I just wanted to say that in my county we choose the type of school when we are 14/15/16 yrs old and I chose architecture and interior design (I study at a pretty prestigious school) and its pretty hard for me. Yasss, I need this for my final year at university, it's great that your getting all these sponsors🎉🎉 also, thank you for sharing about yourself, it's not easy putting your whole life out there, but atleast we can connect a bit better with you 😊😊 Question: what do u wanna call your supporters/subscibers? Like I'm tryna think of a word but it's not coming to me 😂😂 Another Q: what would you say is the best way to land internships and gain experience, because I'm in the works for one, but I wanna know how I can be more efficient in getting one. Also about dating, I thinks it's very hard to date during uni, like I'm trying to focus on myself first, and my education but trying to find someone who is just as passionate about what they want to do and making time for them can be stressful... I'm glad I'm seeing this video. I just got into my first year of architecture and it's amazing. It's really a family major. Making connections really help even if the work load is a bit much. I'm in my first term. I started studying architecture because I always liked the subjects and wanted something more dynamic. In the beginning it's always difficult because I always compare myself and think that the veterans are more artistic and intelligent, but I'm trying to fit in better at college and the pace of study, thanks for the advice and for producing good content about architecture 🇧🇷
I am studying UX/UI design, but I am very interested in observing other creative professions. And I like that I understand you in many ways, I especially liked the part about the balance between absorption in study and rest, it's really important not to lose motivation to live and get up every morning to achieve new goals :)
Dang the way you describe how you were into CS at first rlly struck with me. Cause I'm a junior in hs right now and I've basically spent most of highschool contributing towards majoring in CS but I always had architecture in mind. I'm an artist and so architecture has always looked shiny to me but I always see people talking about it in a negative light, (like, "you study as much as a doctor does but you make less than them" idk if that's true.) Even now, I feel like I invested way too much in STEM just to drop it for architecture which I'm not even prepared for. But with more research i think I'll be able to choose a path. For anyone else in a dilemma like me, don't give up on searching for your passion.
As far as the workload goes, you do definitely study as much as doctors but what you're actually doing in that time is far less tangible. The "problem" with architecture is that since the projects are subjective, the cornerstone of each is the creative idea behind it. What tends to happen is that you spend so long trying to come up with an idea you're happy to proceed with that its normal to spend a few all nighters doing the required CAD work to communicate the idea to your tutors and finish the project. It can be extremely frustrating when you realise its almost impossible to just sit down and complete your work. Architecture is described as more of a "lifestyle" because you always have to be looking for inspiration in EVERYTHING to try and make sure the ideation process takes as little time as possible and that way you can get your work done on time. Anyway, basically if you're choosing between a STEM major and Architecture I would consider the following: Do you prefer to allocate reasonably set time periods where you can complete readings and memorisation to complete your work, OR are you willing to put up with a more abstract and unpredictable workload (could be less or more hours then med school day to day) in order to allow for some creativity? In the end, architecture can be frustrating because even if you think your idea is amazing and you've done all the CAD work within the allocated timeframe, your tutors may just simply not see the same value in it and you can be graded lower despite your best efforts. HOWEVER, architecture in the workforce is much less abstract and a lot more technical. Unfortunately, architecture IRL is less about creativity and more about CAD proficiency and the building code. If this sounds dull to you I wouldn't recommend architecture. Last thing, yes architects do unfortunately get paid less then doctors, lawyers, and engineers. The other parts are heavily romanticised and this leads to lots of graduate architects becoming disenchanted once they get into the workforce. In conclusion, if you're willing to put in the hours (a LOT of them) to develop a smooth creative process, and then tough out 4-5 years as a CAD monkey in the workforce, then you'll start to gain some creative control of projects and your pay will increase to a decent amount (still less then the common professions). If that sounds worth it to you, then I would definitely do architecture. PS. currently deciding between med school and architecture myself, I've only done first year architecture and a 6 month internship in a following gap year, but I've spoken and interviewed countless professionals in architecture and other fields to see how it compares. Interestingly, a few adults wish they did architecture, but most architects tend to be unhappy with their job and its compensation. Not all though :)
@@madebyicarus I am also thinking between medicine and architecture, and with what you said now I am much more afraid of choosing architecture, at first I was very interested in computing but I stopped thinking about it. This decision is really difficult, I like everything, I'm "good" at everything, but I don't feel comfortable and motivated to choose my future :(
