- Im 31 years old today (going on 90)
So a few mates came over for a mess about with some of the vehicles.
Remember if you're going to drive a tank into a bog make sure you fit new fuel filters first!
And thanks to everyone that watches and supports this Channel.
If I was told as a boy I would be doing what I do now id never believe it!
Happy Birthday to one of the most authentic, natural, and legit blokes on TH-cam.
Wishing many happy beers.
Greta had an apoplectic fit watching this.

@@johnnunn8688 Fair point. But my local Polish supermarket actually sells apple-flavoured beer.
@@WgCdrLuddite… Good😉😉
If she were to post a video as proof, it would get many, many thumbs up views🤣🤣
Congrats 🎉from Germany to you and Ted's-National-Guard.
"Honey, the neighbours are racing their tanks again..."
🤣🤣
Where's the dog?
Get the the tea flask, we’re going out to see them!
The really amuzing thing is that at night, sound really travels in the countryside so the neighbours got the full benefit of these adventures.
Man from the council: “You always keep the footpaths so clear for ramblers. What do you use?”
Mr Hewes: “Chieftan”.
BRILLIANT 😂
*Seb slips and falls* "Two staircases coming up"
@@finintuk like Katie Price you mean? She’s Chief-Tan.
Those Scammell are bloody impressive, for how old they are, they will go through almost anything
Apart from deep puddles, steep muddy mounds and grassy banks !!!! ...... yea ALMOST UNSTOPPABLE LOL
I have seen them run as gen sets for a steam show
Now if it had diff locks.... Hmmm....
@@viewer112358
exactly what I was thinking 🤔
In fairness, those weren`t the best tires for that Scammell, for that sort of terrain/hill, you want military bar tires.
That Chieftain exhaust sound is the best. It brings so many memories to an old tankie like me.
When I was 31, me and my friends went for the pub.
When Joe was 31, he and his friends went for the mud.
Just brilliant, and Happy Birthday from Sweden!
We ❤ Tank Shenanigans ...almost as much as we ❤ Jacks Mum ! 😂
My grandfather had to deliver the ARV's to a bog in germany to get a stuck M47 out of there. He unloaded the (i think it was a sherman ARV) and the second arv from another antar transport and they went to work. After ALOT of effort they got the M47 out of the slurry. They had just finished packing up the ARV's on the Antar as centurions from the BAOR pass trough and the lead centurion got stuck....on the exact same spot where they just pulled out the M47. The troop commander went "Well issent that bloody convinient! You Belgian lads have brought the ARV!"s"
And thus......they repeated the process. My grandpops unloading the ARV's, the ARVS going to work... pulling out the cent, when a SECOND troop of Centurions arrived and his NCO just went berserk and ran up towards the tanks Yelling and screaming to stop because they were NOT gonna do it a third time and had to go around
That's a nice story
I love reading about these stories being an ex soldiers, but unfortunately, these guys play with tanks but have zero time for ex forces people and they have made that clear many times in their jokes. Where about was your grandad bases in Germany, was he RTR or REME ?
@@Ballentyne817 Belgian armed forces, 16th armoured division Cologne. The belgians & british were doing joint operations that day. They wanted to compare the capabilities of the M47 Patton II and the centurion Mark 5(or 7) to see how well these units could advance alongside eachother
@@Ballentyne817 Really? I never heard Hewes say that on his channel.
@@Ballentyne817First I’ve heard about that.
He’s not so fond of numpty rivet counting exspurts, but ex-services? Nah, I think you’re off target there mate.
many happy returns Mr Hewes!!! Hearing a Chieftain on full chat brought back a lot of happy memories. good to see the old girls out to play. Poor old Jack failing to finish!! Ah well!!🤣
Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday Joe.
One of the few people on the internet today who is genuine and humble here's to many more years of antics with the crew.
I mean no offence to the rest of the "crew", but when Adam drives he just does everything so proficiently. And he drives "anything". Nice to see Fitter Mat again.
When you play in the mud, do you check gearboxes afterwards? My bro, after a 3 years in infantry, switched to Motor Transport. One day, he left a tractor trailer near the water's edge and went looking for the harbormaster to find out where to drop the trailer (I think it had a mine-damaged truck on it). When he came to get his rig, he saw sailors pointing towards the water, laughing. That's when he saw his flashing lights underwater. He and his A driver spent several hours dragging an anchor chain to it to drag the lot out. Afterwards, he drained and replaced all the fluids, and the tractor never gave him a moment's trouble. Happy Birthday Joe.
“Dad, d’you know the Chieftan’s on my foot?”
“You hum it son, I’ll play it!”
PG tip's!!!
I’m pretty sure Adam is the real life version of Oscar the Grouch
Steady
What an absolute blast, it's only a pity that the the guys from Just Stop Oil couldn't make it to join in.
That boy Adam can drive!
Oi Whistling diesel that's how you drive a Chieftain!😂
That's what you call a dirty weekend. 😂
holland is possably cheeper tho
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I wouldnt expect y'all to celebrate any other way!! Cheers to you and another year of the best content videos!
