To all the people who came here with a question "What speaker should I get? Boombox or Hyperboom?" : Man I've been thinking between those speakers since March 2021. Now is June, and I finally bought Hyperboom. Here is my advice: Go with the hyperboom. It's amazing. The app from UE is wonderful, works without lags. You can change anything you want, turn the speaker on and off from the app directly, switch between bluetooth devices in seconds. It will take 20 seconds for you to open up the app, turn the speaker on, connect to it, and start jamming. Only 20 seconds. This beast charges to 100% in 3 hours. And the bass is wall shaking. F***ing amazing. Definitely worth all the money. It's really both a home speaker and a party machine. I never put it higher than 70% at home because it becomes ovewhelmingly loud and bassy. I'm one of those people who tries to find lags in every possible system or app - by pressing all the buttons and going through all possible settings. So far, I've found zero The only only minus - absence of USB-C port. But it's manageable. Just go with it man! To UE engineers - I f***ing love you guys. You rock
Okay....why are some saying the boombox 2 has more bass. And Jet I hear most say the UE hyperboom is the winner with its amazing bass. I don't understand this. From what I understand: -boombox 2 has more bass. Means it can go lower than the UE -UE hyperboom has more bass. Means it can not go as low as the boombox but the UE bass is more pronounced and punchy due to its bigger speaker and passive radiator. Dit I get that right?
I ordered both and wil keep one. The Boombox is here since yesterday and yes, it’s ok, the bass is fine but the highs aren’t too sharp sometimes it’s like the speaker is covered by a thin blanket, gets pretty loud and keeps stable tho. The Hyperboom will arrive in two days. From what I’ve heard and read so far the sound quality of the Hyperboom shall be clearer and the base goes deeper and punchier plus it gets 10 db louder. Am pretty hyped about the Hyperboom even if i only get it in 2 days 😅.

Ya que ambas bocinas son Excelentes pero diferentes, La UE HYPERBOOM tiene bajos mas acentuados y un sonido mas fuerte que la JBL, Sin embargo, son upper bass, ( bajos secos) Si buscas un bajo PROFUNDO (lower bass) y envolvente te recomiendo mejor JBL BOOMBOX 2. aunque su sonido es un poco menor en espacios abiertos y al subirle el volumen al maximo pierdes definición en medios y altos. He probado sonidos como el Trival, circuit, rock, pop, y me da ganas de tirar la JBL BOOMBOX 2 Por la ventana ya que esta ultima no tiene buenos medios y altos. pero también he escuchado SALSA, BANDA, REGGAETON y quiero tirar la UE HYPERBOOM porque aunque esta tiene bajos super profundos (al mismo grado, incluso mas que la JBL ) , me envuelven más los de la JBL porque son LOWER. Great concise review and detailed; trust CNET. I would easily go with UE especially if it were better IP rated (concerned if left out in the rain by chance). What do you think. I also wish the UE had extra ports like Sony’s XG500 (mic, usb stick).
Love your reviews, man! Please help me sort out couple of these confusions. So, I'm pretty much into debate, amongst these speakers, Boombox 2 and Hyperboom. Definitely I'm looking for a clear, crispy and most natural sound but then the bass at lower frequencies shouldn't be compensated. Which one do you think can deliver better my needs? let's not bring their prices to the decision! Secondly, it seems here in India, the Hyperboom has gone out of stock, and can't expect it to arrive back, im anytime within 3 months. So, if I go with Boombox 2(owing to its availability better ) , does that seemscompensating with the sound quality in any manner? Or should I be biased enough to hold on, until the thing arrives back? Third, does the Boombox 2 really does drop the vocals and that sound signature, around higher volumes, say 80 percent? And lastly, if I were to listen, around 50 percent volume, which one would you suggest to vibe out? Do, you think if I won't make it to Hyperboom, there'd be lot regret about?
I bought a JBL Xtreme 2 and wasn’t impressed, so I got the UE Hyperboom and now I’m not sure if I should return the JBL or just throw it in the trash to save the next schmuck!
I have sonos 5 and listened to hyperboom as well. Sonos will win by a mile in sound stage, clarity etc. But the sonos is in another category because it doesn't have bluetooth and doesn't have an internal battery, no water resistance rating. So portable vs at home.

I ended up buying the boombox 1 for $269.99 on Amazon. Where I'm from, river tubing is popular and there doesn't seem to be a better speaker for that. I had a hyperboom for a month sounded great was built ok it blew out on the base eq after an hour of 80% volume listening I’ll definitely be going back to Jbl/harman kardon
I drive a 71 mustang / I didn’t want to cut the dash or the door panels / I picked up a HYPERBOOM and 2 boom 2 speakers ... sounds great and I can take them out when I get to the party. 14 hours of running time at 75% ... being that it’s my weekend cruiser / I’ve had it for 2 weeks and have only charged them once
@@STRENGTH444 Depends upon if I have people in the vehicle. Usually though I’ve placed the 2 smaller speakers either in the drink holders or place them on the sides of the seats. The HYPERBOOM usually goes in the passenger front floor (makes the base deeper) on the floorboard if I place it in the backseat or sometimes even the trunk. I plan on getting a 2nd HYPERBOOM so I can keep them both back there. It’s a bit of a hassle to secure everything when I get to my destination
This is exactly why I am here researching. I have a 62 6volt vw bug. I already use two JBL charge 4 speakers in my truck, but I want something different for the bug. I am thinking 2 Hyperboom speakers and placing them on the rear seats next to the window.
Why would you compare a Boombox portable to a non portable speaker. Better to compare the JBL Party speaker which is also not technically portable. Oh sorry the Hyperboom is portable they tacked a handle onto it, still looks bad.

