"The epitome of excellence in aviation" a quote from the Captain. To me, in a way, the retirement of Concorde without a replacement may well go down as one the saddest moments in history. It was the day we went back instead of going forward.
Even a replacement can’t match the magnificence of Concorde. The boom project and whatever other joke there is out there are just shitty compared to Concorde. Every line of the design of Concorde is graciously beautiful !
I agree with you 110%. The Boom Overture is a joke compared to Concorde. She will always be the Queen of the Skies for me. 👑 So stunningly beautiful. 😎👍🏽
I remember being 6, and my parents saved and saved and saved every pound they could for holiday to New York. They spent half our holiday budget taking Concorde there. We took a regular airliner back. It was night and day!
September 1989 flew Concorde New York to London - a thrilling experience - takeoff was like I imagine a rocket ship to feel like - still have luggage tags , menu etc - haha
Years ago, we lived in Reno, Nevada. One day, I saw the Concorde flying over the hills to the east. I don't know why they were there, but they were beautiful. Years before that, we lived in Las Vegas, and I saw a Vulcan flying over the hills near Nellis Air Force Base. Both planes were unforgettable. There was something about those beautiful machines.....
I actually made a double barrel with a Concorde in Real Flight Simulator … with passengers. 😂😅 (A of vomit sounds came to my mind and the passengers were so angry at me 😡)
Thanks, taken from the 'Reaching for the Skies' series, probably the best aviation series ever made. I've put a couple of other videos from the series on as well
A very beautiful video of a most beautiful aircraft ever made! Five Star. Too bad I didn't get a chance to fly in one of these. Now they're history! Thanks for posting it! B-D
It is from the series 'Reaching for the Skies' form the late 1980s. Can't remember the specific episode though. The entire series if worth getting though, probably the best aviation series ever made
I want to see the roll! The bit near the end showing Concorde, The Red Arrows, and the QE2 is an awesome sight - shame it's one that can be never repeated. It momentarily made me feel proud to be British again.
Used to love seeing the Concorde when it was occasionaly diverted to BDL due to NYC weather issues. The analog cockpit is a trip to see on such an incredible machine!
there is a lovley saying of a "concorde moment" this is when one single creation advances enginering within its field by generations and decades. This is very well named. Concorde was one of a kind.
Ailerons are the flaps on the wings which are used to turn left and right in the air. A barrel roll is where the plane rolls over 360 degrees and back into level flight. Type in vulcan bomber barrel roll, that shows it pretty well.
I used to live in the south of Ireland by the coast, we would regularly hear the sonic boom of her when she was in service. Haven't heard one since she was grounded :(
It was a sad day when the US government forced the cancellation of the Boeing SST, it was an even sadder day when Concorde was retired without a replacement.
Odd how for a fleeting moment in history, we had a commercial plane like the Concord, and now no more. Who knows if we'll ever see anything like it again, even as increasingly 'high tech' as things have become. Awesome in flight photography!
It's a visor that smooths the profile to lessen wind resistance in high speed flight. But it obscures the view for landings and taxiing, so they retract it then.
Amazing...thanks for the vid, don't know how I have missed it for this long. That is one hardcore beautiful flying machine. 10k f/p/m on a normal takeoff? The plane was way ahead of it's time and still is even in retirement.
Yes, remember that being said on the BBC 'Concorde Special' about Alpha Alpha after her first D-Check. Will have to try to put that on here at some point.
and once again,. in 40 years of flying, it only crashed once... i went inside one today, at east fortune museum... it was spectacular, im an aero engineeringin student, and from that standpoint (and my preffessors influence) the concorde is the greatest aercraft ever built :P
@wikichris I also think it is a bit much to say that Concorde had no military applications. The engines were military-grade and used in several other military aircraft; the fly-by-wire system now so common in military craft was developed and honed here because this was the first point it was no just a benefit, but necessary to getting the job done. It was even used in simulations to see if NATO defenses could detect and intercept a supersonic bomber like the TU-160.
I miss the noise this thing made flying over my house! it made everybody stop. what a great aircraft, Would have loved to fly this great machine! You will be missed!
@SSgtParmer Yeah, if I remember rightly a) The USA had no operational mach 2 airliner and b) To quote NASA "Putting a man on the moon was easy compared to getting Concorde to work". We Brits (with some help from the French) built it, it flew, it flew for a long time and has never and will never be replaced. Most glorious aircraft which ever flew and ever will.
@wikichris It did make a profit for the operator. If you're going by development costs, then most planes aren't profitable, but were necessary stepping stones to other models. The thrust-by-wire system of the Concorde was a world first that was used by American manufacturers in every Boeing plane today; if we didn't pay for the development, it may never have happened at all. Same with the B-1 bomber leading to the CM-56 Engine, now equipped to a fair chunk of the world's passenger aircraft.
That's the nose - It comes down when the Concorde would taxi, take-off or land, but moves back up when it's inflight so it can break the sound barrier! ^^
The Avro Arrow was designed, built and flown in Canada years before the concorde was put into production. If you look at the two planes you notice they're deesigns are very similiar as the wings are incorparated into the fuselage allowing the plane to acheive speeds of mach 2 or higher.
It wasn't a civilian SST plane though, it was the RCAF who wanted it as an interceptor. It reached Mach 2. Which is phenomenal, given it was a 1950s project, nevertheless, concorde was a passenger SST capable of Mach 2.02 and 100 passengers plus crew. It was a fine bird the Arrow, and cost killed it, this almost sealed concordes fate too, spiralling costs, but the Brits and French government worked together to save the project. A real shame as the Arrow flew beautifully, but it wasn't in concordes league.
Another is on display at Boeing Field, of all places, at the Seattle Museum of Flight. Worth checking out if you're anywhere near. Yes, they let you inside.
it is part of a documentary called "Concorde the worlds greatest airliner" it is on youtube in about 5 parts, if noel edmond is hosting you got the right one
And that's 38000 pounds of thrust out of each engine and there are four of them! immense power from those Rolls Royce Olympus re- heated engines amazing!!!
The SR-71's skin shrank due to it cooling down from the excessive heat it was subjected to at higher speeds and altitude. It was designed to do this to stop it from cracking instead
on my 9th day on my new job.. it costed me $25.76 to fly to JFK to see Concord in person.. it was amazing!!! i had the chance to fly on it $800 one way to London, but i chicken out!! the biggest regret of my life
@brightlights456X Do you know why the SR71 leaks fuel? IT IS DESIGNED THAT WAY. The plane will be ''loose'' during take off, and upon reach cruise speeds at over MAch3, the body will expand due to the intense heat from friction. The expansion will then fit the ''gaps''.
@brightlights456X well they are designed for different rolls, but the Concorde was/is much harder to do, the big boss at NASA when he hear of the Concorde project say to make a passenger aircraft to cross the Atlantic at mach 2 will make putting man on the moon seem like a walk in the park.well history will tell you the the US made it to the moon but had 2 or 3 failed attempt's at a supersonic airliner, i think this is what makes Concorde so special
The Concorde was built by Aérospatiale (EADS) and British Aircraft Corporation (BAE Systems) beside it, the TU-144 was built by the russians. One Concord Crashed in 2000, so 2003 was their last commercial flight. Now the remaining Concordes are at some Museums like charles de gaulle, heathrow, seattle. i think the concorde was cancelled for flights because its an amazingly ecpensive aircraft.
@napoleontak The Concorde was very special, it was the only aircraft of it's kind and is unique in aviation history. Flew as fast as a fighter, had the highest ceiling of any passenger aircraft in history and could cruise at mach 2.2. The Lockheed Martin QST which is currently in development will only be able to manage a snail like mach 1.6 to 1.8. Where Britain led, the rest of the world follows some years later!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. We have not seen anything like her since. 😢😞
I agree with you 110%. The Boom Overture is a joke compared to Concorde. She will always be the Queen of the Skies for me. 👑
So stunningly beautiful. 😎👍🏽

