In my opinion, I feel the Broadway version is still much better than any other. I feel there was more intelligence in the songs themselves.
Like, listen to the Full Disclosure in the Broadway version compared to the changed version. "Now, our eldest child can tell what's inside." sounds much more lyrically coherent and interesting than "Now, you better hit that truth, like Babe Ruth!" XD
It also kept in more interesting and funny jokes and lines. Just like you, I loved the "So keep your sunshine" part in the original. It feels so much more empty without it. They even took out the Anthrax joke. I LOVED THAT! 😭
I also do like Gomez in the Broadway more, but I understand why you can't get into the voice. I like the over-the-top accent, though.
I played Lurch, by the way. I got to sing the best song in the show. 😎

yeah omg! watching this cause my high school's doing it and i just got cast as grandma addams! i'm buzzing cause this is my first high school show cause of covid and i love people laughing, cause i'm sp used to getting laughed at... i auditioned for wednesday but im sooooo glad i didn't get her lol, mainly cause i'd have to call my ex daddy otherwise. my theatre nemesis got wednesday tho, but i'm u/s i think!

AHHHH have so much fun! Morticia is probably my favorite role I’ve ever played- one of the few roles where I can honestly say she helped to go love myself. Do you have any thoughts about playing her that you want to share?
@@laurenrogers Yess im so excited!!! One thing I’m not so sure about is the personality she was given in the musical. She just seemed so….mean idk. In the movies she was kind no matter how odd she thought things were. For example in Addams family Values Debbie tells Morticia and Gomez that her children want to go to camp and even tho she thinks it’s odd she still finds the best one because she wants to support her kids. And in the musical I feel like it’s just unrealistic for her to act the way she does sometimes. I grew up watching the Addams family and Morticia was always my favorite because of how supportive and kind and just how cool she was it kind of hurts seeing her how she is in the musical😂. But other than that I’m still very excited!!! This is literally my first show ever and I can’t wait!
@@Magooplia oh my goodness, I kid you not I had the EXACT same problem. This was definitely my biggest hurdle with learning to love this musical but I assure you it is completely possible to overcome. A lot of it is definitely how you deliver your lines: make sure you come across self-assured, but never haughty, sly but never malicious. The most important thing is to make it completely clear that everything Morticia does/says in the musical is out of love for her family and fear of losing them. Her biggest struggle in this musical is learning to accept change, and to accept that just because the people she loves make mistakes doesn’t mean she has to stop loving them. When she finds out Gomez lied to her, focus less on the anger and more on the shock and hurt- if she can’t trust Gomez, she can’t trust anything anymore. Make sure you build a really strong foundation of her love for him so you have the audicence’s sympathy when he betrays that love, and then make the moment when you forgive him super sweet and genuine. Also, play up the dramatic irony in secrets like I talk about in this video!

@@laurenrogers I’m back!! We just finished our last show today and I am HEARTBROKEN LMAO! I’ve grown on our cast so much especially Gomez and Pugsly they have become my best friends and I love them both so much AND IM GONNA MISS THEM!! IVE BEEN CRYING FOR LIKE…EVER LOL
