You just saved me from having to buy another car. I purchased a 2001 Camaro about a month ago but the owner wrote my name and license number wrong. When I went to the DMV to register it, they told me the title was invalid. I wasn’t able to get back in contact with the previous owner to fix it so my car was sitting and I was going to continue walking to work. This was my first time buying a car and I was incredibly ignorant in the process. Thanks to you I was able to get myself the title in my name and I no longer have to walk to work in this 120 degree Phoenix heat.
Yep, I bought a 1989 camaro rs and I lost the title before transferring it and I’m pissed because it’s been title jumped twice so I can just have the previous owner give me a duplicate.
Just bought a 2017 mustang with alot of extra aftermarket bells and whistles for 21,000 with odo at 60k miles apparently somebody dropped the ball somewhere at filling out the title information and he said he would contact pendot and they will issue a new title but since then has gone ghost. So it’s a good thing you made this video thank you so much

Reach out to the DMV and give them all that paperwork. They will put it all together in the system and you can proceed with the bonded title. When you fill out the paperwork it asks for all documentation you may have to go with the application.
What’s the 1 1/2 times the amount? Example on how much you had to pay. If the value of the car is 6400, how much will I have to pay to get a title bond. Thanks
It is given to you by the inspector. If the car is valued at $6400 by the inspector, then you will ge the bond for $9,600. Every bond I have gotten cost me $100. When you get the value from the inspector you can get an estimate from the bonding company before you commit to it.

This is a great video and explains alot, however I was hoping I could get some advice on my current situation since the DMV doesn't have an "answers for stupid questions section". The current vehicle I own I believe would be considered inoperable due to engine, wheel and brake issues. The dmv website states that if it is inoperable an inoperable title will instead be issued. Now stupid question, I am assuming this means once it is declared inoperable and I have a indemnity bond the inoperable title will be issued instead of a registration and thus me having to have the vehicle safety and emission tested correct? My vehicle is also from 1983 meaning in the counties that still emission test it is exempt, I also live in a county with no emissions testing. However the DMV states it would require emissions, so would my vehicle still need to pass emissions? One last question. I understand during the bonding process the title claimant can take the money or the vehicle, does this period of limbo last the whole 3 years or is it within a different timeframe of the dmv notifying them of bonded title? I am slightly worried as the vehicle was a title jump and being a young kid buying it I fell for the "cars over 20 years old don't need a notary", so I have an un notarized title. If you are able to answer any of these questions I would be extremely grateful

Hey I was really looking for some help here man. I’m looking at a sweet deal on a car. i acquired a vehicle with a bond for the title from the previous owner who could not get the title. It was abandoned at a tow/impound yard in another state, went to a second and third state by the same person. Now it's here in NYS with his bond and is no longer reachable. I would start the bond process all over and include the bond with it. The theft inspector will make the notes that there was a previous bond as they include all paperwork in your possession.
If the car never had a lien or doesn’t have one can I just leave that part empty? And is the driver license number required? This is for my mother and she’s an immigrant.

No the title is sent to you pretty quickly. The end of the bond is when they send all paperwork back to you and then it becomes the permanent title. That might be what they meant, the bonded title is for a couple years then with no challenges in that time it becomes the permanent title.

Maybe you know the answer , I went to my local dmv in california to transfer a car title to my name , the dmv clerk said she need some kind of proof that the car wasnt title out of state is this commonly asked if the car was bought out of state even though the title says California title. My problem also is I didn’t not clarify where do I get this proof or letter that says the car wasn’t titled out of state. Maybe you know the answer so I don’t have to go back to the dmv to clarify
I have no idea about CA. I would definitely check their DOT/DMV website. Sometimes you can actually teach the tellers a thing or two when you do your research.
Arizona allows Bonded titles. I recently bought a fixer up 2 door 1961 Ford falcon wagon. Making a rat rod out of it. The DMV inspected it. Easy as hell but the bond cost me almost $400 due to the Barrett Jackson auction values Arizona uses to put real value on old cars being sky high due to wealthy bidders running up the prices. I had no choice so I went with it. Arizona also gave me plates for it even though it is not road worthy. i think they felt bac making me pay so much for the bond. My other bond 5 years ago. A 1926 Model T I built in to a rat rod. The bond was $150.
Does it matter if the car was bought in another state other than NC...If NC resident would you still be able to get bonded thru NC..car was bought in MD
yooo, did you have to pay for the bond up front or does it go through insurance and you put down like 100 bucks? i got a 54 ford crestline i bought with no title, prev owner had it sitting for 20+ years and unsurprisingly, lost the title, dmv valued it at $870, and im not sure if i need to cough up 1300 bucks lol