That pond looks about 95% engine oil
It will do with a British Leyland L60 in it, they literally leaked everything. Biggest load of crap ever inflicted on the British Army!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta hand it to Adam, that man can drive a tank! Happy Birthday Joe! Here's to many more beers, shenanigans, and many more restorations!
The Chieftain's sound 🤌🏻
Happy birthday Joe
When the two Chieftain's barrels were tip to tip that was the perfect example of what was REALLY going on here, boys and their toys and all that...
Docking😂
Nothing like the sound of Chieftains in the night, sounds like victory.
The sounds of those engines at full song takes me back to Hohne and our squadron of Engineer variants. A dozen of these along with a bunch of 432's and CET's . All spewing clouds of diesel smoke. Laying bridges, fascines, dozing away obstacles. A great time! And so neat to see them back up and running :)
Awesome day doing tank stuff with your best mates! Cant think of better way to spend a birthday!!
Your still a boy at heart lol. And Happy Birthday from Australia!!
You had me at 55 tonnes of chieftain stuck in a bog. Happy belated birthday and thanks for sharing the journey
Happy birthday Mr Hewes, as usual you are playing with your Tonka toys and having great fun together with your family and friends! 👍👍👍👍👍
The Scammell was hoping for a quiet retirement....... bring on Adam Best...... lol That looked awesome fun!
Glad your Dad could join in the fun. You're building good memories. Cheers on your birthday!
Its your Birthday but we get the presents! Seeing tanks at full chat at night is a real treat. Happy Birthday!
I never would imagine that a tank engine can have such beautiful and smooth high rev note. Lovely thing
Brilliant, just brilliant. Please keep making the videos. Some of the best content around.
Happy Birthday Joe and a great video. Thank you all.
I particularly like the relaxed approach.
Former Centurion platoon commander Dutch army.
This is like a dream come true I’ve always wanted to see actual tanks go off-road like this not on test grounds
Congratulations, and what great fun. This is why you never have just one tank. Thanks.
Happy Birthday Joe - The Tank Master!
For someone who 31 you certainly have so much experience and a vast wealth of knowledge!
Watching these videos that show what you do and are capable of, I think I can safely say, we're all thankful you upload them! Great photos at the end too.
Happy birthday
Reminds me of back in the 80,s my dad was a chieftain tank mechanic
Very impressive hill climbing Guys, Many happy Returns, Joe. And many thanks for the fun.
Adam is a real pro tank driver. Outstanding. 😎👍 Happy Birthday Mr H. 🎉
What utter glorious fun with all the vehicles and NITEX (night exercises) too! What more could a lad want for his birthday. MHR Mr Hewes.
Happy 31st! Hell of a party -- all those toys and all the room you need to play with them. No neighbours to complain about the noise, either. Thanks for sharing.
Are you kidding?? I used to live three miles from Bovingtons testing area and could hear these things as clear as day. Awesome sound. Great day Joe. Happy Birthday
Thanks for the new video. I enjoy watching the procedures with cranes, heavy machines, and manual tools
Greetings from Chile
5:54 did jack have his high heels on so he could reach the pedals?!😂🤣😂🤣
That beats the hell out of Pin the Tail on the Donkey!
Happy Birthday, Joe! Congrats on a banner year for you. Here's to many more. 🍻
I had 3 goes at watching this as work kept getting in the way. Bravo to the messing around in Chieftain tanks as that is what they are designed for. The Scammell takes no prisoners either. Happy Birthday Mr Hewes. You don't look a day older than 35. Kind regards, Steve
The affection for this tank always amazes me. My favorite as well.
Now *that's* a birthday party I'd like to be invited to!
Happy birthday Joe. 🎉 🎂🍺🍺
First off, sorry, didn't get notification of video going up. Happy birthday Joe for whenever is was. Then ... loved the whole birthday celebrations, look like you had a day and a half of it! Made me laugh all the way through, great time was had by all by the look of it! Really, really, really loved watching Adam and the Scammel, they have been one of my favourites for 60+ years and still love 'em. Thanks Joe for being who you are!
Thats how to celebrate a birthday, FANTASTIC video.
🎉Happy Birthday🎉 from America!!! Your channel is one of my shows that I watch!! It’s like a television show to me! And it could be! Love the energy!!
Not gonna lie, demonstrating recovery techniques in such a manner is oddly satisfying to watch for military nerds like me.
Looks like a load of fun was had by all. Wishing Mr Hewes a belated happy birthday !!
this is the Encyclopaedia Britannica definition of, " Big Boys Toys "................wonderful stuff !!!
You just put a smile on my mush...God i remember those engine sounds starting first thing in the morning... when i was in Germany. lots of years ago..Happy birthday . n. thankyou ..
Happy Birthday Joe from Australia. May you be blessed with many more. Cheers.
I see that in order to have one tank, you need at least more, just in case!
That was brilliant and fun to watch so 100% more to be there and Happy Birthday Mr H.
