You would not believe how long I have been waiting for a game based off the march of these events, The march of the Czechoslovak legions is in my opinion the greatest military march ever achieved, to truly understand how far they went, they started in Eastern Europe and traveled *TO A PORT WEST OF KOREA!* by train during a violent and bloody civil war so they could by the end take a boat all the way around the world to get back home
The Czechoslovakian Legion was one of the most impressive things that happened in WW1 .. There is so much that could be said and plenty of stories that i have heard and been told. Fun detail : Each Member adressed eachother not by a rank but by : Brother / Sister Altho they did respected ranks. Fun detail nr2 : Czechoslovakian Legion Train is suspected that they stole the Tzar's Golden Treasure I really could go on and on.. as a Czech myself :) But the last thing i want to add and that is why this game kinda hits close to home. : Grandfather of my father, was imprisoned by Bolshevics in 1950's ( thats when they took over the goverment here ) for helping Legionaries to escape the republic ( Escaping from the Bolshevics ) He was a Train Inspector and to this day, i do have the his Silver Pocketwatch with train on them :) I really hope to see this game fully out !
Really interesting idea for a game AND based on a little known true story (little known outside of Czechoslovakia) We need more games like this in the UK and USA, true history fans have had enough of every game being D-day and storming Omaha (if it isn't Unspecified-istan in the modern day)

This game looks really great. Hope you will make a series out of it once it comes out. The Czechoslovakian odyssey is extremely interesting event, if anyone is interested in history or generally bored i recommend this rabbit hole.
I'd imagine the "train composition" option at each of the stops would allow you to adjust your... train composition... Who knows, maybe some run down train car was left at some of these villages that you could pick up on the cheap but would then require materials to get operational...
The game mechanics are basically the same of Company of Heroes 2 and 3. But the idea of having just single-man units and having to manage a sort of base in the form of the train is really new, at least, confronting with the modern games. The story itself was quite famous and heroic. I just want to see those Fiat locomotives run towards freedom and peace while clashing over a battle after another. Ciuff! Ciuff!!! 🤣👍
I love pseudo-real-time strategy, where you can pause or slow time (see Rimworld, Bad North and Kenshi) 'cause I'm not to good at actual real time strategy, so thank you so much for bringing this game to my attention!
Alright I'm convinced me. We're not even 8 minutes in. I love this particular part of history, a RTS, ww1, I enjoyed Company of heroes combat, it actually kinda reminds me of Mutant road to Eden a bit as well but if that game didn't suck, it has the ability to pause and order my units before I unpause for to play out in real time where I can play it like we-go or regular RTS love that for someone not smart like me, and of course: Czechs. No seriously you don't understand, There's been WAY too many cases where I'll really like something and find out the Czechs were behind it, from games, art, stories, apparently guns didn't see that happening, paintings, to even fricken moments in history. So many of my favorite moments of history always has the Czechs somewhere involved. Its to the point I've made the joke "Will the Czechs stop making things I like! Give other countries a chance to impress me!"

I just did an overview of the Russian revolution so I'm happy this poped up in my notifications, Czech legion was in a civil war that sucked for everybody equally involved.
The money is being used similar to something like a Bethesda title's trading mechanic - you have cash, but you can offset how much of it you actually spend in a trade with goods.

Also, this is one of the three games that I was looking for. The other two are "Beast" settled in the Valacchia in 1500 and "Infection Free Zone", that last is a city builder but it looks kinda good so... 😅😁

Huh, real time combat with a tactical pause? Reminds me of a really old game... like probably 20 years ago called UFO: Aftermath. Everything was real time but you can pause the game, activate special abilities, set up complicated orders to for example switch to another gun or to throw a grenade then pick up a body and then you have BS encounters of high-damage enemies that no matter what armour you wear, you'll be one-shot by it anyway and your weapons can't do anything but scratch them in response even if you've reverse-engineered them. Oh and ammo is limited and your soldiers are too.
I'm pretty sure you can track some developers of this game back to the Czech UFO series. While this studio is pretty young, it consists of many game dev veterans from Bohemia Interactive and other Czech studios ;)
For a little bit of history, the reason the red army was attacking the Czechs in Moscow is because of an order by the leader of the red army (Trosky) that when the entire legion was disarmed, they were to be shot to prevent them from being used against the revolution. this failed spectacularly and led to them becoming the closest thing to the reds out of the civil war (the whites didn't even come close enough) the Czechs at one point in time had control of large chunks of the Trans-Siberian railway (which they allowed the white army to get supplies along)
I recall the trailer for the game being raided by ZOVbies climing all types of pro-russian ahistorical bs as if it was their job(maybe because it was?). So I'm already hoping for success of this game to drive the wooden stake deeper.
Well portraying actions of Red Army as anything but heroic and patriotic is a crime in Russia. So obviously they will project their propaganda on another nations. And the fact the game talks about Czechoslovaks is quite alot of salt upon their wounds, as they percieve the entire Eastern Europe as their "rightful property".
I just find it funny how they were stuck in Russia with all territory in the west occupied by the hostile reds until they had the bright Idea "If we can't go west....well the earth is round......"
Oh, can't wait to see the Naval level of the the Battle of Lake Baikal. Where the Russians lost a naval battle to a land locked country with no navy....another glorious naval battle in Russian history.

While I don't doubt that the graphics and the mechanics of the game are going to be amazing, I'm afraid it's gonna be a massive piece of Anti Soviet propaganda. If that's true, I'm not buying it. That's why I stopped playing COH2 after 2 campaign missions.
Yeah, that's also my concern after seeing this. If their view on the Reds boils down to "bloodthirsty madmen" it's going to be hard to enjoy the writing.
It's realistic. The main bad guy there is not Trotsky though like in the reality (at least when it comes to the Legion) , it's some whatever General, but the game didn't depict anything worse than what reds really did. So there's that.
You have to remember. This game is about war criminals and murderers who killed indiscriminately, both military and civilians, including other Czechs. But now it's fashionable to justify Nazis and murderers :)

Yes, they depict Reds accurately, but the main heroes of the story are actually Legionnaires.