Yeah that basically describes me as well, "good" at everything but not incredible at anything or worse at anything to the point where its obvious which path to take. I can't really vie you any advice yet unfortunately since I've been stuck on this decision for a couple of years now. I think its ultimately true that all jobs are hard, and you are unlikely to find a job you "truly" love so it's better to pick the higher paying ones. This is only untrue if you have a particular burning passion for another avenue because this passion will potentially lead you to making more money. I guess for me, I want a job that gives me enough time to gym, play sports, make art, and socialise. The reality is that all jobs of this nature either don't pay well, or require you to sacrifice some of these things for an extended period of time during your life. I'm not happy to accept either of these really which is why I'm stuck on a decision. @@genesisvelez4931
@@madebyicarus Ah, I see. You explained it in such a sensible manner that I can now see more of both sides. It made me realize I was viewing architecture through a romanticized perspective. I feel like all that creative thinking isn't for me, I would lose my mind. I understand now when artitechts always sound so depreseed lol. Thanks for your input, I hope you're able to choose between med school and architecture. Don't lose hope haha
As someone third year in college cs and has always had art history/architecture in the back of their mind, my advice is take a mix of classes your first year. My biggest regret was not taking a good mix of classes even though I did take one art history course. So, definitely explore and don't be afraid if you do choose and decide to change. CS and architecture are both very hard but I'd rather spend so much effort to feel proud of my product rather than like im just trying to get by. I'm already contemplating my second major switch.
i wasn't really sure about choosing architecture but ur vlogs (specially this one) helped me a lot. plus i like how your voice sounds relaxing, i dont think is monotone.
i agree with your advice on including a buffer time when planning a strict schedule, i also do them because i know im not really in control of what the future may hold. inititativeness and future-orientedness are real essential for consistent and flexible performance

I’ve been looking into a major in Architecture here in Canada, and I’m stressed because I didn’t apply myself in high school, and I’m now regretting it because the admissions here are so high. Keeping myself motivated because of your videos :) you got this!
First time I'm commenting on a video lol. Just wanted to say that your high school stats are outstanding, I could never imagine taking 14 AP's. I'm in my senior year and I took max like 4 Ap's all throughout my high school experience. I can definitely tell you've worked incredibly hard and put in a lot of effort to get to be where you are now and it's so inspiring. I also would like to add that your videos are so relaxing and calming, I just went through your Architecture vlog playlist and I can't help but admire how hard you work, the motivation, effort, and perseverance you have to continue pushing yourself to work harder leaves me in awe. You are an amazing role model who people can look up to and appreciate. Thank you for all the wonderful videos you've given us here on You tube, keep up the good work Andrew! 🙂
You are a very encouraging person and such a role model in so many ways, thanks for inspiring us!! And also thx for answering me!! Love ur vlogs and your cool transitions ^^
stats popping off. my unweighted isn’t as good as the 3.99, but it isn’t that bad either. got two years left so imma do my best. great video man! (btw AP Calc AB freshman year is actually insane tho lol)
thank you for making an effort to answer all the questions, you are really sweet! and i also thank you for your advices, they helped me a lot as i'm starting college soon
When I was applying to universities I applied with architecture as a major, but switched because I didn’t feel I would be talented enough in an artsy major. Although it’s pretty sad walking by that building at uni, I live vicariously through Andrew’s experience so it doesn’t feel like I’m missing out😭. Only videos I get excited to watch these days
I am not interested in going to architecture school but still I lovee watching all your videos you're the only one (study vlogger) whom I watch and whose not a medical student my question was a bit silly loll but it was nice to see it being included in the video the real question i would have was how to have a active social life I have seen your relationship with your friends is so pure and sweet you all care about each other for me i don't have many friends and the ones I do have are not that close I think its my fault cuz I have trust issues even while making friends but yeh i would just love to know how I could be less awkward and more open to people and make close friends (btw i love your videos it makes me relax everytime and also gives me knowledge about architecture school which is super interesting cuz I really admire architecture students)
it's probably my first time commenting on your videos, you have such a good energy, now I'm watching your videos on weekends and they are a source of comfort to me, nice to know that you're a Christian, you're a really nice person (even that I don't know you personally) I wish you success and I hope you are resting because I can tell you are very busy, anyway, thank you for your videos 💭💌
Hey Andrew, I find myself relating to your situation a lot (little design background before joining architecture, small portfolio) and when I saw your finals season video, I was very impressed and was wondering how you manage having to rework/restart your project with ease so close to deadlines? I also relate to what you said about coming to terms with imperfection and presenting a work that's not your best, so would you have any advice on that? Thanks a lot for these videos, they mean a lot to archi students like myself!