what an amazing shot of Concorde, QE2 and the Red arrows at 4:20 :)
Awesome...thank you for sharing that....I miss flying on her...I was fortunate to spend 7 years operating on her...brings a tear to my eye!...
Years ago, we lived in Reno, Nevada. One day, I saw the Concorde flying over the hills to the east. I don't know why they were there, but they were beautiful. "We don't do it with passengers on"
Why not? That would've been fun!
I would pay twice for them to do that with me onboard.
I actually made a double barrel with a Concorde in Real Flight Simulator … with passengers. 😂😅 (A of vomit sounds came to my mind and the passengers were so angry at me 😡)
Civilisation took a backwards step when we lost Concorde.
Not really though?
Patrick Jan Nieznanski no, really.
If we had planes like Concord back then, imagine what we might have now, such a shame we lost a piece of British/French history that day
Lol you’re an idiot aren’t you
Great. Most beautiful plane ever.
The Boeing 707 test pilot also did a barrel roll
Tex Johnston !!!!
@@nicholasjohnson6724 Not the rolls I saw.. that was an aileron roll.. Totally different.
The most elegant commercial aircraft ever created by man. Thanks for 27 years of service 🫡
the best collaboration between English and
French ...
and what a fantastic video...!
thank you very much, guy...
merci beaucoup...

