    Thank you for the video! I followed the instructions and my cabinet looks beautiful now! I did my own mod of this cabinet, I modified the joysticks swapping it to a traditional setup, exchanged the screen board by the Owootecc NT68676 (luckily it worked) and added my pi to the cabinet, with batocera and sinden lightguns. The screen swap made a huge difference, looks like a new cabinet now. Thanks once again!

    The stool didn't fix the issue, although it improved a bit. Bought a Dell monitor, followed your instructions and the difference is astonishing.
    The viewing angles are much better with no noticeable fade out. It's not as good as the BOE monitor in my Defender partycade, but seems on par with my Star Wars cab.
    This is what they should have shipped with. Considering the sheer number or Legacy cabs that have garbage monitors, it's evident that Arcade 1up won't do anything about it. So we have to do it ourselves. The Dell is inexpensive and basically a drop in replacement. Get it while you can.

    If you're six feet tall, it makes a huge impact on play. Once I walk up on it, I can see fade out. I guess I'm a couple of inches too tall. I got a stool for the cab to see if that helps. If it doesn't then I'm off to get a new monitor.

    I just built my Centipede yesterday, very unhappy with the monitor. I’m not one who usually complains about the quality of the controls or screens in A1Ups, but this screen is noticeably washed out. If I had been smart I would have followed this video and replaced the monitor before assembling the cabinet. This cabinet was a real struggle to assemble and the idea of even partially reopening it is not something I want to do. Plus it’s still going to be a horizontal monitor in a Centipede cab. 🙁

    I’m curious as to why you’re replacing it.. better blacks is my guess…? Is this an IPS monitor? I have converted 2 separate NBA JAM cabinets into multicabs, 2 player cabs. So each person is slightly off center, left and right… One of the multicabs is for horizontal games, the other is for,vertical games (turning monitors vertical is usually where problems are, they just don’t look as good as they do horizontally.) Thanks

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mostly for the black/contrast level and off-angle viewing in this case. The TN monitor they used in the MK/Centipede/Pacmania/DigDug cabinets have pretty poor black levels and the color washes out quite a bit when viewed from above, which is really bad for taller players when standing. Do not use the Dell E1715s panel in a vertical cabinet. 19kfox did that in his Pacmania cabinet and it is really bad when viewed off-angle from the left. Not a problem at all in a horizontal cabinet though.

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cjcin23 I don’t believe any wire is involved, since the speaker jack is mounted directly to the mainboard. The cables to the monitor are for video out and backlight power. Did you screw the ground cable to the monitor chassis when you put the mainboard back on? I don’t think that would disable the audio, but it’s the only thing I can think might impact it.

    Just picked up a 1up Centipede in the sale and picked up a e1715 for this exact reason. You have another video for the BOE monitor that has better blacks but doesn't fit as neatly. Is there any way you could adjust the e1715 settings for better contrast/brightness before you install or are the monitor settings parts removed in the transplant so to speak?

    • @DannyWelch

    I have some questions: The Dell E1715s is listed online as a TN Panel. I thought that video was claiming that it is a BOE monitor, but this may be referring to other Aracade1up monitors. Is the Dell better than Aracade1up?
    Dell says that E1715s has a 5:4 aspect ratio. I thought that the Aracade1ups had a 4:3 aspect ratio?
    Will this work in my Atari 10 game cabinet? My display is malfunctioning. I saw an E170Sb for sale that seemed to have the same specifications as the E1715s. Should I stick with the E1715s?

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not a replacement for the BOE. As you noted, it is 5:4, which was the ratio used in a handful of A1Ups (Atari Legacy Centipede, Midway Legacy MK and Joust, Dig Dug, and Super Pac Man). If you need a replacement for any 4:3 cabinet, I would try to get a BOE.

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the Asteroids partycade, you probably don't want the Dell E1715S as it's a 5:4 aspect ratio and yours is likely 4:3. If you open up your partycade and look at the back of the monitor, you can see if it is a BOE brand. If so, then I'd suggest looking for a replacement A1Up BOE monitor.