Hi, I have got a problem. I got a car from this guy on fb marketplace, I didn't like the car I went to check at his car yard so I settled for another one because I wanted to leave that place with a car. He showed me a picture of the title, said he didn't have it with him and gave me some temporary tags. I didn't really like the car and told him to look for another buyer. 2months later, I decided to keep the car, asked him for title and he has been giving me stories for the past 3months. What do I do? I have his phone number, first name and I know where his car yard is. He hasn't been at work for 2months, claiming his sick. I was told I cant file charges against him if I dont have his last name. I paid him full in cash.
Can you get a temporary tag from the DMV for a vehicle before you go purchase a vehicle and the seller doesn’t have a title? He brought the vehicle from original seller and insured it. I’m interested in purchasing the vehicle but I don’t have a tag to go onto the vehicle to be able to legally drive it on the roads in my state.
I believe you can get a temporary 10 day tag in some states to move a vehicle from the seller to the inspection station and so on. Check your state's DOT website for more info. You would still have to have insurance on the vehicle in order to get the tag I believe.
Here’s hoping you’re still responding to comments. So I just got a car from my grandfather whose very much the person that only wants me to do the work and he lost the title to the car he’s currently giving to me. How can I get the title transferred?

Say I bought a motorcycle from a younger fellow whose father was involved in the purchase and I suspect absolutely no shady dealings. They gave me a title from like 2 owners ago because it had practically been used as bartering currency and no one along the way intended on getting it titled and tagged. It is legally a 150cc motorcycle but looks identical to a 49cc scooter, so he just drove it like it was a scooter and never had an issue but I would like to tag it for what it is. Where should I begin? Am I better off disregarding the title I have in hand to an owner I have no way of contacting and start from scratch or does me holding this title help in any manner?
You can show that to the theft inspector and add it to the paperwork. This process also works if you can not get in contact with previous owners. They ask for all documentation to add to their records.

That's horrible! Might have to get a lawyer involved on that one. You can check with the theft inspector to see if it was reported stolen. If not I believe you can still do this process. They might have sold it to you with a fake title just to save from going through the duplicate title process.