This might be kinda random but I'm so happy you mentioned you've been dating before in college. I feel like a lot of study creators online seem to preach this anti dating lifestyle where you're only focused on your own goals and I find that a bit unrealistic and off putting at times. Now hearing someone as successful and dedicated like you saying you're dating as well, it makes me feel a lot better about not wanting to give up dating for school!
i'm impressed by your outlook on life and how you handle things and honestly i could learn so many lessons from you Andrew. thank you for having this Q&A even though it would have been a lot of work gathering all the questions and answering them, you're as hard-working as ever :) i'm looking forward to your next vlog ^ - ^

i compare myself to others ALOT... like its just at the point that everyone i look at ,, i look at them as a competitor. its really sad and toxic but i am like this :( i try not to compare myself and see myself as lower and as someone who can never be or do something like what the other person did ,, but the thoughts come so naturally that i dont even realize i am doing it at this point,
Yes this is a while back but I am inspired to keep myself looking forward in life. Somewhere in the far future! I love this thought cause its what help me move forward and you are someone who do that. I mean even when things are hard you are more focus on the goods things than the bad.
I'm already contemplating my second major switch.
i wasn't really sure about choosing architecture but ur vlogs (specially this one) helped me a lot. plus i like how your voice sounds relaxing, i dont think is monotone.
i agree with your advice on including a buffer time when planning a strict schedule, i also do them because i know im not really in control of what the future may hold.
inititativeness and future-orientedness are real essential for consistent and flexible performance
i've been wanting to pursue architecture since im 7 years old and you have inspired me to not give up on my dream, i found your channel while i was searching for like "a day in a life of an architecture student" because i really want to know what it's like to study in that major, since then i've been watching your vlogs a lot, thank you for always uploading, keep doing it 🤍
this guy has become very productive with his videos! It's great but also rest to enjoy it ❤
Thank you so much. I'm interested in studying architecture, but i did not do art . i have a few more months before submission dates, so i'll use the time to work on something. God bless
yo my boy literally being the king of consistency fr fr frrrrrrrrrrrr thanks a lottttt
!!
I’ve been looking into a major in Architecture here in Canada, and I’m stressed because I didn’t apply myself in high school, and I’m now regretting it because the admissions here are so high. Keeping myself motivated because of your videos :) you got this!
His favorite thing 👍🏼👍🏼
the very interesting part in my life is to watch Andrew's daily life :)
We have something in common 😃
I have watched you since we were just first years, and now we are both third year students…. Time flies!
Ayyy i hear that lil Seven backtrack at the beginning

andrew ur videos always cheer me up after a hard day of school and u inspire me to do well, and also major in arch.
When I was applying to universities I applied with architecture as a major, but switched because I didn’t feel I would be talented enough in an artsy major. Although it’s pretty sad walking by that building at uni, I live vicariously through Andrew’s experience so it doesn’t feel like I’m missing out😭. Only videos I get excited to watch these days
what did you apply to?
amazing 💥❤🔥
I want your dedication and positivity in life. OMG
I always enjoy your videos. I get inspired by how hard you work to achieve your goals in life.