I'm watching this whilst on the bog... Does that count? 😋
Happy Birthday Joe! What a way to celebrate, you boys have the best toys 😂
It’s totally crazy my friend 😭🤩
You would have enjoyed it
When all mechanical sympathy left the room....love it. Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday !!! You are the same age as my Son Lukas ! He fixed his first lawnmower at rhe age of 2and a half ! This stupid Father has destroied it by removing the sparkplug.....so he puts it in again and showed it to his mother.....it was very quiet in the barn so she looked at him. Now gues what he is doing now? He works in a molding plant foundry and repairs old maschines as a Hobby ! Such is life. Best wishes for the next Year, Rudi🍀🍀🍀
Looking at Jack and he always reminds me of Captain Darling from Blackadder series 4.
Thought you was going to say " Baldrick " 😂
Nah its a potato
Hews and crew doing what they do best. got to say I'm envious of you all having the shits and giggles you do. these are the best days of your lives and we get to take a small ride along on here. one of the best channels on tinternet
Happy Belated birthday mate thanks for all the awesome content you chaps are making.
Came to see a few mins, stayed for the lot. A night time tank drag race was not at all what I expected to see lol!
That Scammel is a real unit man, looks absolutely beastly. Happy Birthday!
Looked one 'ell of a day out Joe, and I'd give my right arm to have some of that..!! Happy belated 🍻
Happy Birthday. Love the Scammell but love the sound of the 2 stroke Leyland even more..
Jack is standing up in the tank when driving? , he's too short to be sitting down 😁
Do the driver seats in the tanks raise like the ones in APCs? I've never driven a tank.
Awesome grip without track pads, I never would have believed chieftain could get up such a gradient
Great night driving shots
4:24 “get off my lawn” 🤣
Happy Birthday mate, thanks for the videos.
Happy Birthday!! Love watching the tanks doing their thing. The Scammell is awesome!
Jack has always struck me as the kind of chap who would be first to "up the auntie"
Just epic. Real people having great fun. Happy Birthday Joe
03:23 is Jack standing up on the drivers seat?
Happy Birthday Mr Hewes! Thank you for keeping up, videos of all yours equipments. Happy Birthday Mr Hewes, many happy projects yet to come!
Happy Birthday from Australia Hewesy....where's Ted, hopefully at home in front of the fire fast asleep!
Never would i ever thought id see the day that keir starmer changing fuel filters in the back of chieftain XD love you really Seb haha P.s Happy Birthday!!!!
🤣🤣🤣
So what did you get for your birthday "1000s of pounds worth of diesel"
Happy birthday Joe. That’s the way to spend your birthday, tearing around the farm on tanks and lorry’s 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If I had the money I would have to have a chieftain how good is it and engine sound 😍😍
What a wonderful day. Thank you for sharing it with us.
23:03 Ice Cold in Alex, go in reverse.
Love it ! Happy Birthday Mr Hewes. Also thanks to the rest of the team for keeping me entertained, as well as yourselves!
Happy birthday Mr Hewes reminds me of the stuff we did in the army got a m 60 stuck in an underground wash and got 2 other tanks stuck before the AFV came to rescue us good times man good times.
As much as I like tracked vehicles like every other big kid in the world, those Scammels have a very special place in my heart.
Happy birthday Joe and thank you for all the great hours of video look forward to watching 🎉
Happy birthday from Canada mate! It was so fun to see you and your friends just ripping up everything with that equipment. I have a real soft spot for the concrete chieftain by the way. I hope you get everything sorted on her eventually. She has a lot of heart. Let Jack practice driving her some more please. He seemed to be in his happy place in that tank. The smile on Alan's face when he doesn't quite make it up the hill made me giggle. I love how you guys just turn adversity still into fun. The swearing comes out, but you all just sort it, give it the beans and just keep calm and carry on. I won't be putting my Ford Explorer or Dodge Magnum through the snow in my birthday in January though. That's just asking for trouble and I don't have a chieftain to tow them out... If you wanted to give me an Elvis for my birthday though, I wouldn't complain 😎
I'm glad you had a good birthday. ☺️
I almost have a new favourite truck, that scammel pioneer is the dogs, especially when you consider how old the design is.
Nothing quite like a nice night swim topped with a toaster for that moment to last forever. Happy belated! Mine was on the second. Mine was spent with virtual tanks, and here at 47 a pretty interesting one. Cheers!
Happy birthday Mr Hewes! Looks like you had a cracking time! 😊👌🇬🇧
Best music video in a long time. I also liked the way you learned the instant Cammo technique!
Mr. Hewes has more tanks than our army, so it seems...
Happy birthday! Greetings from 🇳🇱
Talk about "big boys toys"! 😆 (and you all loved every minute of that birthday bash!)
jack starting to look like a dwarf freddie mercury...and happy birthday mr hewes
I loved seeing you having a great big birthday play! A very happy birthday Joe!
Happy birthday! Loved this video of you and your family celebrating your big day! Big boys and their bigger toys!
Happy birthday Squire .. about time you married that young lady of yours 🙂
Happy Birthday 🎉!!!! Loved all the antics on video!!!
