He fixin to tell ya
At least I try to.
I’m in Louisiana. I purchased a car (no paperwork) intended to be used for parts but I ended up getting an inspection at the state troopers hq to be sure it wasn’t stolen or anything. The report came back good and they are telling me I should be able to get a title to the car using a justice of the peace. Is that possible even if a car has a lein from another state? I don’t know that that is the case but I’m assuming it is since the car has been in California and Texas its entire life.
That I couldn’t tell you - I can only speak for Texas residents. Since you’re a LA resident you’ll have to find out what the process is there for getting a title. Appreciate you watching.
*watched both parts of this and its very informative. Im glad you were able to get something back towards what you paid. Im dealing with a small "dealership" lying to me about having the title to a truck , now i dont know what to do*
I don’t know what state you’re in so it’s difficult to advise you. States and reporting agencies vary greatly from state to state. Appreciate you watching my stuff.
Yr smarter than you look 🤣
You know, I keep telling people that!
Subbed.
Much appreciated!
I don’t mind paying a reasonable markup. In my opinion a reasonable markup is 25%, any more than that you are overcharging.
That’s great. How did you come to the conclusion that 25% is “reasonable” - did you know that the industry standard is more like 50%?
@@buxtonautosales if the shop knows what they are doing then they are buying part brands that are less likely to fail. Therefore, the failure rate of total parts installed should be no more than 10% at the most. Which means, at a 25% markup on all parts with a generous 10% failure rate, the shop should be making a hefty profit on parts. Any more than that, then the shop is price gouging or the shop doesn’t know what they are doing. So, I have set my personal threshold at 25%. Any more than that, I will simply do the job myself.
I have a blue salvage title can I go get it registered
If it’s a Texas title and it’s blue you have a rebuilt title. Yes, those you can register. Salvage titles are pink in Texas.
I Mark up parts 40%, because of the time involved in ordering and picking up the parts
Yeah I believe the industry standard is more like 50% so I think you’re being pretty fair. We use Mitchell 1 and I think their default markup is like 45% which is what I use.
This is so true was having problem getting a car with 540 credit found place gave me a chance got 2 jobs paid off my car and now have over 700 credit.
That’s great. It’s meant to be a stepping stone not a life style. Glad you got out of it!
Weres part 2.
The full video is on our channel just go to our channel it’s there. I thought I’d linked it to the video but maybe not.
Do you also have to sign the front of the title? If it is owned by a business, do you sign company name or officer signature?
I’m gonna guess you left this message on my website as well. No, front doesn’t need to be signed. You will sign your name and provide a letterhead or business card to show that you’re a representative of the company. Thanks for watching.
I agree with everything you said, but whoever thought it was a good idea to fill your videos with annoying graphics & text gave you bad advice. They just make your videos look cartoonish & distract from you content. To make it worse, you use pastel colors which are totally unreadable against the background. Its fine to use text occasionally during editing to add additional information or correct a misstatement, but professionals will tell you that white text against a dark background is the easiest to read. Viewers will return to your channel for your excellent communication skills & informative content, but they'll leave if they're bombarded with unnecessary clutter IMHO.
I appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching and all. I’m still sorting things, figuring things out, etc in an effort to grow the channel and actually make it a viable revenue stream. I definitely could have picked better colors.
Will you have to bring receipt of sales amount or cashapp? How deep is the proof of sale
They don’t ask for proof - your proof is the title in your hand. If you’re wondering for tax purposes you get taxed on the sales amount you claim it was or presumptive tax value whichever is higher.
@ thank you so much! A friend is purchasing the car and doesn’t currently have insurance how should we go about that and what papers should we fill out? You are the best ✨
@ it’s just the title and the application for title Texas form 130-u. The car, if you’re in an emissions county, will need an inspection prior to registration as well as proof of insurance for the inspection and registration.
@ Appreciate the help thank you. Let’s say if the previous owner had the inspection about 2 months prior to sale/transfer and registered it during that time will the new owner need to register it again?
@ if the inspection was less than 90 days before the sale no. And I believe the new owner can keep that registration and just pay at renewal, but im a car dealer so I have to get new plates for people. You could call your local tax office to confirm.
Important note to remember, most shops will not be able to either offer or in some cases afford to warranty work if a part goes bad and it didn't come from their supplier.
Correct. Thats part of what that mark up pays for. Thanks for watching.
Ok I’m biting where’s the actual video lol
Just go to our channel and I believe the video is titled “how auto repair shops make money” - I thought I’d linked that video to this short but heck, I’m still on the learning curve! Appreciate you watching.
