ATTENTION PLEASE: This video contains 4 side-by-side comparisons!
🆘IMPORTANT CORRECTION:🆘
The reason the Argon Audio SA2 is taking so long to power on and start playing sound in the tests is because it is, out of the box, set to always go in deep standby where everything is powered down to conserve power. Like this, the amp uses below 0,5 watts in standby.
The Wiim and Bluesound amps in my tests do not do this out of the box which is why they start playing sound much more quickly. But this also means they use 3-4 watts all the time, even when in 'standby'...
SA2 also has this feature of being "always on" - it can be enabled by holding the left button on the remote for 5 seconds until the amp blinks once. (This is stated in the quick start guide)
Now the amp will not power down the Play-Fi module when in standby, so you can get the same 1-2 second power on as you see on the other amps.

Thanks for a great review. I just wanted to add that my Argon Audio SA2 with Samsung The Frame 2023 starts playing in about 12-13 seconds after HDMI wakeup. My first thougths was that the 30 seconds delay would be a dealbreaker. With half the time and a smart-TV, I often use the same time to choose app and program anyway

The new "Denon Home Amp" VS "Marantz Model M1". That is a good battle!
Looking forward to this as well
They're going to be pretty much the same in terms of features. Denon is going to sound a bit more forward but that's pretty much it. In that price bracket the Denon CEOL N12 (RCDN12) is much more interesting seeing it has the same specs, a CD player, a screen and only a little less power for the same money. I know what I'd buy.
@@SarcoZQ the ceol n12 is great if you want the added cd player feature but the amp section of the new home amp is quite strong if it's anything like the M1 and can make a big diff in big rooms or with less efficient speakers. Always great to have choices.
@@TopperDude Yeah fully agree. I have this idea that people in the market for the Home Amp don't have the largest of rooms or the most difficult to drive speakers. That can be me. As far as power goes; the Ceol N12 is no slouch. Tested it with Bowers 603s3s and it worked great. The Home Amp and M1 have more power so an even wider band of speakers they can drive.
@@SarcoZQ 65w@4ohm vs 125W @ 4ohm and then we are not even talking about 8ohm
Pre-ordered the WiiM Ultra. I will stack it with my M1 to see how it sounds compared to HEOS
@@m4nc1n1 keep us updated👍🏽
do you any updates?
I have the NodeX as streamer only and love it, the quality of sound is really very good running through my Naim amplifier, the Bluesound app is OK but not great and running with Qobuz allows high end hifi
@@paulk9534 thank you for sharing this with us 👍🏽
Super interesting comparison. Just asking how to drive Klipsch RF-52 Mk1 on my TV set. What would be the most accurate amp for a V shape eq on these speakers?
Wiim, Node or Argon?
A real good sound is expected and easy to use device.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your review, very interesting. Argon Audio SA1 mk2 without wifi + Wiim mini could also be a good combination 400€. Did you test Model1 with Buchardt P300 speakers?
Good idea, and SA1 mk2 is coming also with HDMI ARC, about P300 with M1 is it tested and is working really wonderful with! Beautiful combo. I purchased also the S400 MKii to review but unfortunately i had to send back the M1.
Hi i paired my Dali oberon3 bookshelf with marantz cinema 60 avr for movies and music.
So buy a marantz M1 is good idea or it not necessary Please advise me. Thank you.
@@user-vz3jt3yb9n i will say not necessary!
@@MadAudiofficial thanks for reply
Do you think M1 will receive room correction over firmware update just like WiiM did?
@@LencoTB I don’t think was designed for this, but never say never🤞🏾
Thanks for your nice review. Which bookshelf speaker will be good match with Marantz model M1? I would like to pair M1 with B&W 707 S3 bookshelf speakers but I am not sure if that will be appropriate match. What is your opinion about this?
@@adnanhukic1974 Thank You, so you already have the 707 S3? What you are using to drive them at the moment? I didn’t tested the 707 S3 yet, but is definitely on my list!
@@MadAudiofficial No, I don't possess them but I have good deal to purchase them. Currently I have entry model Marantz PM6007 and would like to change that with something smaller and compact - (all in one) solution. I am wondering, since Marantz PM6007 is warmish amp and that will be good match for B&W 707 S3 but if is Marantz model M1 little bit brighter because it is digital amp/streamer is that could cause to B&W 707 S3 be sibilant, hissing and will be hard to listen them, that is what I am trying find out. My answer could be just pair any B&W bookshelf speakers with Marantz model M1 and try to get
conclusion.
@@adnanhukic1974 M1 doesn’t have any sibilant or brightness problems, but you will not got a warm effect if this is what you are looking for, cause is very neutral, detailed and extended in the top end!
@@MadAudiofficial Thanks for your input, this kind of information is exactly that I looking for, based on this I can make some decisions for future purchase
I have the m1 and 707 s3. It’s a perfect match to my taste!
Nice work
...AND .. I love the Drum & Bass intro =)
@@psyphonyxaudio thank you very much for your feedback 🙏🏽
There's always full power potential available from an amp no matter where the volume control is..
@@razisn perhaps power understood as spl level, authority and headroom!
Marantz model is for someone who prefers more traditional brands and/or has extra money to spend. By the way wiim just upgraded its app to include room correction - so far only for apple users but seems android is just a few weeks away. It's available in all their products except the mini.
You obviously didn't watch the review
@@MohsinWadee i did. I think you didn't.
@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh Guys i am a big fan of WiiM products, i have at home both Amp and Pro + , but you don’t get for what you aren’t paying and side by side M1 is another level in sound quality. About WiiM amp is just fantastic for the price and the app is the best one out there!
@@MadAudiofficial i said "and/ or has extra money to spend" so cost is implied. From what you say in the end i get the wiim is overall the best for what you pay, or did i get it wrong? It's the first you mention when you make your conclusion. I have no doubt the Marantz sounds better than the wiim (i never said otherwise) but it's hard to believe overall, when taking into account also software and features, the marantz is worth almost 3 times what the wiim costs. And i think the pro version will reduce the gap even further. Just my opinion and also somehow based on yours.
@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh from what i know, in the new wiim amp they will improve the DAC section, M1 is offering much more power but is not meaning that you really need it, its depends by the speaker that’s you are going to drive!
They are all UGLY boxes made of chips...ANY vintage amplifier look and sound WAY better than these crap
Buy those then. No one is forcing you to buy the amps that got reviewed in the vid. Move on and stop acting like little b*. foh
These are designed for multi room audio systems with multiple zones which a vintage receiver certainly doesn’t do. Try to keep up.

@@inbicivoforte In Europe in the 70's houses were WAY smaller that in the USA yet we all had big hi fi equipment . Nowadays makes ugly little boxes made with dumb chips ...this is called regressive DE-EVOLUTION .
