Theres other Catholic islands in the region too like Sumba and Flores in Eastern Indonesia.The difference is that Timor has alot more Melanesian influence same as Eastern Indonesia,than the Phillipines.

I'm from East timor and I my parents and grandparents always tell me stories of what they were doing when the country was invaded. My grandpa became a strategist for FALINTIL(the military branch of the current political party and yes political parties are allowed to have their own military.)

After deciding to leave Indonesia, east timor until now it is listed as the 10 poorest countries in the world, while Indonesia itself is one of the countries with the strongest economy. proven by its membership in the G-20. Hi Jesrael Duay, there is no direct flight from Manila to Timor. If you want to travel to Timor, you need to fly from Manila to Bali first if you have a direct flight to Bali. Then you can fly from Bali to Dili (Timor-Leste).

Your video is fantastic but you missed something here , in 1942 to 1945 Timor Leste was occupied by Japan . A lot of Timorense were killed by Japanese soldiers because they were helping Australian soldiers against Japanese invasion . You mention East Timorense did not accept portuguese languages ? I think you should do profound research. In 1999 there were few Timorense can speak Portuguese but after three years till now more than 60% Timorense can speak well portuguese. For us to learn Portuguese is not difficult because it is almost 50% Portuguese words mix up with tetun . We absorb more words from portuguese into our tetun . I can resume here that from those countries which ever occupied east Timor like ( Portugal, Japan and Indonesia) Indonesia was the worst one . What they did in East Timor was intolerable . It was so cruel and inhuman being. But it was part of our history . We have forgotten our past now we are looking in the future . My comment just added up to your video . I appreciate what you have done .

You failed to mention the roles of USA, AUS and MY who supported Indonesia in entering East Timor/Timor L'Este. You also failed to mention that in 400 years of Portuguese colonialization, their infrastructure is very much lagging behind other parts of Indonesia as a former Dutch colony, therefore Indonesia had to spend a higher percentage of its national budget; in comparison to bigger provinces. And you conveniently skipped out that the pro independence movement slaughtered many pro-Indonesia ET people.
