I had a hard rifts run today where I got caught out with no bridge access to a coal mine and Frozen Ground. I was forced to pivot to Kilns. I could feel Jakes stern disapproval for all 5 game days.
It's weird that since Jake is so good at the game it ruins a lot of the tension. I remember Winterhell being super close and tense. Now he just wrecks the game like it's nothing, robbing a lot of the games' attempt to pit survival vs. retaining one's humanity. Love your content!
Cheers, and I know what you mean. I have to keep dialling up the challenges in this game because I'm able to blast through all of the game's orthodox challenges. I'm hoping for some fresh new changes and challenges in the Season Pass' DLC.
Baby Starfish I at first found jake because I thought one of his titles was interesting before long I could blast through the first scenarios like nothing xD Like, at first I almost struggled with the first scenario And after I saw jake I had everyone red hot 80% of the run and could build everyone into a house in less than 10 days from when I unlocked them and only cause I could xD It felt like I couldn’t loose with some “my humanity is gone but everyone survived” thrown in just to spice things up
Hey @DDRJake. Thank you so much for teaching how to play this game and inspiring to do challenges too. I assume you won't really return to Frostpunk but I'll drop the idea anyway. Challenge - Inept Leader. Only take Laws which your citizens suggest. I tested it several times on Extreme and basically it is No Laws that kinda treats itself with citizens requesting a Cemetery upon dead or Treatments upon severely ill, for example. I think this challenge is pretty fun and it also has common sense in its core. Anyway would you take it or even read all of this, thank you for all the entertainment. Your very passionate viewer.
Awesome Idea, love all your Frostpunk videos. One thing I was thinking, what about a Necrosis kind of playthrough? No Medical Post, No Infirmary. :D (Sorry if that's already been suggested.)
It seem that if you don't make your people freeze their arses off throughout the night with extended shift they're less likely to get ill. Who'd have thunk it?
The storm starts freezing locations and killing scouts 2 days before it hits the city. Always make sure that survivors are fewer than 48 hours' travel time from the city at that point.
Interesting idea, why don't you try a "Split" run (I can't think of any fancy names) Essentially, at all times, you may only have HALF of your total population work at any time, if it reaches an odd number, you have to round it down (49 people results in 24 useable, 61 results in 49, etc) And you MUST rescue any survivors you discover (unless your scouts need to escape the storm)
You'll probably have to have healthcare and housing needs all game to make it work. And also a high enough discontent to trigger the events twice as often.
I wonder if you can keep it on merely the first level of purpose laws. If you really spam prayers or patrol on the first building only, with adaptation laws, it may be viable.
I did some testing, can verify: having all your people live under watchtowers is enough on medium difficulty. Does not work with all children living in shelters tho.. if kids can't even lift their parents' spirits enough to keep on living, why even have them? (To send them down the mines, obviously.)
@@TheTrueAnarchel I wonder if there's a difference between Order and Faith when it comes to first tier law sustainability. Thank you for sharing the test results, though

I know you can save the generator at least once with a steam core or child, can you do that multiple times? If you can, I've got a challenge run for you. Eternal Overdrive, try not to run out of sacrifices and coal as you're required to max out the generator at all times. I feel like it's possible since the added heat means you can beeline techs for coal and explorers while not caring as much for insulation.
I did a run on medium difficulty on New Home. From laws only church and evening prayers because they were forced by the game. and from technologies i did sawmill, coal thumper, steelworks, houses, all 3 heating power on generator, couplings, heaters and steam hub. and it went pretty easy until the end so i think i can try again with even less technologies
@@aturchomicz821 misinterprate what challenge? it was a personal challenge it didn't have to do with this video. It was not endless but new home and also i tried the least amount of technologies needed to survive. I think you cannot afford to fail the church in new home because the people after winterhome news are almost zero hope. also the evening prayers was indeed forced by a popup event that had only laws as choices.
I think this run is theoretically possible, it's all down to Hope Management, which will have to be managed through abusing events over and over again. Sadly, that's beyond me.
What about a minimal tech run? You can research nothing beyond the first toer (ie no drawing board techs or deeper) except generator and steam hub improvements. That means no drawing boards, only one slow scout no infirmaries, no wall drills...
Just like monarchy is one ruler, anarchy is no ruler. Rulers make laws generally. There are rules in an anarchic society but there are no "laws" because there is no one to write them and no state to in force them. Only voluntary agreements between individuals.
I don't know if you would find it interesting but have you considered to repeat one of your challenges on the rift map like carbon neutral or xenophobia. I'm not sure if it would actually add to the diffilculty to be forced to spend ressources to expand but maybe you have a different opinion
I know the best challenge for jake. You should pass child labor law and work with Only children))all workers and engineers just chill while children do all the work ))
@@DDRJake What about the House of Healing? Kids can run that, and as for research, a single engineer named Uncle (im guessing your a fan of the Mortal Engines series) assigned to a workshop with only Child Helpers to assist him.
