    Do travel trailers also need a state inspection if they are under the state’s required weight?
    “In Texas, travel trailers with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 7,500 lbs. must be inspected or self-inspected. The self-inspection option became available on September 1, 2023.”

    What should i do if i bought the car with the title as salvage and it was already repaired before i bought it, im not sure who did the repairs but i can see 9n one of the forms that it asks for information on who repaired it

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Correct. I have had that happen to me,personally before and my county tax office told me to write in that it was repaired prior to my ownership and repairs were unknown and then sign. I would call your regional dmv office or local county tax office and ask them how they would like you to proceed because each county seems to have different tolerances how to deal with these types of issues.

I have made the repairs over the years as I had time & money & now I want to sell it & my question is do I have to apply for a rebuilt title & fill out the form VTR-61 ? If you did not have to send your original title to your insurance company and they did not send you back a pink salvage title then no. You should call your county tax office to verify that. I believe it’ll show a total loss if they run a car fax but it’s not a salvage. But double check with them.

      If it’s a true salvage copart or iaai or whoever usually puts the title in your name and you’re taxed on what you paid for it. When a car is NOT a salvage title you are taxed on either what you say you paid for it or presumptive tax value whichever is higher.

    • @buxtonautosales

      Well is the back of the pink title signed by the seller but there’s no buyer name written in or are there no signatures at all? If it’s not signed by the seller you’ll have to find someone at that company to sign off for you. Otherwise you’ll need to do a bonded title as well as convert from salvage to rebuilt.

      Well the short answer is - not much. I’d put insurance on it and drive it. Keep your paperwork with you in the car. In the event you get pulled over just tell the cop what you’re trying to do. They may write you but most municipalities will let you out of the ticket with a $10 court fee or something if you get the car registered within a certain number of days from the ticket.

      That’s a good question and as of yet I have not heard what the answer will be. Emissions counties will still have the emissions test and I suspect it’s still going to cost the same. The “ safety inspection” part will be going away so there would effectively be no process for the non-emissions counties. I’ll look into that and see what the state has put out.

      No. Who's name is on the front of the title? Yours or the insurance company you bought it from? If it's the insurance company they have assigned it to you. You're not a dealer so you can't reassign. If your name is on the front of the title I would finish the process and then sell it once you got your blue "rebuilt" title back. I have a new mexico salvage title for hail damage. The damage is pretty minor and doesn't need repair to my likings. The car is good shape except the hail damage of course.
    How would I get that registered, as I don't plan on buying any parts or doing any repairs

      You would just put on the form that it was hail damage and no repairs were needed. Then sign. On the second page where it wants to know what parts were used just write in n/a. This is of course assuming you’re a Texas resident and you are registering the car here and it just as a NM title. If you are registering in NM you’d have to follow whatever process they require.

    I bought a salvaged vehicle from a small dealer. A title company I reached out to said I needed to have the dealer list all the repairs he performed on the car and that the dealer would have to have received a title under his name. He bought it from an auction and the front of the title has an insurance company name. It has passed the state inspection and I was able to get GEICO to insure it; but the dealer is no longer responding to me. He's far out in the outskirts and received his cash so I don't think he feels like bothering with me anymore. Do I need his help to get this converted to a REBUILT Title or can I submit paperwork on my own? Any help you can provide is really appreciated. I don't know if I shot myself in the foot by buying this car.

      Yeah you can fill it out yourself. You should call your county tax office and confirm. I had one that way and the county had me fill out the form and write that the repairs were made prior to my purchasing.
      Being that it was a dealer did he not go to the county and do the title transfer or did he hand you the link title and tell you to have a nice day?

If you're uncomfortable with that you "could" fill out out saying you replaced a hood and door or something yourself with parts from a like vehicle you already owned. You wouldn't have receipts for that. And you're allowed to do the work yourself. I've heard other people have gotten around it that way. You can also put your VIN in google and see if there are any pictures of the car at the salvage auction to get an idea what it needed. Sometimes they show up in a google search.

I was going to ask so if I buy a salvage titled super damaged/totaled vehicle from Copart, and get it running, inspected with insurance then I can get a rebuilt title for that vehicle ? Also do I have to have the car inspected before I fix anything ? For example when the car is destroyed , does someone have to inspect before and after ? So 2 total inspections ? One before fixing and one after ?

    Hello I’m in Texas more specifically in Harris county I recently purchased a vehicle off marketplace and have a salvage pink title the pink salvage title was signed by the previous owner he signed it under his shop name and he sold it to I drove it from spring Brach back to Pasadena and had zero issues
    Can I still do it under a rebuilt title I went to my local court house and they said I had to apply for a bonded title and take it to get inspected
    What do you recommend should I try to get a rebuild title or should I get the bonded title

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So from what you are telling me your seller screwed you. The title was assigned to them, they signed the back, and then handed you the title. Is that correct? If it is, that title is useless to you. You will have to do a bonded title AND the rebuilt title process both. You can do them at the same time. Once a title is salvage it can’t be unsalvaged. So you will do both and then be issued a bonded title that is a rebuilt title.

    I purchased a salvage vehicle from Copart with the intention to sell it. The insurance’s name is on the front of the title. ( This case GEICO). I’ve already made the necessary repairs which was not much. I did sign the back of the title, so now do I have to submit info for rebuilt blue title myself? Or could the individual purchasing the vehicle from me do it? I will provide all necessary forms to purchaser along with the pink title. Please help just liked and subscribed to the channel!

      The pink title is assigned to you. Unless you are a dealer either the ability to reassign the title you have to apply for the rebuilt title which is fine as saying “salvage title” and giving someone a pink title will freak them out you can say “rebuilt title” and you will have already done the necessary paperwork.

    I saw a policy change titled "TxDMV Reminder about Hail Damaged Vehicle Titles" that gave me doubts.

    • @buxtonautosales
      @buxtonautosales  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would call the TXDMV regional office. The policy is that you can not apply for a salvage title if the car is undamaged stolen recovery or only hail damage. If you already have a salvage title issued by another state I believe it’s going to stay a salvage title. I believe the Texas law does not “ undo” what another state has already decided. It is a salvage title already.
