    I looked at this game and found Black's E pawn is the key for Black to win. Black blundered by NOT moving the E pawn forward. Eric, luck played a role in this win. It was very entertaining to watch. The key to this variation is to know when to cut and run with the material gained or the disruption made upon Black's ranks.

  • @paulgoogol2652

    The ponziani only really works because nobody plays it. A few years ago I had some people play it all the time on FICS and I knew that 3... Qd6 just neutralized all threats against the centre and white just had little ways of giving problems. Then nobody played it for years and I kind of forgot about it. f6 seems like the main move but it looks a bit weird.
    Basically d5 just equalized if you know how to deal with 3. Qa4 or Bb5. And it is just like one move and the rest is a breeze. Defending e5 any other way than with f6 or Qd6 the pieces get in each others way.

    • @rfrisart
      @rfrisart 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, 4..Qd6 looks the best (f6 is supposed to be good but it just doesnt feel right), but I guess it's also still very playable for white. e.g. 5.Na3?! is an interesting line

      I assume you mean on move 24?
      If Kxf7 then 25. Qxd7+ Kg6 26. Qxg4+ Kf7 27. Qxg3 and Black’s attack is dead, with 0 compensation for being down two rooks and a knight.
      Another line after Kxf7 25. Qxd7+ Kf6 26. Re6+ Kg5 27. Rxh6 Kxh6 and Black is now down a Queen with no attacking chances left, especially with both the knight and bishop hanging.
      Last main potential line after Kxf7 25. Qxd7+ Kf8 or Kg8 leads an immediate checkmate with 26. Re8#.
      There are potential other sub-lines after taking the bishop, but they all run into similar issues where white can neutralize black’s attack with a series of forced checks and then its game over for black, being down so much material. Took me a minute to figure it out myself. I would have never spotted the move 24. Bf7 as a good one in a blitz game. Such a savage move by IM Rosen, especially considering he played it so instantaneously and nonchalantly.

    Black could easily take his bishop by his king in 7:08 I mean that probably gonna help him a lot idk why he didn’t take it

      If black takes bishop with king, then white goes Qe7 and is either getting checkmate or a free queen. I thought what you were saying at first but after playing it out, it’s not a good option.
