I have that exact gun with a leupold scope on it. I think my 44 magnum kicks harder than my .460. The weight and the comp/break on barrel really make it a pleasure to shoot. My .44 magnum actually hurts my forearm and wrist with certain loads. Great video!!! Keep up the great work.
If someone made a stainless lever gun in 460 that wasn't crazy expensive, it'd be hard for me to not get one with a stainless revolver in the same cartridge.

As the cinder block disappeared, at 50yds, into cloud of concrete dust(no chunks to be found) I realized I had a smile on my face you couldn't wipe off with a belt sander. Heck I'm still smilin about it! Also have you looked into the 45 Raptor? It's the rimless version of the 460, which I nothing more than a .308 chopped at the neck to accommodate the .45 projectile! Just got a Taurus beretta clone. Didn’t realize the trigger had work done. For 350 dollars I’m hitting steel at 100 yards with it. Doesn’t like fiocci tho.
I had a chance to get a magnum research revolver about that size in 30-30. I was surprised at the lack of recoil with that one too. It was a fire sale price and I still regret not getting it years later😢
I love mine in the five inch ported barrel. Of course it didn’t kick a lot… you’ve got the scope and a longer forward balanced barrel holding the muzzle down! My version… you can feel the muzzle blast and recoil impulse in your TEETH. It’s almost better than sex. At my age (65 and disabled) it IS better. You want more recoil? Shoot a Buffalo Bore load with 300 gr. Mono-Metal WFN @ 1,920 fps / ME 2,455 ft lbs
.460 is a powerhouse for sure. Significantly better ballistics than the .500, too. Just not as much raw power. It'll bake an angry momma bear rethink her life choices, though.
Mines a pile of junk. It's been back to Smith 5 times and the swear it's fine but it shoots so high you can't even adjust a scope to it. Much less open sights.
You should train yourself to be ambidextrous in your shooting, then you could shoot left handed when your right hand is injured. It is a good idea to be able to shoot ambidextrously anyway.

That giant barrel and the sheer weight of that monster helps to mitigate recoil.

The comp on that barrel helps a ton. That's a whitetails nightmare. A little practice and 150yds is not a problem.
I'd like to see a velocity & penatration test on the .45-70 versus the .460 S&W, with equal weight bullets & barrels.

Heavy gun, ports in the barrel, rubber grip plus added weight of that scope on top, all of that combined helps tremendously with absorption of recoil.

I've got the 500 with the 8 inch barrel , the 44 like u say can hurt your wrist , the 500 kicks a bit more , but still pretty manageable 👍
