix but it involves a lot of stats!
Just been drilling this JT, at home without a ball, I’m feeling that I’m doing some subconscious manipulation with my hands through impact, I suspect because I’m not getting my right shoulder down enough. Your point about it being a station that we need to pass through vs stop at resonates because I was hitting the position very well when I shot the 78, but sort of stopping at it, not fully releasing the club, leading to poor distance (but great accuracy tbh!). Will be doing this daily thanks for another cracking vid, can’t wait for the upcoming one on mental games/no thoughts over the ball, your PDF goes into wonderful detail on that which I’ve really tried to internalize
Wow. Took this to the course today. The release position and the act of using the legs to create the movement through it CREATES the right way to swing THROUH the ball, not at it. A total breakthrough. I was nutting every shot. Unbelievable content once again. Thank you JT! I can literally see a path to breaking par thanks to you.
I think that some kind of" impact - release feeling drills" could be useful - Something that has more and less lag - and more and less club handle path inside and upward at impact... kind of feels what a release actually feels like?
Extremely good video Jonathan. In my view, the key point of all this process is about understanding to what extend we must resist the tendency of the wrists to rotate, until at least 45° past impact. As we can see in your video, you don't allow your right hand to overturn and rotate, closing the club face, well after impact (you call it not "flipping"). Your club face is aiming well into the sky at this point of the follow-through. I find this very difficult, as this attempt puts a lot of pressure on my left knee and even limits the flow of the whole movement until a complete finish. I wonder whether it is a matter of physical ability (for a senior golfer..) or a matter of training hard. Thanks
It is probably a bit of both. If you are not able to turn your shoulders far enough to the target you either have to let your lead elbow bend or allow the club to overtake and your lower arms rotate. I would tend towards allowing the elbow to bend, it works for Jordan Spieth! But keep up the practice as well, just look at Gary Player:)
@@JonathanTaylor63 thanks a lot for your response. I've checked Jordan's slow motion swing in youtube, and in fact he is having a bit of "chicken wing", but we'll after post impact horizontal. So he is still able to keep a sky oriented club face for the whole follow. What a piece of work is swing (!)
I am confused because the move you are showing as incorrect at about 3:00 in this video, dropping the arms while keeping the shoulders closed, seems to be the move you were saying that must be made in your previous video "Change your hand path for a purer strike" below at about 2:15 where you say the trick is to drop the arms down to their deepest point (delivery position) before opening up the shoulders. th-cam.com/video/JlJ-KTku_Vc/w-d-xo.html
The difference is that I am not dropping my arms without turning my shoulders but rather using the shoulder turn to bring my arms down before the shoulders open and pull the arms back up and around my body. I totally understand that it is difficult to find a clear recipe for success on TH-cam but stick with it and feel free to ask questions or even request new videos to help you better understand the golf swing.
@@JonathanTaylor63 Ok, I know you have a video where you talk about using the latissimus muscle to rotate the shoulder and its attachment to the humerus, I will find that and study it and figure out how to turn the shoulders in the start of the downswing without opening them. Thanks.

The two camera view is very helpful.
I totally agree. Absolutely great. But how to wait for the exact release moment?
Absolutely, Great explanation on the release of the club during back swing and drills to accomplish. Keep them coming!!!! Thanks :-)
The last two videos are what I am working on. This is spot on for what a flipper and early extender needs to have ingrained in the swing. Thank you

Thanks a lot for the quality of your explanation.
Great distillation of the release point. I’m getting real close to making that feel with out thinking about it.
Great video. Really helpful, really made sense. I like it. 👍
Great explanation. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
Great stuff that's the most important part of the swing, you mentioned some key words a whole lotta practice

Isn't the movement you are showing at 3:12 that you are saying is incorrect Harvey Penick's Magic Move?

I have the idea that Fleetwood is using the thechnique of ‘stack and tilt’, if so is that the move of the new golf ?
I don't think so.
Thx
Great
Funny I'm just watching Fleetwood on the practice range at the Masters
Catch the ball with the club and release both!

Don’t worry about your shoulders opening too early, the side bend will pull your arms down, just keep your arms passive and let your body lead.
