first architecture review of the semester, two pin-ups in two weeks [college architecture vlog no.3]

- lots to do with two pin-ups on consecutive weeks, but we manage nonetheless ^^ the first pin-up was precedent analysis, and the second pin-up was our very first attempt at using the precedent analysis to make our own designs and tackle the project design prompt. compared to most pin-ups, these two reviews were very informal and had very light deliverables. outside of what was filmed, i went to church and exercised at the gym on weekends. during the week between the two pinups, i dealt with my broken laptop issues (switched from borrowing my friend martin’s laptop to my friend jeff’s laptop) and worked on homework for my other classes. not pulling all-nighters or drinking coffee/energy drinks was a goal of mine this semester, and although i didn’t stick to it for the entire spring, i was still doing a pretty good job at this time. i hope this video was interesting to you all; please leave any questions and comments down below!

I'm doing interior design at an arts uni in london right now and it's a similar setup to the course. Seeing this is so inspirational as it reminds me of my previous university where I shared a studio with the architecture students and I know how hard working they are and the long studio hours it takes to produce this quality of work. However at my current course there's nowhere near the effort being made apart from myself and it's quite sad to see. My coursemates question why I work so hard or produce so much work but I know others work harder than me in other unis. I truly respect this type of work ethic and wish I was surrounded in an environment like this, as it builds each other up wanting to achieve the best and stand out.

I just graduated with a B.Arch 2 weeks ago and seeing this made me remember my early years in school and I'm in awe how I survived all that for 5 years 🥲 Architecture school is long and gruesome, so make the best memories (even in bad situations) while in it since you can't avoid it anyways!

@@temporariacheck6243 hahahahhah eu estudo na UFAL, aqui em Alagoas. nossa grade, imagino que no Brasil inteiro, parece ser menos exigente que a dos vídeos do Andrew, e a infraestrutura das universidades não costuma ser tão completa. mas sim, ainda é uma graduação extremamente cansativa. é um curso que você tem que se apaixonar pra terminar, muito técnico, detalhista e exigente, mas também muito recompensante e com espaço pra explorar seu lado artístico. se você sonha em cursar Arquitetura, vá em frente, é um mundo maravilhoso, mas uns aninhos de café e privação de sono te aguardam hehe

I’d love to hear how you decided to study architecture. I‘m currently preparing to apply to architecture but for some reason I have my doubts.
