    Power Button. You have to plug in the monitor and then pull the power on the monitor to get it to turn on when powered up through the wall outlet. If you plug it in and your monitor was last turned off you'll have to push the button again, and then pull the plug while it's still on to get it to turn on automaticlly once it's plugged into an outlet

    This is hardware only. The "kit" does not include an upgrade to the existing 1up 17" monitor. Instead, its a mount kit for any old Dell monitor one can pick up at Goodwill. I think this should be called a monitor mount kit and not a mod.

    Nice video Ralph, you explain everything well. I am looking at putting some Dell 19" Monitors in some A1UPs I have. The only issue I have is this solution seems pretty expensive. I just put one in my cart, and the monitor mount with bezel, plexi and screws was $83? I didn't even look at shipping costs. Considering I provide the monitor this seems a little pricey to me. I guess if you are building a dream cab or building an ultimate cab and just keeping that one, maybe this makes sense.

      It automatically turns on every time there is a signal, that's a standard feature for most monitors. I have this installed on two setups, works great every time I just turn on the setup from the outside. Once the Pi is on, the monitor turns on too.

      It's a lot more complicated and requires you to understand the LVDS pinout's. I have a friend who's currently working on a kit with a 19" monitor for the purposes of upgrading your stock machine. So you would be able to keep the 1up PCB and just do a simple monitor upgrade. I will check in with him and see how far he is into the process.

    • @RetroRalph

      It's not difficult but it does not interface with the stock PCB. You do this when you plan to mod the cabinet with a Pi, Pandoras box or Pc. However, there's a newer board by geekworm that does allow you to upgrade your monitor while still using the stock game board (PCB).

    This is cool and all...but it didnt answer a question I had. So I have a raspberry pi 3 b+ and I was wondering If I could use just the Display from a default cabnet. (1up Ms. Pac-man) I can rig a controller later on if it worked.

    Hey Retro Ralph
    New subscriber long time arcade junkie have a couple questions hoping you can help me????? My Capcom head to head table is my project in mind. I want to have a Pandora’s box in the table but also be able to switch back to the original split screen board easily.
    Is it possible to have a Pandora’s box and the original arcade1up board in the system at the same time? (powered on at different time)
    Any advice??

    • @RetroRalph
      @RetroRalph  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Man, that's a complicated one. Technically you would need something to split the LVDS signal so it could go to the stock PCB and another video board that would allow you to connect an HDMI device. I don't know of a way to do this currently and both source boards would provide power so having them on at the same time would pose a problem. I wish I had a better answer for you here. If 1up had used HDMI out on their PCB, it would have made this a simple one. Great question and I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

      Because the monitor is "old stock" I just put the model in the text of the video. If you look, everything should be there. The one I used and the common one people use is the Dell 2007fp. I hope that helps you out.

    • @chophap8930
      @chophap8930 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For those worrying about the on/off switch being hidden behind the bezel: I got this same monitor for my upgrade; the monitor will self turn “ON” when power strip is powered on. I also recommend setting the Dell monitor’s Brightness and Color setting to your preference before installing the bezel over the monitor, since the settings button will no longer be easily accessible following Retro Ralph’s method. Again, thanks for making these videos, I thoroughly enjoy them.

    Hi Ralph, I ordered a dell 20inch monitor 2009 model, but it is too big for the arcade 1 up. Can you please give me the model number for the 20inch monitor you used for the Tulsa arcade monitor mod. I want to purchase the correct one that fits. I already bought the entire Tulsa arcade monitor upgrade kit for 20 inch. I would love your model number for the monitor. Thanks

    I'm a little confused about the ordering process. Assuming I have the same 20" monitor, what boxes do I have to check?

    • @SentientPizzaSlice
      @SentientPizzaSlice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually just received my order. You are going to want to select the 20" bezel size. For the boxes, you'd want the monitor mount, a single plexiglass sheet (it says monitor, but it's the sheet), which'll be horizontal or vertical depending on your build, and screws for the bezel. If you want a graphic on the bezel, it costs extra, and for them to install the graphic it costs more on top of that.
      The easiest way to connect it to the pi depends on if your monitor supports HDMI. If it does, HDMI directly between the pi and the screen. Use an hdmi to dvi adapter if the monitor doesn't have an hdmi port. You don't need the lcd control board anymore, HDMI can interface directly with the monitor or though DVI.You are going to have to plug the sound input going into the amp from the control board directly into the pi and then change where the pi outputs sound from in retropi's settings (3.5 mm jack, not hdmi).
