honestly her growth is why I want to desperately hear her redo the V1 OST or at the very least the trailer themes. It's not that the old ones are bad by any means. Hell, they still go hard. But just imagine how much BETTER they would sound NOW, 10 years later
“I’m what inspires the fairytale” makes me feel like all of these characters will end up Like Oz and Salem, eventually being the in universe true stories that inspired the fairytales we know, rather than the other way around.
The difference in Casey’s voice is like night and day. It blossomed from the sweet bud to a beautiful rose. Complete with it’s thorns for that shout line.
I like that it shows how Ruby has moved from wanting to be just like Summer, to now being able to forge her own path, splitting off from Summer's and hopefully being more successful than she was in ultimately defeating Salem. While Part 1 established that Summer is gone, Part 2 reveals Ruby's goal is to be just like Summer (while Summer wishes for her to not wind up with her own fate), and the abandonment Ruby feels with the attachment to Summer. In Part 3, you can see the evolution from this to Ruby splitting off, as at the beginning Ruby looks for Summer to guide her, and by the end she has recovered her resolve, determined that she's not going to be exactly like her mother (especially after she learns how she saw Summer was idealized instead of reality), and guide her own way. She'll become her own fairytale instead of a chapter of Summer Rose's tale What I want to see come of this, is Ruby being able to fight harder, and win more often against human opponents, like Mercury and whoever they bring in to replace Emerald and Neo on Salem's side (if they bring anyone, because it would be interesting to see that in her drive to eliminate everything, Salem isolates herself and drives off a lot of her support. In turn, Salem just thinks that she doesn't need anyone at this point, and can just do it all with Grimm, thus not replacing her losses). I don't want her to be magically overpowered because she was in the tree or something, but as the fight against the Cat showed, she has some of her old style back, and with it the ability to adapt and overcome intelligent and strong opponents (because let's face it, part of her problem was expecting that her opponents would take hits like Grimm do, and not being able to handle dodging and counterattacks). I suppose the superpower she gains from the tree, if anything, would be that resolve to forge her own way and defeat Salem for once and for all.
If they do bring in another villain, I am placing my bets on it being Carmine from the books. She's a force to be reckoned with, was in Vacuo for two books, is still at large, and will do whatever it takes to survive.
That was one of the main themes of volume 9. We got to see exactly how much pressure she was under by her own expectations of what she should've been (been like Summer) and how it was tearing her up. We also saw the inner conflicts of all the characters who fell, but Ruby's was the most focused.

@Savannah_Simpson I do agree that RLR3 and other new songs have a more OK Goodnight feel, due to the songs being a reflection of the artists personal styles. (Not Jeff Williams). However, it feels a bit diminishing to say it's songs they just "threw" onto this soundtrack.
@@Savannah_Simpsonawake, used in vol 8, was the most RWBY-like Ok Goodnight song so far, and one of my favorite songs from RWBY. She has just found her way out of the fairy tale she trapped herself in, where heroes are always perfect and never lie, cheat or lose. Now she needs to find herself properly and also finish the task she has set before her.
Red Like Roses is complete for now, but I'm predicting we'll get one last part in the series finale. Part 1 establishes the legend of Team RWBY, Parts 2 and 3 are the arc of Ruby's identity in relation to her mother, and so I imagine Part 4 would mirror Part 1 in being about the team, how far they've come, and how their legend will live on. Parts 1 and 2 are the beginning of Ruby's heroic tier, and Part 3 is the culmination of her paragon tier, so Part 4 will be the culmination of her epic tier. It will be at once a return to the beginning and a transcendence to the ideal.
if there is a part four i really hope it flows into/from part three like how part two really did feel like a continuation to part one. then it would make a nice pair of double-songs where one is where ruby realizes the world isn't as kind as she thought/hoped and potentially one where ruby realizes it's okay that the world is cruel because she and her friends can be the light for others to find their way [and of course help each other and themselves out]
@@kallistiravenhurst5232I agree. I was really hoping the transition into part 3 would be as seamless as the transition into part 2. I think everyone is kinda missing the fact that RWBY music is a story in and of itself. The first one is obviously the weakest story wise but you can infer character from the wide open sounds, then in part 2 it becomes more cramped and internal because of her conflicting with her own self image and when her arc is finally made whole the song has more closed off and cramped sounding instruments, she loses the happy fairy tale feelings the first had because she now sees the world for what it is. She finally learns the weight behind what she said in I think volume two about being the people who make sure OTHERS can live their happy fairy tale lives. She realises she isn't a hero, she is a huntress. And her stuff becomes more focused and cramped. It's also synthetic because of penny and her connection to this conflict of self.
That's the best part of the soundtrack as a whole, it's all the characters canon thoughts during the show. Instead of internal monologs, they gave it to us through the soundtrack.
@@HoplessNihilistI think black trailer had that pretty prominently, considering the song was basically a narration of what was happening, and the full version goes into more Blake's thoughts on what she was doing.