In the UK I can get the boombox 2 for 400GBP or the Boombox 1 for 220GBP and I cannot get the Hyperboom only, if I buy it through UE website in Switzerland and for 450CHF I guess at this price... The Boombox 1 is a no brainner

Which one for example? Existing portable PA speaker like the bose s1 and jbl eon one compact usally have a very bad sound, no deep bass and bad limiting..
I have boombox 2 for about 9 months now. After watching all the comparisons decided to buy Hyperboom. 30 minutes of indoor tests was enough to understand - in sound quality department the boombox 2 is way ahead hyperboom. BB2 shakes the floor in my room with the deep bass + clear mids and highs, whereas HB sounds like a plastic box with a lot of mid bass. You can’t fix this even with an EQ. I also tested frequency response from 30 to 60 Herz - BB2 is a clear winner. The bass on 45 herz is much louder and more pronounced on BB2. So if the main purpose of the speaker is indoor usage, with the volume not exceeding 80%, I strongly recommend BB2. I didn’t test the HB outdoor or with 100% volume, this is not the way I usually use my speakers. Hyperboom goes back to the seller.
A change of 10 dB is accepted as the difference in level that is perceived by most listeners as “twice as loud” or “half as loud”. To produce an increase of +10 dB you need to increase power (watts) by a factor of 10. Yes, to get twice as loud, you need ten times the power!!! So, if you are getting 100 dB SPL from 100 watts and you want 110 dB SPL, you will need 1000 watts of power. To produce a decrease of -10 dB you need to divide the reference power by 10, so you would reduce power from 100 watts to 10 watts.
Hey man, al due respect...you´re just wrong. I have both spekers and yeah, the hyperboom has a better bass indoors but outdoors the JBL simply destroys it. In my personal opinion the JBL is just a better speaker, the features that the hyperboom has are just irrelevant to the avarage user that will get these speakers. JBL Boombox 2 FTW

Well, after all the reviews on youtube, i sold 2 Xtreme 3 and bought 2 hyperboom for stereo... What if. I told you, i used to get deeper bass sound on my JBL, however the sound was not as clear as Hyperboom. Overall As I listen to classical music, im not really that impressed with hyperboom, and i keep thinking my very best speakers ever was sonos 5 x2! Thats a crazy deep dry bass! I will return fhe hyperbooms, and hold up until something i really lioe comes out. Sonks 5 doesn't have bkuetooth, and i don't have wifi. Perhaps im done with speakers...
That is a fairly accurate statement as I own a pair of Motion+'s. But I also own a pair of W-King D8's which are my new favorite pair....they wipe my pair of JBL Xtreme2's off the table.
The JBL smashes the Aiwa exos 9 In outdoor setting. The Aiwa wins by a slight margin with indoor setting. Overall, the JBL Pb100 is the better speaker. I know, I own both
I'll put it like this . You have to buy 2 of those UE Hyperbooms to get the power that is in the JBL Boombox or JBL Boombox 2 . Usually you never judge a book by its' cover but JBL Boombox 2's cover has everything on it because that son started asking himself , would I really go half-mast with UE Hyperboom or go full blast with JBL Boombox 2 and to him it wasn't even rocket science .

@@djthereplay no the hyperboom has two passive radiators on both corners near the back and they are both bigger than the passive radiators on the boombox 2. I owned both and the Hyperboom has significantly more bass. Just based on size displacement alone.
I used to work at a tech store in the airport ... we sold both products... the jbl sounds décent but has jbls signature bass heavy signature And I don’t like any of UE speaker’s it has a different sound of that then even their earbuds cut sounds tinny at higher volumes
Sure you can...that $500 tag is a huge price gouge for what you get. Two W-King D8's would come close in performance to a single Boombox 2 for a total of $150.

@@weenieroastpyro5497 i have the d8 and the d3 pro, which clearly outperforms the d8. I also have the boombox 2 and let me tell that 2 D8s in TWS mode is nowhere near the boombox 2. Bas cant reach as deep, it wont play as loud and its not as clear. The D8s are excellent for its price, but its just silly comparing it to the way more expensive BB2.

I bought the boombox 2 is it expensive yes but I probably was going to spend the money on something else anyways I'm always listening to music and since I live in a apartment its plenty loud and bassy and since I'm always on the move the boombox is just small enough to carry around with out sacrificing sound quality or bass.