Great deal and everything but it doesn’t have a title and was deemed salvaged and I believe it was just abandoned by the owners, now to date it was sold at an auction to another fellow who is willing to sell it to me. (No title) and checked the vin it was previously salvaged. Now all damages done to it has been repaired and everything and was wondering what should I do?
Does this work for a built kit car? I lost the title before I could get it in my name.
It should work.
Love this. Does the car have to be in working order to be bonded? I pulled a truck out of a swamp and was given a bill of sale by the property owner. It’s pretty much gone and I’m welding it.
It does not. I just did this process again for a car with no engine or transmission I'm building into a race car.
@@mazterovdizaster I’m in California and I’m going thur this now. The old man I got the car from got it from out of state and never took care of the paperwork. Now he can’t find the papers. I’m making him do the leg work and sees what happen. But this does give me hope. It’s a 65 cutlass
What if I buy a car in craig list or. Market place. With out the title ?? What I need to do ?
Same? Did you get the title?
So the bond is good for 3yrs but the process to get the title doesn’t take much time
Correct and at the end of the 3 years they will send you all your paperwork back and the title you have becomes the permanent title.
i acquired a vehicle with a bond for the title from the previous owner who could not get the title. It was abandoned at a tow/impound yard in another state, went to a second and third state by the same person. Now it's here in NYS with his bond and is no longer reachable. Now I'm stuck as to what to do next.
Somebody told me here in Texas it took two years to get a title! I have an 250 cc scooted i bought without a title here in tx I'm hopping thats bot the case!😢😢😢
No the title is sent to you pretty quickly. The end of the bond is when they send all paperwork back to you and then it becomes the permanent title. That might be what they meant, the bonded title is for a couple years then with no challenges in that time it becomes the permanent title.
Is it the same process if the previous owner jumped the title?
Hey man i bought a nissan altima 2012 back ago in texas but i moved to colorado and the dealer never send me the tittle, where should I apply for the bonded tittle,in texas or colorado?
Colorado
Hey some one left me a truck but suddenly pass she gave me permission to move it but I never applied for a title so what can I do but do have vin number and who had it first tho what should I do
Maybe you know the answer , I went to my local dmv in california to transfer a car title to my name , the dmv clerk said she need some kind of proof that the car wasnt title out of state is this commonly asked if the car was bought out of state even though the title says California title.
Can you help me? 😢
How long did the process from after getting the bond to get plates take
Thank you! How long did this take you?
The inspection and paperwork took a couple days. The title came in the mail in a few weeks.
Does it matter if the car was bought in another state other than NC...If NC resident would you still be able to get bonded thru NC..car was bought in MD
You can ask the Theft Inspector for confirmation however, I don't think it matters as they research the VIN number.
Already had vin ran for theft came back clear
Bought a car from carvana and they havnt sent the title in months. Can I do this to get it in my name ?
If you're financing it you won't get the title until you pay it off.
@@davis28905 how ima drive it without the title 😂
@Supraguy ya but then they keep sending you lender plates every 6 months.
With bonded title, are you paying for that fee, and then whatever car tax fee?
Yes, the bond is completely separate. It's paid to the bond company. The tax, title, registration fee is to the dmv.
yooo, did you have to pay for the bond up front or does it go through insurance and you put down like 100 bucks? i got a 54 ford crestline i bought with no title, prev owner had it sitting for 20+ years and unsurprisingly, lost the title, dmv valued it at $870, and im not sure if i need to cough up 1300 bucks lol
Yes, the bond usually costs $100 or so depending on value of the bond. The bond has to be value and a half of the value given by the theft inspector.
I’m from Chicago, I just got a pick up truck by my boss the owner of a mechanic shop, he sold it to me cause the owner did some work on the truck but he never came back to pick it up it’s now been 4 years and he owns a ton of money for storage, you think it be easy to get the title?
Should be, take a look at Illinois DMV or DOT and see what their process is.