the view head-on above the clouds is fantastic.
Peppy at radio:"Do a barrel roll!"
Captain:"WTF?"
*does barrel roll*
Captain: O_o
great pilot and wonderful airplane
That is one beautiful bird.
It is from the series 'Reaching for the Skies' form the late 1980s. Can't remember the specific episode though. The entire series if worth getting though, probably the best aviation series ever made
My dad used to record every episode for me to watch, the intro music was great!
Used to watch them training pilots at Prestwick airport back in the day. Touching down then accelerating back into the sky, it was awesome to watch.
God I miss her!!!! she was such a graceful bird, there will never be another like it and thats sad. I'm glad I got to see it fly a couple times.
I coudlnt adore this aircraft any more! Love it!
Thanks for this video. It's really nice. The pilots who flew this beauty, had the nicest job in the world. I hope she will be back one day.
That is insane! An awesome engineering marvel!
I want to see the roll!
The bit near the end showing Concorde, The Red Arrows, and the QE2 is an awesome sight - shame it's one that can be never repeated. It momentarily made me feel proud to be British again.
Remember this programme as a teenager and Concorde in the old Landor BA livery of the 80s and 90s
Used to love seeing the Concorde when it was occasionaly diverted to BDL due to NYC weather issues. The analog cockpit is a trip to see on such an incredible machine!
I have been on the British Airways Concord three times.. It was great... I will remember the aircraft... Beautiful...
I went to RAF duxford last week and had the chance to go on board a concord! Even stationary these planes are amazing!
This vid is beatiful! One of the best, thanks for sharing.
I love the part with the QE2, two legends together
yeah that touch and go was sweet....didnt even let the nose gear touch down
i used to live in london, notting hill.
concorde would fly over, it was such a beautiful sight.

Beautiful aircraft. As an airline pilot i have always dreams of flying her, sad to think that will now never be possible. Great clip, thanks.
Gorgeous plane!
The most beautiful airliner ever, just awesome !
Wow, I saw this plane so many times and that is the only word for it! Wow!
I used to live in the south of Ireland by the coast, we would regularly hear the sonic boom of her when she was in service. Haven't heard one since she was grounded :(
outstanding piece of engineering
Love this video.Simply beautiful !
Concorde, you magnificent beast! ❤️❤️❤️
My grandad did the barrell roll as the flight engineer who has also wrote the haynes manual for concorde!
It was a sad day when the US government forced the cancellation of the Boeing SST, it was an even sadder day when Concorde was retired without a replacement.
i miss the concorde...just imagine a world with it...man I miss it

time wel spent, thanks for posting, pity i never flew in one, but non the less concorde will be a ledgend for hundreds of years

Not a day goes by where I don't regret not flying on the beautiful aircraft. You can keep you 787s and A380s this was the true goddess of flight.
Excellent, thats what i was looking for, thank you!
I've actually seen footage of that Concorde barrel roll - unbelievable!!
Gone but never forgotten.
AWESOME video. I had no idea how that thing could climb.
What a fabulous video. I miss hearing the sonic boom of those.
Take of on runway 27L at Heathrow, then shows her rotate of runway 12 at Prestwick. Cool video on the greatest civil airliner to ever fly
and once again,. in 40 years of flying, it only crashed once...
i went inside one today, at east fortune museum... it was spectacular, im an aero engineeringin student, and from that standpoint (and my preffessors influence) the concorde is the greatest aercraft ever built :P
How anyone could have something bad to say about this beautiful marvel of technology is, and will always be, a mystery to me.
Whoa!!! Concorde was amazing!!! I'm pissed I never got to fly on one.
V1, V2, positive rate, gears up... love those words.
2:56 is when he starts to talk about the barrel roll

Speedbird still loved!
SIXTY THOUSAND FEET? WHAT THE FLOCK?
Hello young GroundPound69
It's normal for supersonic plane to reach that
@@achmadramadhani9513 he is fully aware.
That takeoff at the start is breathtaking
Love the 70s/80s electronica at the end.
I miss the noise this thing made flying over my house! it made everybody stop. what a great aircraft, Would have loved to fly this great machine!
You will be missed!
She is still, and will always, be missed.
I know! Whenever I see one of these pass me in the street I would be amazed!
@dc2man123 The Air France crash did not put Concordes out of production. The last one rolled off the line over 20 years before that happened...
The best airplane EVER made!!
@SSgtParmer

It is such a pity that Concorde did not fly anymore :-((((
It was and is the most wonderful plane in world.
this is on of THE BEST Airplane EVER
no footage of the barrel-roll itself. He's talking about when it was done
The narrator is Anthony Quale, Ice Cold in Alex, which he starred in as the German officer.
Thanks for your comments, couldn't agree more

Concorde was the pinacle of our civilization. It was civilian, beautiful and unmatched by anything else, including military aircraft.