One aspect I think is missing in the conversation surrounding this trilogy is how one can easily tell the differences between Cassey and Jeff both as musicians and as main producers for the soundtrack. Bro, I remember seeing the Red Trailer for the first time on the RvB Season 10 Finale alone in my room. Then I played the trailer on loop in my car on my way to and from school, trying to understand what the lyrics were vecause no one posted them anywhere. 😅 I was so excited for this show. But it was absolutely NOTHING like I thought it was going to be from the start. I thought Ruby was going to be the silent and emotionless character, and she ended up as the exact opposite. 😅 I REALLY wish that I was able to enjoy the series more than I actually did. But I think that I stopped getting excited after season 3. But this is how things are now. Oh well. 😔 😊
You know, I just realized that we have Red like Roses parts 1-4 and Mirror Mirror 1-3. But I Burn has only 2 versions from what I remember. And From Shadows has no other variations. Yang and Blake pretty much have no musical comebacks with their theme songs from the early volumes.
Red like roses has 3 parts, mirror has 3 parts, Blake only really has from shadows I think, Yang has I burn (yellow trailer), armed and ready (volume 4) and ignite (second Yang short and the Adam rematch). Blake has definitely been shortchanged in the music department, she only has 1 song to the others 3.
It took almost a decade... The trilogy is now together. And perhaps we'll get a fourth and final song when RWBY comes to its finale. Decade of memories with the RWBY series is hitting hard with all these foreboding "the end of the series is nigh" from RoosterTeeth. Less than four volumes left, I reckon.
If rumors are true, were going to at least get to volume 12. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I stumbled upon a supposedly leaked storyboard snippet from volume 12. Like I said, it's just rumors, but I'd like to think it's more likely than not. This series is one of the best shows as a whole out there, and I'm excited to see what happens next.

