@@martinh1789 took some adjusting the first month (my back/body was used to sitting in bad chairs), but it has been an AWESOME purchase. Don’t regret paying up at all.
Purchased the Fern Executive model without the lumbar support and have had it since mid-Feb of 2022. Use it at my home office and love it more than the one I use at my company's office which is the HM Aeron. I do miss the mesh seat for cooling properties but the back is so much more to my liking because it has no hard plasic edges on the seat and the back.
@@btodtv Yes, I had visited a Haworth store in my area (Houston, TX) last December and sat on all their chairs for about 2 hours and knew my back didn't need the extra support with the lumbar. I tried the regular Fern with the stock fabric and armrests and the Executive model just felt sooooo luxurious to me. Also it came with the headrest which I wanted. I just knew that if I was going to spend over $1K on a ergo chair that I wanted something that I would enjoy for many years. Also, the regular armrest on the stock felt too "sticky" compared to the executive version which has a smoother texture. Love my Fern so much than when I come home to it even after all day at my work sitting on the Herman Miller Aeron that I can relax and play PC games and watch ESPN on and recline to its full position and crack open a Yuengling :)
@@btodtv Since owning it maybe about 4 hours Monday - Friday (evenings) and a bit more on the weekends. And it's just been a solid piece of engineering. Looks amazing and doesn't give off any gamer vibes but can accomplish many tasks from sitting close to my monitor or just relaxing as far back as I can. Not sure if it was mentioned in your video, but the adjustments of the knobs and levers on it are just excellent and so easy to use. I also wanted to support the family owned business in Michigan and wanted a fully-built office task chair. Also, thank you BTOD for helping me decide on a multitude of ergonomic chairs.
After about a month of owning the Fern, I'm still a big fan. I'm quite happy I picked it up without the headrest and forward tilt, though I think I would have liked the metal base a bit more. Oh well, it's a fantastic chair. Day long chair use back pain is now completely gone.
What I would like to know is what people think of the Fern's optional lumbar support. Which people with which height like/dislike the lumbar support. I can't figure out if it's good for me or not.
We have the "no lumbar" model in the office. It is a quite decent chair without the lumbar, but then I could try the lumbar version in a store. I would say that Fern is better with the lumbar support.

Great video. Been watching your series on these Haworth chair. In my country, only Haworth is available among the "great" brands; no Steelcase, no Herman Miller. Would you recommend the Fern for a shorter guy? I'm like 5'5-5'6 tall. I'm interested to know if similarly built people in your office find the Fern comfortable for their height. Thanks!
Im testing it right now. I am 1,72m i think its near your range. Backrest is good, i dont really like the tilt, because you cant lock it to not move at all and stay in a position. Armrest fit me well at lowest point. I have no headrest and i kinda miss it. Because when i put my head back, the lowest end of my back of the head touches the chair. Its a little unfortunate. @@btodtv I will! In Brazil we don’t have the Steelcase brand so i couldn’t buy the Leap, the aeron was over twice the price of the zody which i paid $590 for. Would you have bought something else?
I got the zody based on the recommendation of this video and did not like it all. Build quality is great, but the seat is too firm, the chair forces you to lean back 10-15 degrees (no upright lock ). Ends up hurting my back a bunch. Ended up getting a Herman Miller embody. It’s a lot nicer and comfortable of a chair…but it’s two times the cost.
@@Yahfz yeah the chair always leans back 10-15 degs and another annoyance if you’re tall the seat only slides back and forward so it leaves a large unsupported area in the back…making it a pretty pointless adjustment. My other issue is haven’t heard back from Haworth about getting a refund. I’ve called twice in the last week. If you can float $1700-$2000 buy a Herman miller embody or aeron. Both felt fantastic and are definitely a step up in quality.
I have the Very. My only problem with it is the arm adjustments are so loose that even getting in and out of the chair, it's prone to move around, and the forward backwards adjustment on it is so loose it moves just moving my arms sometimes. Is there anything to do about that, or just how it is? I also never know where to put the lumbar lol.
I made some research and although the zody seems to look as a nice option it still has very law rating on amazon. And many people complain that it doesn't offer a full upright position. In your video recommendation for the best 10 chairs I think the zody isn't even mentioned. Would you still recommend it? Thanks
The concerns of sitting perfectly upright are valid and that is the reason I don't like it as much. Ryan keeps the mechanism unlocked and turns up the tension to sit more upright. In my opinion, I would either sit in the Soji or the Fern. I know that doesn't fit with Ryan's favorite, but that is my take -GK
Just sat in the Zody and Fern. Loved the back of the Fern. Question on the Zody - does it have a natural lean backwards when “upright?” Maybe it was the one I tested, but when sitting as upright as possible, I was still leaning back slightly. Thanks
