If you don't have a food saver vacuum sealer, you may want to invest in one. I vacuum seal everything that goes in the freezer, and it's been a huge food saver. No freezer burn on meat, veggies, etc., no strange flavours and no waste. I buy a lot of butter when on sale & vacuum seal it too. Butter is perfect for the freezer as it's all fat, and as long as it's vacuum sealed it doesn't pick up any odd or off flavours. I couldn't be without a vacuum sealer now. Yup, got mine when Covid hit. It was the best thing I did. I was able to buy plenty of meat before people really started to loose their mind and had a freezer full of good meat just in case it got even more crazy than it did! I still use it!!
I do have a food saver but I get lazy! I just put the steaks in the freezer in the packaging they came in. Lesson learned. I hate wasting money. When we buy meat in bulk, we always use the food saver, but I don’t when I just buy the food from grocery store. Typically, I use it pretty quick, but these steaks got “lost” in our massive freezer.