??
Trying to figure out how to do this in MO
Hope it helps you get on the right track!
Awesome video....
@davidm2778 glad to help with the process!
He can get a lost title replaced in 30 days or you can go through this process.
🙋♀️ Will This Work In Chicago Il? I bought A Honda Accord Coupe. Gave The Guy 5k for it when the car is worth 10k so I’m not gonna be able to afford to give the extra money so can I do this? Will this work for me? 😬
Did it ever work?
What year😂 I just bought a 05 accord myself but they’re bs me with the title “I’ll do it tomorrow” “its on the way in the mail” etc. I have the reg with their name on it but they keep pushing it to the next day
@@Omgkhii 2016* Congrats 🎉💯🔥
It’s definitely encouraging me to get it done asap. I haven’t tried it yet, wish me luck! 🤞🏼✨
Not sure, check the Illinois DOT or DMV website.
Excellent video! BTW congrats on owning a VW scirocco I haven't seen one of those in many decades. I just subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you!
I wont to know can anybody tell me is there a loophole for getting a bonded title in south Carolina? I lost a title that was purchased in Ohio and cannot reach the seller or the title owner.
I have found a great deal on a truck. Love the truck an it is flawless. Looks good an runs great. Now..you guessed it. No damn title! I live in NC also. What are my steps i need to do before an maybe after? Was it worth all the folder worth of paper work? Great job on the video btw!
O..btw. I have a friend that is a dealer an have another friend who owns a mechanic shop. Would i be better to try an get a mechanic title? Would it be easier or better way of doing it? Thanks for your time. Noticed I asked alot of info but any help would greatly be appreciated. Jay
Did you ever get a title for it? Did it work?
hey did u get the title? would love an update since i have a similar situation now
It was my understanding that the title is listed as a bonded title, but after two or three years, you are eligible to apply for a clean title.
No, it turns into the permanent title. No need to apply for anything else.
Just got a 76 Corvette I'm hoping to do this in Massachusetts hopefully it works because I have no title 😅
Did it work?
I’m currently in the process of getting a bonded title for a 2002 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T from a auto electric shop
Awesome!
@@krzysztofwnorowski2447any luck?
Any luck?
I have a title but it is full and previous owner bought it and never had prev owner get a duplicate and he was never added to it.
You can show that to the theft inspector and add it to the paperwork. This process also works if you can not get in contact with previous owners. They ask for all documentation to add to their records.
So I bought a truck from someone in Utah and I got insurance on the truck so I could get it title and registration on it. But lost title to truck before I got back to the state I live in to put the truck in my name what do I do to get title. I can't get ahold of pervious owner
This process should work for you! Give all the information to the Theft inspector when you fill out the forms
What happens if you want to sell the vehicle and it has a bonded title?
The previous own gave me the lost title I signed the bond and the back of title what should I do next ?
Hi is there anyway I can contact you further information!!!!! I am currently in this situation
Everything can be found on the website! Thanks for watching!
Can you do this in SC
I think SC is a little more lenient on their titles. I believe all you have to have is a bill of sale but I'm not 100% sure because I never lived there. Check the SCDOT for more info!
What is the exact link to that form ?
did you ever get the title i am about to do the same, thank you for the information.
Sure did!
What if theres a coownership
Between you and another person? All that has to be put on the affidavit you fill out.
How would I get a title for a 15’?
What regulation forms is there. How many regulation forms is there to get title? What state is this for?
Should I still buy a vehicle if it doesn’t have a title but has bill of sale
should i bro??
Thanks for the info you're a life saver
Glad to help!
Does this work if the previous owner of the car still owes money on it?????
Thats where the lien part comes in
I need help. I bought a car I live in georgia and the car registered in SC the guy I bought it from uncle died before registering the car and they lost the title. What I have to do? This my first time doing a title bond.

Thanks for the video.
I'm looking at buying a truck with no title. Thank you

Is there a specific website? Or just Google?
What if you don't have insurance ?
Doesn't matter, this is just a title process.
Can't get bonded titles in Pa 😢
Am I able to do this in Washington DC I looked at the link it says North Carolina
Check the District DOT website and it should give you your options.
I bought a homemade built trailer here in TX from my neighbors Wife after her husband passed away for $200.
I went to the tax office with zero paperwork & asked how to register my Homemade Trailer?
She handed me 1 piece of paper & started asking weight questions.
I kept it at 2000gvw & 1500 Tow Weight.
I engraved my b-day & last 4 SS#'s as my VIN all under my trailer but she didn't ask or need that information.
Took me less than 7min to register & bought 2yr tags for it 🤟
You want to sell the homemade trailer?

How long does it usually take to get approved and sent back to you
It's pretty quick. When you give the paperwork to them, they submit it and you'll see the title in a few weeks.

Ok. You can do this process or you'd have to track down the original owner and have him notarize it with you to get it transferred.
Hey man, I hope you’re still active here cuz I really need some help. I was wondering if I can get a bonded title for a 1986 Toyota Mr2 in the state of Florida. It’s my dream car and I don’t wanna let it go but if I can’t get that title then I might have to
Im not sure. There is a bonded title process available in every states that I'm aware. Just check with the Florida DOT
I bought a car and it was stolen back by the previous owner I owned the car for 2 days so I didn't get the car in my name and the paperwork was in the car so now I'm out a lot of money and a car what do I do
Report it to the FBI what else 😂
I was told you couldnt get a bonded title in SC, first mistake.
Never heard of that? SC is different. Not familiar with SC but I've been told a bill of sale will do. Have to talk with the DMV to find out their specific process.
What if I realize that there was a lien on the car after going to the dmv and realizing that I was scammed because they sold the car to me with a fake title?
That's horrible! Might have to get a lawyer involved on that one. You can check with the theft inspector to see if it was reported stolen. If not I believe you can still do this process. They might have sold it to you with a fake title just to save from going through the duplicate title process.
I’m n South Carolina is it the same steps that need to happen and can a bonded title be optained