Thank you for this video!! I’m a sophomore in high school and this video was super helpful for what I should do/should be doing!!
woah now you are a person for me to take as an example. You are truly mature and with the things you value, you are someone I want to be.🌼
Starting vlog strong with SEVEN remix... Loved your honesty and great advice about uni life. Wish you the best in the new uni year. 화이팅!!
This made my day Andrew I was looking forward to your vlogs 👀🤭🫶🏻🫶🏻
yess my favourite amie dramar also is " Your name" i like most (thật trùng hợp)
love this video @andrew
i am a arch student too and love your journey
BACK TO BACK CONTENT?! YAY
I found your channel recently and I’ve been binge watching since🦋🤍
Hey Andrew, I find myself relating to your situation a lot (little design background before joining architecture, small portfolio) and when I saw your finals season video, I was very impressed and was wondering how you manage having to rework/restart your project with ease so close to deadlines? I also relate to what you said about coming to terms with imperfection and presenting a work that's not your best, so would you have any advice on that?
Thanks a lot for these videos, they mean a lot to archi students like myself!
Loved the college advice and I think when someone focuses on themselves mote they achieve more.
Can't wait for the school vlogs!!
thank you so much for this q&a oml its answered so many questions i didnt even know i had lmaoo
I'm so thankful that you picked my question .....yayyyyyy
i'm impressed by your outlook on life and how you handle things and honestly i could learn so many lessons from you Andrew. thank you for having this Q&A even though it would have been a lot of work gathering all the questions and answering them, you're as hard-working as ever :) i'm looking forward to your next vlog ^ - ^
I've just finished watching your last vlog and there is already a new one🧡
Q: Can we officially start being called, "Drew's crew"
Subscribed, your personality is the type of person I’d love to befriend but it’s a low chance. Also, appreciate your opinion about the life of architecture school, got me rethinking if I should pursue it.
I liked it sooooo much, Andreww!! And I want u to know that ur video arrived in Brazil so congrats!!!
wahhhhh~! thank you so much for the q&a and back to back videos!!! >
Thank you for including me in your video, this is my greatest achievement in life as of right now lol
Really like that you thought of doing this, it's always nice to know when content creators notice the people watching. It's also really nice learning more about you ❤.
The cooper union hometest is INTENSE!!! Focusing on creating works from prompts with very little guidelines complicated and stressful!! I barely slept T^T!! Def understand the small school aspect!! Arch this year is 27 ppl, art, 60ish, and engineering is the largest w 100+
Bro.. you really are a very hardworking person :')
I wish I was consistent and focused like you❤
Anyways lots of love~
As a person in 2 semester in architecture this video really helped. Thank you for always helping others students 😊❤
17:29 lol😂 that’s totally not me then! I mean I’m sure you do too, but I spend a lot of time at studio, even doing outside hw there because it’s so hard to concentrate at home
Thanks so much for the Q&A and the tips regarding how to prepare. I will definitely get the book by F. Ching even though I am not studying architecture, am "only" fascinated by it. Thank you! I wish you a good start into the new university year! God bless you!
I was debating on perusing architecture but decided to go for electrical eng. glad you enjoy your program cause I don’t lol
i compare myself to others ALOT... like its just at the point that everyone i look at ,, i look at them as a competitor. its really sad and toxic but i am like this :( i try not to compare myself and see myself as lower and as someone who can never be or do something like what the other person did ,, but the thoughts come so naturally that i dont even realize i am doing it at this point,
Yes this is a while back but I am inspired to keep myself looking forward in life. Somewhere in the far future! I love this thought cause its what help me move forward and you are someone who do that. I mean even when things are hard you are more focus on the goods things than the bad. Yes, I might be assuming you are those who do that but I love how productive you are and how the bad doesn't stop you to continue what you do! I hope things do well for you in life!