@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 that, and also, there's really not much to be tackled at Vacuo. Most of the lingering and interesting plot points were pretty much ended with Atlas. The White Fang and general Faunus stuff stopped being relevant with Mistral, and any major opposition died with the SDC (Vacuo and Vale seem pretty chill). There's no villains with motives tied to Vacuo like Watts, Hazel, or Cinder (at most there's Qrow's beef with Tyrian). There is nothing interesting about Theodore (that we know of) that can hold 3 volumes like the others. The summer maiden might aswell be sign saying "free powers here" given the show's track record. Legit Vacuo will be mostly reunions and battle. The only reason I suggest the idea of going back to Vale is because of the Crown of Choice and the wyvern is still petrified.
I swear I just wanted to listen to Red Like Roses (trailer version) randomly. I didn't know there was a three parter, nor the fact that this was posted just 3 days ago.
Amazing bro, we finally got red like roses part 3, the chills and nostalgia is now filled inside me lol, but do you have the lyrics of part 3? Because I wanna do a video of red like roses part 3 with the lyrics
I first heard Casey just after my Mom died. The virus.. I didn't save her. 😞 We made a sword dancing video using these first two songs dedicated to her memory. I cannot listen to any of them without losing my sh*t and breaking down.. but they are just so incredibly beautiful. Thank you for this. 👊 We will inevitably steal it for the next annual dedication video.
I’m sorry for your loss. This song is a therapy for me as it reminds me of my feelings when I lost my mother in 2016. I couldn’t listen to the first two parts at first without breaking down but I’ve slowly been able to listen to them without sobbing. The 3rd part really helps as I’m in that stage in my life where I need a pick me up.
I finally got around to watching V9 a few weeks ago, several months after it came out. I got through the start of the season, and felt a bit disappointed, but didn't hate it or anything. The middle of the season was decent, and enough to keep my attention. Then the last three or four episodes happened. I was really wondering at that point when the story would pick up, and how they would resolve the situation in the handful of episodes left to them. I was concerned the end would be a rushed flurry to get the plot situated for V10. Instead, they were some of the best episodes of RWBY I've seen. I had gone from passively enjoying the music and humor to again being really, genuinely invested in the story. And, as I was reconsidering my opinion on the season as a whole, Guide My Way came on. The callback in the leitmotifs, the timing, the animation was all a perfect storm to sell that ending and made me genuinely love the season.
i have a theory, no idea if it has been thought of before, wouldnt doubt it if it has been. summer rose was a maiden and before she died her last thoughts were of the one she cared for and loved the most. now who would that be?
Iirc, we haven’t seen the fourth maiden, so while it’s a nice theory that Ruby could be the fourth maiden, I don’t think I’d like the fact that Ruby also has maiden powers along with her Silver Eyes. ... although, I totally wouldn’t be surprised if the end goal would be for each member of Team RWBY to get the power of the maidens (at least temporary). Possibly even to stand up to Salem holding all of the artefacts
This isn't yust songs, this is history, a start of a journey, a death of a special person, and a revenge and calm end, did I was the only one noticing this?
I didn't notice that I like how it told a story a young hero who lost a family member then they go on this grand journey with twists and turns and friendship they have made along the way.
i dont think part 3 is meant to be played right after part 2, unlike how part 1 and 2 seamlessly flow into eachother. i think its just under the red like roses name because of the theme, lyrics, etc it WOULDVE defo been cool to have it continue from 2 i just dont know how thatd be possible considering 2 ends "abruptly" - it has an ending, unlike part 1 which has both an ending and a continuation i am rambling way too much wow these songs are simply really good
@cookikomori that's true. It's inconsistent. I wish they gave prominence to Ruby's motif instead of playing it for a few seconds. Doesn't feel like red like roses at all, at least to me.

On a thematic level I like how the songs connect. Ruby wanting to follow in the footsteps of the forgotten (part 1), Ruby’s frustration of not living up to her image of her mother (part2) and Ruby coming to terms and forging her own path (part 3). It also matches musically as 1 builds into 2 but 3 breaks the tension for something different. But man part 3 sucks. It’s not bad , but it’s not good either. I think my problem is that part 3 feels too… different, for lack of a better word.
It's a very different tempo that kinda breaks things a lot, it should've sounded more like a sequel to the other two, though I guess that might be hard without being repetitive
If only the show was good I would be more happy about this but unfortunately we got the trilogy but in doing so have it in the later seasons where the writing gives me cancer

