I watched this today twice. It’s so incredible that I tried it immediately after practising with Chess computer. I won 2 outright against 1200, drew 1 (after missing two winning moves) and lost 1 (after again missing a diagonal block). The games are “heavy metal” chess! AMAZING! 🥳🎸🤘
Start looking at what your opponent is doing, under 1400 it's a slugfest where neither playing is looking at what the other is doing until either a blunder or checkmate. You may have to switch to a slower time control to allow yourself to get into the habit of seeing what your opponent is doing, especially start spotting what tactics your opponent has. Also do your tactics and don't play for tricks.
@@douwehuysmans5959 Solid advice! I have been thinking the same. I have to remind myself to think of what plan the opponent might have, or how they might react several moves forward. Especially while it is their turn I have to remind myself to think, but sometimes my mind just wanders off which is what I think my main problem is. I do much much better in longer time controls, only there am I 1200. In lower time controls I revolve around 900 sadly.
The variations you discussed were played successfully by the 10th World Chess Champion, Boris Spassky. The King's Gambit has many tricky lines worth exploring!

Some of those knight sac g5 lines are so good even stockfish thinks you are winning. In practice is someone goes for g5 i have 90 percent win rate. But sadly its very rare to see someone play it, as your example games show
Would love to see you explore the 3. Bishop c4 line. It's a lot of fun and you get a bunch of great positions. The number of people who follow that with the Queen check and then immediately play bishop c5 is pretty hilarious. Just have to play d4 and have fun from there.

Yes this is probably the most common counter I see to the kings gambit the ex line . Technically it's better for white, but it's annoying.