I have sonos 5 and listened to hyperboom as well. Sonos will win by a mile in sound stage, clarity etc. But the sonos is in another category because it doesn't have bluetooth and doesn't have an internal battery, no water resistance rating. So portable vs at home.
@@crazysnowlalala I went through this same thought process but then remembered that sonos makes the move which does have Bluetooth and splash proof rating. I ended up buying the boombox 1 for $269.99 on Amazon. Where I'm from, river tubing is popular and there doesn't seem to be a better speaker for that. I wouldn't want to put a $400 sonos move through that abuse. On the other hand, my house is all sonos and I could only imagine what that would sound like floating on a river.

I drive a 71 mustang / I didn’t want to cut the dash or the door panels / I picked up a HYPERBOOM and 2 boom 2 speakers ... sounds great and I can take them out when I get to the party. 14 hours of running time at 75% ... being that it’s my weekend cruiser / I’ve had it for 2 weeks and have only charged them once

@@STRENGTH444 Depends upon if I have people in the vehicle. Usually though I’ve placed the 2 smaller speakers either in the drink holders or place them on the sides of the seats. The HYPERBOOM usually goes in the passenger front floor (makes the base deeper) on the floorboard if I place it in the backseat or sometimes even the trunk. I plan on getting a 2nd HYPERBOOM so I can keep them both back there. It’s a bit of a hassle to secure everything when I get to my destination

This is exactly why I am here researching. I have a 62 6volt vw bug. I already use two JBL charge 4 speakers in my truck, but I want something different for the bug. I am thinking 2 Hyperboom speakers and placing them on the rear seats next to the window.
Why would you compare a Boombox portable to a non portable speaker. Better to compare the JBL Party speaker which is also not technically portable. Oh sorry the Hyperboom is portable they tacked a handle onto it, still looks bad.
In the UK I can get the boombox 2 for 400GBP or the Boombox 1 for 220GBP and I cannot get the Hyperboom only, if I buy it through UE website in Switzerland and for 450CHF I guess at this price... The Boombox 1 is a no brainner

the Boombox 2 doesn't have a smaller battery than the Boombox 1. they have identical batteries, just the capacity is measured differently.

Which one for example? Existing portable PA speaker like the bose s1 and jbl eon one compact usally have a very bad sound, no deep bass and bad limiting..

Eu is louder and plays deeper bass. Boombox is waterproof. Depends where you take it. But eu sounds better
I have boombox 2 for about 9 months now. After watching all the comparisons decided to buy Hyperboom.
30 minutes of indoor tests was enough to understand - in sound quality department the boombox 2 is way ahead hyperboom. BB2 shakes the floor in my room with the deep bass + clear mids and highs, whereas HB sounds like a plastic box with a lot of mid bass. You can’t fix this even with an EQ.
I also tested frequency response from 30 to 60 Herz - BB2 is a clear winner. The bass on 45 herz is much louder and more pronounced on BB2.
So if the main purpose of the speaker is indoor usage, with the volume not exceeding 80%, I strongly recommend BB2. I didn’t test the HB outdoor or with 100% volume, this is not the way I usually use my speakers.
Hyperboom goes back to the seller.

Hey man, al due respect...you´re just wrong. I have both spekers and yeah, the hyperboom has a better bass indoors but outdoors the JBL simply destroys it. In my personal opinion the JBL is just a better speaker, the features that the hyperboom has are just irrelevant to the avarage user that will get these speakers. JBL Boombox 2 FTW

Well, after all the reviews on youtube, i sold 2 Xtreme 3 and bought 2 hyperboom for stereo... What if. I told you, i used to get deeper bass sound on my JBL, however the sound was not as clear as Hyperboom. Overall As I listen to classical music, im not really that impressed with hyperboom, and i keep thinking my very best speakers ever was sonos 5 x2! Thats a crazy deep dry bass! I will return fhe hyperbooms, and hold up until something i really lioe comes out. Sonks 5 doesn't have bkuetooth, and i don't have wifi. Perhaps im done with speakers...
I would rather get 2 anker motion+ for about 170$ and they would sound louder and better.
That is a fairly accurate statement as I own a pair of Motion+'s. But I also own a pair of W-King D8's which are my new favorite pair....they wipe my pair of JBL Xtreme2's off the table.

The JBL smashes the Aiwa exos 9 In outdoor setting. The Aiwa wins by a slight margin with indoor setting. Overall, the JBL Pb100 is the better speaker.

@@djthereplay no the hyperboom has two passive radiators on both corners near the back and they are both bigger than the passive radiators on the boombox 2. I owned both and the Hyperboom has significantly more bass. Just based on size displacement alone.
I used to work at a tech store in the airport ... we sold both products... the jbl sounds décent but has jbls signature bass heavy signature

@@weenieroastpyro5497 i have the d8 and the d3 pro, which clearly outperforms the d8. I also have the boombox 2 and let me tell that 2 D8s in TWS mode is nowhere near the boombox 2. Bas cant reach as deep, it wont play as loud and its not as clear. The D8s are excellent for its price, but its just silly comparing it to the way more expensive BB2.

I bought the boombox 2 is it expensive yes but I probably was going to spend the money on something else anyways I'm always listening to music and since I live in a apartment its plenty loud and bassy and since I'm always on the move the boombox is just small enough to carry around with out sacrificing sound quality or bass.