That SOLO in 3 is so satisfying with earbuds.
That last song, joke, might be my favorite song in almost this entire show, man. It is so impowering
Ten years later....the trilogy is complete
Finally, after all this time I have them all
Surprised how well connected are all the two first parts
What happens if I choose me?
Then that girl is enough
Bro, I remember seeing the Red Trailer for the first time on the RvB Season 10 Finale alone in my room. Then I played the trailer on loop in my car on my way to and from school, trying to understand what the lyrics were vecause no one posted them anywhere. 😅
I was so excited for this show. But it was absolutely NOTHING like I thought it was going to be from the start.
I thought Ruby was going to be the silent and emotionless character, and she ended up as the exact opposite. 😅
I REALLY wish that I was able to enjoy the series more than I actually did.
@@NightHunter571 Blake has 3 parts
@@Seraph314 what are they? The only one I know is from shadows.
I can’t believe i started watching this show when i was 8 im 19 now
The way the whole thing blends together is just ✨✨✨✨✨
Grunkle Stan: Finally, I have them all.
@@everettbernsen46Show me
@everettbernsen46 12 or 14 volumes seems to be the general assumption. Either 3 for each kingdom or that + a final season or two
@@hamstersandwich9917 With how things are going at RT atm, if they were smart they'd end at 12. I also can't see them spending more filler Volumes getting back to Vale or something
Almost 14 minutes of straight heat
The red like roses part 2 is my favorite
Rooster Teeth was shut down today
yep
So proud that we got all of RWBY red like roses all parts🎉
I swear I just wanted to listen to Red Like Roses (trailer version) randomly. I didn't know there was a three parter, nor the fact that this was posted just 3 days ago.
Amazing bro, we finally got red like roses part 3, the chills and nostalgia is now filled inside me lol, but do you have the lyrics of part 3? Because I wanna do a video of red like roses part 3 with the lyrics
Cassie published the lyrics on Twitter!
@noxactis8011 well I do not have Twitter lol

I first heard Casey just after my Mom died. The virus.. I didn't save her. 😞 We made a sword dancing video using these first two songs dedicated to her memory. I cannot listen to any of them without losing my sh*t and breaking down.. but they are just so incredibly beautiful. Thank you for this. 👊 We will inevitably steal it for the next annual dedication video.
Sorry to hear that, what's the video?
I’m sorry for your loss. This song is a therapy for me as it reminds me of my feelings when I lost my mother in 2016. I couldn’t listen to the first two parts at first without breaking down but I’ve slowly been able to listen to them without sobbing. The 3rd part really helps as I’m in that stage in my life where I need a pick me up.
Thank you so much for putting these together! 🌹 Perfect transitions! Was not expecting the drums to tie parts 2 and 3 together so well. 🌟
The cut into the songs are literally perfect. 👌
The first part of part 3 was reminding me of The Shins. The sound track of RWBY is such a gift.
I can’t believe how far the series has gone
Can't wait for part 4
i love how everyone has like crazy meanings for these songs while i just listen to them cos they’re good
I honestly hope the final fight will have her entire OST playing
This song always gives me chills
Thank you!!
Gods i remember watching the original Red trailer. Glad to see how far the show has come.
Finally, after all these years, I have them all
The last 3rd of part 3, where the drums and guitar shredding come in, sounds like an epic battle for either Salem or Cinder.
It is an epic fight, philosophically and physically. (Can't give spoilers, you have to watch the show...)
@@JamesBarcus How do you know that exactly? Do you work on the team for RWBY?
@@swigmcale7555 because its in the show??
Finally, after all these years. We have them all.
Welcome back, RWBY 🌹
3:35-4:38 I NEEEEEEEED to learn that
Took a while but she got there
This isn't yust songs, this is history, a start of a journey, a death of a special person, and a revenge and calm end, did I was the only one noticing this?
I didn't notice that I like how it told a story a young hero who lost a family member then they go on this grand journey with twists and turns and friendship they have made along the way.
Chilling out here until Volume 9 returns to spotify
So red its borderline Crimson
Eh, at least it ain’t lightish red
who's here after the Viz announcement?
Edelwiss has a lyrics video for 3.
When I saw Jeff Williams, I thought it was Ask Jeff Williams, the Geologist/Miner guy lol.
Just realized in the red like roses part summer rose is singing, thought it was all from the perspective of ruby before
ruby has grown up
If it turns out after all this time that it was _Raven_ talking to _Ruby_ I will officially die laughing.
...ok I may need to actually watch the show now for what the hell part 3 is on about
Do you want spoilers? Lol
Now we have a third, but now we gotta see if theres a way segway into the third one

As much as I appreciate them finally releasing Part 3, It feels like it's own song as opposed to parts 1 and 2...