I have an 07 2WD reg cab short bed gmc sierra with low miles (81K) Fire engine red. CANNOT BUY GAS W/O guys asking to buy it! Also own 01 Suburban and 01 Tahoe - great vehicles
Yeah well preserved ones still bring good money. Thanks for watching!
Also do you just take cash? if not is carrying the contract a hassle? Repos?
Yeah I actually do more cash sales than note sales.
I have always wondered about used car lots and enjoy your content on what does/doesn't happen to the vehicles. Live in WA.
Thanks for watching!
Just appeared. I watched and subscribed.
Thanks!
Add youtube profits if any!
Yeah I’m happy the TH-cam revenue has been increasing. I didn’t have much time to film in December so it’s slacked off some but I have some good ideas to film coming up soon.
More bullshit
Oh really? What part? You always have something negative to say about my videos but yet you watch them. I appreciate that.
What if I live in Louisiana?
Then you would need to do whatever the bonded title process is for LA if they have one. This process is for Texas residents only.
Good info!
Thanks for watching!
My rule number one, only because I've seen how it worked out with members of my family, "Never go into business partnership with a family member(s)".
I would agree! Thanks for watching.
hey bought a car from facebook marketplace no title bill of sale and has a lien on it what do i do don’t wanna drive it illegal and they sold me the car the engine is seized so before i fix it how can i get a title please.
Well if the lien is less than 10 years old the bonding company has to verify the lien is paid. If it is not they won’t write the bond. You may have to pay the title loan off, they won’t give you the title but they’ll give you a release of lien and you can get the bonded title at that point.
Merry Christmas!
Hey thank you! Merry Christmas to you too! Appreciate you watching.
Great video... thanks for explaining.... Go Texas
Thanks for watching! The bonded title thing has been great for me. Only the one ever went bad.
Great video but you forgot a very important signature. The Owner's signature on the FRONT of the title (red circle). It also has to match the name as it shows on the title and the owner signature on the back.
Actually the state of Texas does not require the signature on the front. It’s stated in the Texas Title Manual. Appreciate you watching the video!
@@buxtonautosales I could see a bean counter giving people a hard time about the signature. Also what about the section "Name of Purchaser" and address, also not required?
@ well, the bean counters would be county employees who who do the title transfers all day every day. Did you watch the video? There’s an image of the back of the title that’s highlighted in yellow for buyer and pink for seller and the video explains how to fill it out.
It’s an absolute must
Isn’t that the truth!
BS ! What garage ?
Man, no BS. just watch.
Damnit !
I’m telling you. Just watch. I’m smarter than I look.
Some folks need those auto lots.
Yeah, they do.
The buy here pay here dealerships have probably made a killing since 2020, millions of desperate migrants who have no other option so they will pay 28% interest on a complete piece of junk
They have other options. They can save their money and buy something. They can ride to work with a friend. They can come to the country legally, get a social security number, and then get a first time buyer program car. There are always options.
If I get the car from copart through a broker who bought it under his name. do I need his signature as a seller for the certification section in form 130 u. thanks
The sellers signature isn’t really required on the application for title. If you can get one great burning not, it is what it is.
@@buxtonautosales Thank you a lot. I have just one question. For someone who is going to register & title, in the section (For a corrected title or registration, check reason:) what should I chose ?
@@adamboujouf5133what are you correcting? If you are taking it from a salvage title to a rebuilt title that isn’t a correction. It’s a new title that can be used to drive on the road. A salvage title can not be.
Very informative video thank you
So nice of you to watch my video and leave me a comment. I've got a lot of behind the scenes type videos on a playlist if you're into flipping cars or just want to see what it's like working as a used car dealer. Thanks again!
I am a dealer in Illinois. Curious how you do your advertising for cars. You said you use marketplace, I think. Do you delete and relist every Sunday all cars you have? Or just list new ones? Do you use any other forms of marketing? Thanks
Hi - Thanks for the question. So marketplace probably brings in 50-60% of my sales from new customers. Craigslist maybe 25%. Then I am blessed that I get calls every week with "I don't see much on your website do you have anything almost ready?" - so I bet a quarter of my cars never hit the website at all. And I get a lot of referrals. A lot of my cars don't make it a week so I don't have to delete and repost. The ones that do I may hit the relist button once but then if they don't go I take them down Friday night (I'm not open on the weekends) and I put them back up on Sunday afternoon, always rewriting the description and putting the pics in a different order. Thanks for the comment!
