Boombox sound difference is not so big it maybe has a VERY little deeper bass and it goes a little louder but the xtreme is pretty nice aswell. Think about what you want to do with them if u want to take it everywhere take the xtreme.

I dropped the Xtreme 2 in the Gulf about 4 ft for 30 seconds TWICE and within 5 minutes had the S10, which went in the water too and Xtreme back up and running- I will always buy JBL

So I didn't get to listen to either speaker, and based my decision solely on this video. I ended going with the extreme 2 (because it was on sale, and most importantly I have 4x jbl flips to pair). Those with Jbl Partyboost feature will connect only to other Jbl Partyboost speakers and those with Jbl Connect Plus speakers connect only to other Jbl Connect Plus speakers. Xtreme 1’s feature is ‘Connect’ and Original Boombox’s feature is ‘Connect+’. I don’t think they can connect. I haven’t tried though.

One uses connect + and the other is a newer series that can only connect to the new line of speakers. You can sometimes update the software on them so they can link