Indeed I am
part 4 when ??
When you realize they skipped I Burn Part 2
Not gonna lie, 3rd sounds like a plane dogfight
Ace Combat: RWBY Wings.
Part 3's intro seems so abrupt 😢
i dont think part 3 is meant to be played right after part 2, unlike how part 1 and 2 seamlessly flow into eachother. i think its just under the red like roses name because of the theme, lyrics, etc
it WOULDVE defo been cool to have it continue from 2
i just dont know how thatd be possible considering 2 ends "abruptly" - it has an ending, unlike part 1 which has both an ending and a continuation
i am rambling way too much wow
these songs are simply really good
@cookikomori that's true. It's inconsistent. I wish they gave prominence to Ruby's motif instead of playing it for a few seconds. Doesn't feel like red like roses at all, at least to me.
I think an official soundtrack later could give us an edit that smoothens the transition.
@@matt0044 true. i love all the songs in this trilogy so far so i wouldnt mind a 4th that makes the 3rd make more sense in the context of red like roses. maybe for the show finale whenever that happens to be

Theirs a 3rd part?
Compared to the others i think part 3 is a solid 7/10 the start is slow but thending of part 3 is amazing the whispered "i am what insipired the fairy tale" i was prob best part..just the vibe was very different then part 1-2 which i think is good it is showing the growth of the character, she's not the same as her past.
Does anyone else think of Pirates of the Caribbean halfway through part 1? Just me?
You must work for CRWBY. How else did you get your hands part 3 before official release?
Spotify depending on the region
Other timezones exist.
It was released on Spotify by timezone
On a thematic level I like how the songs connect. Ruby wanting to follow in the footsteps of the forgotten (part 1), Ruby’s frustration of not living up to her image of her mother (part2) and Ruby coming to terms and forging her own path (part 3).
It also matches musically as 1 builds into 2 but 3 breaks the tension for something different.
But man part 3 sucks. It’s not bad , but it’s not good either. I think my problem is that part 3 feels too… different, for lack of a better word.
Yea same man, if it wasn't called part 3 then it wouldn't be bad but as a successor to part 1 and 2 imo it doesn't fit well
It's a very different tempo that kinda breaks things a lot, it should've sounded more like a sequel to the other two, though I guess that might be hard without being repetitive
Casey better than Taylor Swift
"inspired the fairy tale" is this referring to jaune
guide my ways amazing but i feel like they didnt rlly fit together that well
whatdoi know tho lol
If only the show was good I would be more happy about this but unfortunately we got the trilogy but in doing so have it in the later seasons where the writing gives me cancer
God damnit. I love the red like roses motif so much. I really wanted to love Guide My Way. I really wish the writing behind that song wasn't just "ruby was sad and has decided to not be sad". What should've been one of the best moments in the entire franchise just fell so flat for me
I don’t know. Part 3 doesn’t hit as hard for me as 1 and 2 you know?
Part 3 is so weird. It doesnt match 1 and 2.
its been 7 years between part 2 and part 3. its not meant to match, its not even called "red like roses part 3". its only called that because of the piano and that one line
@@EthanThomsontechnically it is credited as "Guide My Way(Red Like Roses Pt 3)" so it is a Red Like Roses. Also, it's just not written by Jeff, so it's gonna be different vibes all around. I wish they had written to line them up, but I'm happy to have this anyways.

Part 3 doesn't even fit to the rest of the song.
Wow how disappointing part 3 was :(

In reality, it was the management who were homophobic and actively suppressed the ship until allegations of mistreatment at Rooster Teeth surfaced. Only then did they permit the writers to have creative freedom, but this change came too late. The implicated management was replaced just a few months before the release of RWBY Volume 9.
There's only two parts.
