People always say the grunfeld is a lot of theory so nobody plays it, so then when i play it and know like 6 moves white never knows what to do, its underrated, that being said i really love your kings indian explanations and would probably rather you continue with that
@@nickandrews2255I’m assuming you mean they play 1. E4 and you play Nf6 running into 2. E5. At that point you are playing the Alekhine Defense, not the Kings Indian. A good rule of thumb is that if there’s a pawn on e4 to make sure you have played d6 before putting your knight on f6, that way e5 is not possible
Its not exaclty How I would escribe what I say however you saying knight to d7 first as well as the pawn d6 to stop this. Here is what I was describing: (w) White, B (Black) wpe4 bpg6 wpd4 bbg7 wpf4 bpd6 so now if he makes whatever move then I go knight f6 he goes pawn e5 its cooked because he could still push my knight. You saying what you said had me think ok perhaps knight d7 for black so that we could double take with the knight however the queen and bishop are blocked here so its like how we work this? Great video. Started at 1500 two years ago. Learned your Caro Kann. Then started playing the Jobava. Now I’m at 2100. D4 defense has been lacking. Looking forward to more of these. Tremendous thank you for your teachings. It’s a blast playing at such a high level. I do prefer the kid over the grunfeld.

I really like how you suggest simplified lines for the Caro Kahn. If you can do that with the combinatorial explosion of the Grunfeld please do. With Caro you simplify most lines into Tartakower, exchange, or advance so i get a ton of looks at similar lines.

This video is brilliant, playing down among the bottom feeders as I do I rarely come across people playing the "correct moves". Playing the Pirc it is always handy to borrow ideas from the KID. I'd like to see a video on the Grunfeld and then I'll probably decide it's too much theory and keep playing the Pirc !
Since you have played the KID for such a long time, I'd much rather see more KID content from you since you have a gift for breaking things down into easy to remember ideas/themes. I think that would be harder to do with the Grunfeld, and plus I think it's more likely that we would see a KID chessable course from you in the future, so I vote for more KID videos 100%!

I like when you use other openings as a reference when you explained some move candidates. c5 like the Benoni was a candidate but you played a6 like the Najdorf.
I experimented with the grunfeld and it was great fun, but I did think that maybe it was a little complex or a bit too risky for low rated players. I played it in tournament and gambiting pawns in the opening didn't really work and I just lost a lot. That being said I'm sure you would cover it really well so do whatever you want Alex!

Na5 is played there only when it's actually threatening to win the c4-pawn. Placing your knights on the edge like that is super dangerous otherwise. It's a concrete line, gotta watch out for those little details (but it kinda makes sense).

Just had first chance to play that KID Qe8 idea. Won in 19 moves with a 96.2% accuracy score. Now I'm worried I will get hit for cheating ... although on the move I played it I discovered the engine (slightly) preferred e5/Re8 (or even Bb7 - I wouldn't normally be any where near a Q side fianchetto in most KID, but W had delayed Bd3) to Qe8 and I needed a waiting move (W seemed to have forgotten he was playing London and played Nc3 and then Nb1 to allow c3 ???) .

What about if your opponent goes e5 after we move our knight f3? It keeps happening to me it hurts my setup/play cheers for kings Indian
