  • Gear Used:
    -Squire 70s Vibe Stratocaster
    -Gretsch G6122T-62 Country Gentleman
    -Vox AC30VR Guitar Amplifer
    -TC Electronic Choka Tremolo Pedal
With the backing recorded on the 11th September 1963 (Lead and Rhythm Guitars, Bass and Vocals) followed the day after with over dubs (Tambourine, Woodblock, African Drum and Vocal)
Don't Bother Me is one of my favourite beatles song from With The Beatles! Yet another song with a common misconception. George was the lead guitarist of the Beatles, but reviewing the 11th September session, Take 11, George is heard calling the end of the take whilst the Lead Guitar riff is heard playing still ( • The Beatles in the rec... )
There are also many photos taken from the sessions that day, which shows John playing seating, with a footswitch at the ready to control the Tremolo control on his Vox Amplifer
This leaves the only possibility being that John played the Lead Guitar for this song on his Rickenbacker 325 (which I haven't got, so I used my Squier Strat), whilst George plays the Rhythm/Solo Guitar on his Gretsch Country Gentleman.
I have tried to keep the playing in this video as close to the original as possible! I hope you enjoyed, if you did, please subscribe, like and share!
Stay tuned for the next video ;)

Finally someone who plays a B major like on the record. Not even Ably House did that right

Yeah, this is one of those rare early moments where John played lead. George was too preoccupied singing to worry about playing anything elaborate.

This is the only good cover of this song, but even if there were a hundred more that also got the details right I’d still think this was the best. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us!

Outstanding cover Luca! Excellent to see the gent make its return in another video. Spot on job with the playing dude. Gotta say the combo of the gent and Strat sounded absolutely killer and definitely nailed the sounds of the recording.

@@LucaColaMusic Hell yeah I mean to me you can get very close to a Rick 325 sound with single coils, btw do you still have the Strat mini?

WOOO a cover that finally had John on lead. Sounds super good!! I also wanted to ask Is there flat wounds on the Stratocaster as well? I’m thinking about making the switch to flats once I get the means

Listening to the outtakes linked in the description it certainly seems like it was John on lead. The tone was also very similar to his 325!