@@buxtonautosales I will have to try craigslist again. Seemed like it was kind of died in my area. But thanks for your reply. One other question about titles in Texas. Is it very easy for you just to get a duplicate title from state with out doing a bonded title? In Illinois a duplicate title is fairly easy to get.
@@us7sfg1 Yeah if the car was registered in their name then it's a one page form I can mail in with $2.00 and I can get a title. But what happens frequently is that people sell a car, the buyer doesn't go do a transfer, and then loses the title. Then maybe sells the car again. All that to say most of the "no title" cars I buy has changed hands several times and you can't locate the person on the front of the title.
@@TomGriffin-vv6ex Thanks for the reply, I will have to catch up on your older videos. I think we have very similar dealerships. Keep up the good work and have a happy holiday season.
@ you too my man. Reach out whenever!
Sounds like bullshit
Sorry you feel that way. Thanks for the watch and the comment. I’m in Texas we have bonded titles. I’ve got several videos on it if you’d like to see how that bull shit works.
@@buxtonautosales You never truly own a car with a bonded title - Most insurance underwriters will not touch them - no bank will loan on them - salvage title vehicles or bonded title vehicles are the bottom of the barrel scrapings of the car market - they are only worth minute fractions of what similar vehicles with clear titles are worth - dealing with the dregs of humanity like your drug soaked people you mention is hazardous to your well being - I wouldn't touch any of deals for any reason, but what do I know - I have only owned a few hundred collector cars....
Man a few hundred? That's awesome. Where my target audience and vehicles are is not what you're collecting. These are basic A to B transportation, folks looking for $3000-6000 cars they can pay cash for. In Texas the Bonded branding comes off after 3 years. It might not be the car YOU are looking for but I've only sold a couple hundred of them and I know you can make money with it. Appreciate your feedback and comments.
What about third-party negotiated car warranties? Do you put your least experienced and cheapest labor tech on it like home warranty companies?
Nope. We tell people what our labor rate is and that they’d need to pay the difference.
GREAT video and very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Appreciate you watching and commenting. Really helps me grow my channel. I’ve got a playlist of behind the scenes at a car lot you may like. Thanks again!
I’m new to the channel but I want to learn everything from your channel. You are doing great
Thanks for watching and the comment! Appreciate the support! My behind the scenes of a car lot playlist has a lot of that type of stuff.
Nah, I'm title jumping
I did for a long time until I became a dealer. You’ll probably be fine. It just takes that one pissed off buyer that feels you cheated him. But there’s so many people with a burner phone and a different Facebook account every week you’re probably safe.
Hi, do u have a dealer license to sell or buy cars? The reason I'm asking because I don't know what to do after I buy a car from someone and they sign the title. I don't what to register the car in my name because I don't want to pay the tax. I know u said it's a felony to title jump but I don't want to get a tag and all that if I'm selling the car. So how u do that? Any advice would be appreciated.
If you don’t have a dealer license you pay your tax. Thats part of the cost of flipping cars with no license. You don’t have to pay for a registration you can just get a title that will save you a few bucks. Is what it is my man. Part of the cost of doing business if you’re not a dealer.
When you first purchase a car to flip it doesn't hurt to ask the seller put a lower amount down for the purchasing price to save you a little money on taxes. I don't think😗 I mean heard of anyone saying no. If you are paying $1,000 ask them to put $400 or $500. At least that's what a friend told me 😉
@@mattm2684 Thank you 😊
@@buxtonautosales Thank you
Well, lying about the tax is a felony. And if you’re in Texas you get taxed on presumptive value or purchase price whichever is higher. They started that because of all the people claiming they paid no money for the car.
One question Sir ! So do we need to pay sales tax for this process ? Because I’m wondering that I already paid 6.25% sales tax in copart whenever I got the vehicle.
If you bought it from copart and they put it in your name you’ve already been taxed so when you convert it to a rebuilt title you’ll pay the title fee, the conversion fee of $65, and you’ll pay for license plates. Appreciate you watching my video!
@@buxtonautosales Thank you so so so much SIR. God bless you. marry Christmas. to you and your family.
As usual, learned a lot. Thanks and have a Merry Christmas and a really great New Year.

I find it amusing that realtors that occasionally flip homes (and normal home buyers looking for a good deal) also look for dirty homes that was not intended to get sold...basically a nasty divorce or the elderly parent died and the out-of-state children are bickering among themselves and finally just want the house gone fast (bonus points if the buyer will throw out the parents old junk)
Yeah I get that. I owned 5 houses at one time and only one of them was actually listed with a realtor. You have to hunt where no one else is to find the bargain. Appreciate you watching and your comment!
Wash it wax it buff it
