    Everyone asking about GA private inspectors don’t bother. There aren’t any anymore and if there are, you will spend a lot of money getting them to come to you depending on where you live. If you live more than 2 hours from a private inspector then you might as well not even attempt to call him because they’re not driving that far(without a big payment). Just go ahead and schedule an appointment with an inspector that you have to drive to. DO NOT do a walk in unless you weren’t able to schedule an appointment. If you do have a walk-in, call the inspection site the day of inspection before you drive out there. That way they can confirm if they can’t fit you into their schedule or not. It sad you have to on TH-cam just to get inspection advice because the people at the insurance companies and DMV give you false information. Some of the inspectors won’t even answer the phone or reply to emails. You are literally are your own in this process. They don’t mind taking your $100 though. That’s one part they don’t forget.
    Remember the private inspectors charge a personal fee and that’s separate from inspection fee you must pay. Expect $200-300 once it’s all done.

    Good video sir, someone sent this to me today.
    I would add, individuals can build 2 vehicles a year without a rebuilders license.
    Ga does have strict salvage laws, but this is a good thing, being in a safe vehicle is important.
    I seen someone ask in the comments if we’re picky,
    we have rules and guidelines we have to follow.

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having lived in a few other states this is actually the first place that I don't have a yearly mechanical inspection (aside from emissions) but I agree having a strict salvage process make sense, especially given the absence of yearly checks for mechanical and safety equipment

    • @rod1781

      Ga is the strictest state on rebuilt titles every other state in the United states will pass rebuilt titles as long as the structural damage is fixed but airbag lights and other dash lights can be on and still pass

    I’m at the end of this process with a motorcycle in Decatur county, only thing I will add is when I went to my local tag office after I passed inspection I was told you have to send the paperwork to the Georgia DOR motor vehicle division and get the rebuilt title from them before they can give you plates. Lots of hoops to jump through here in Georgia don’t know if I would do this again.
    Also I’ll add the vehicle inspection in Georgia is very strict, I saw multiple people in line before me not pass inspection, it’s a 120 dollar non refundable inspection.

      Yeah the GA salvage to rebuilt title process is bullshit. Other states have it easy. Like damn they are so worried about us driving a potentially dangerous vehicle on the road that we have to go through this time consuming process. Meanwhile you have thousands of folks driving with bald tires or no brake lights. Give them a hard time not us.

    Very informative. I don’t know how to do any physical work on my car that hit a hog on interstate and ins totaled it😢. But I called a mechanic shop and they said they’d have to have rebuilders license to work on my car. Is that true? Can I go to any shop to get the work needed on my car done? Also do you think I should bring the “estimated itemized damage list” that insurance gave me? I’m glad I found this channel

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, it really depends what kind of shop it is, everybody has their own level of comfort and expertise. The itemized will help but they will likely do their own estimate.

    • @Brooklynnisabeast32
      @Brooklynnisabeast32 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok gotcha thank you. So are mechanic/auto collision shops required to have a rebuilders license to do the work on the car? Or is it strictly their choice. I guess I’m asking are there strict laws on who is allowed to repair the car?

    • @BILLT_YT

      I don't know on the commercial side tbh... I would imagine it may be more stringent than if you were to do it yourself but I'm not in the field (anymore) so I don't know for sure.

  • @tylerb3023
    @tylerb3023 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    We only have a handful of inspectors in GA so there’s a good chance you may have to tow the car an hour or more to get to one. Then you have to pay the $100 fee but not only that you have to pay the inspectors personal fee. I will never understand why they make it so painful to rebuild a title. Some of us just have minor cosmetic damage and we still have to go through all this.

    • @BILLT_YT

      For sure, it's definitely a complicated process for a State that doesn't even do equipment safety inspections normally... I used a guy who was mobile but I haven't seen him in the system. So I am located in Clayton county GA I just bought a 2012 Suzuki GSXR600 from South Carolina and unknowing that the title is rebuilt. The title I have is branded not actual mileage and while at the tag office trying to transfer the title over they made me aware of the vehicles history saying I need an inspection. Could you provide me with the info of the guy that was mobile to you? I was going to go to McDonald collision repair in Forest Park but if I could save having to tow the bike that will be ideal for me. What all will I need in my case? I only have the title and it’s been signed over to me but to not transferred by the state due to needing an inspection. I don’t have photos of damage, I don’t have the bill of sale, I don’t have a photo of the sellers ID, I only have the title. Supposedly the bike was salvaged in Texas in 2014 and titled there and then came to South Carolina and it was obviously titled there as I have a South Carolina title. Now it’s in GA with me being the new owner and and anxious I’m out $6,000. The bike looks brand new and rides great. I had to ride it 3 hours home and have been riding it about 30 minutes to and from to McDonough for work everyday but I have stopped riding it because I don’t want to get stopped and the bike towed away and then I’d have no way to retrieve it as I have the title but the state hasn’t transferred it to my name because of needing an inspection. First inspector I saw only had one lift and maybe 10 folks in line. Please tell me why does GA have 11 million residents yet we only have around 15-20 state vehicle inspectors and some of them don’t even have legit shops. No sense at all why the state can’t certify more inspectors. Doesn’t take a genius to do the job. Some states the local police officers will expect your vehicle. I heard they just do a quick walk around and pass you or fail you. Meanwhile Georgia process a whole headache and dumb to begin with. There is barely any information on the internet about actual experiences with the inspectors. You really are a deer in headlights not knowing whether you will pass or fail.

I have also heard of them asking for money under the table just so you can pass.
      That’s what GA needs to start doing yearly inspections, doesn’t matter if you have a clean, salvage or rebuilt title. Go to your local DMV and if you don’t pass you don’t get your tag renewed. There won’t be any cars left on the road that’s why the state won’t do it.

      @@BILLT_YTfrom the looks of it now there is only ONE state inspector who will travel to you BUT it depends on how far away you are so it’s not guaranteed.

    Hey did you use an inspector from the list on the revenue/dmv website or did you find your own private inspector? I’m a soldier stationed at Stewart and bought a car that has already passed inspection and has a rebuilt title in SC but have to do the same for Georgia. Could NOT find any mobile inspectors. Please let me know if I can contact you via Instagram or a cell number! Desperately need help!

      I used an inspector off the website, a few of them travel while others work out of a shop

      @@BILLT_YT I could not find anyone that travels. My car is getting towed from fort Stewart to Macon Georgia tmrw for inspections. I do have an srs light on the dash that will not go away even though the code reader brings up no faults with the safety system so I’m going to try snd wipe it before my inspection.

      After looking at the page I don't see the info for the guy I used... Perhaps less inspectors are traveling or this guy just didn't renew his license... Process should be the same tho

    I purchased a salvage vehicle and title. I do not have the pictures/receipts of the vehicle before the repairs were made and do not have contact information of the person I bought it from. Will I still be able to get the vehicle inspected and cleared?

    • @BILLT_YT

      I'm not sure to be honest, I believe there is always a way, it just may be a longer process... usually they need a picture to verify the damage and see what's been repaired

    Does it matter if i have an aftermarket exhaust

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      shouldn't... I have never had the stick exhaust for this car... if you need emissions that may be another story, and mostly rely on catalytic converter(s)
