Reaching for the Skies - Concorde Captain talks about Barrel Roll
มุมมอง 669K17 ปีที่แล้ว
Reaching for the Skies - Concorde. Brian Walpole talks about the aircraft and the occasion when he barrel-rolled her!
The most elegant commercial aircraft ever created by man. Thanks for 27 years of service 🫡
Ou est le Monsieur Trubshaw? Monty Python want to know.
It was a sad day when the US government forced the cancellation of the Boeing SST, it was an even sadder day when Concorde was retired without a replacement.
Deos anyone know name of that music at 2:37 ? Update i found it th-cam.com/video/mLDrLKEz_NE/w-d-xo.html
Speedbird still loved!
I'm not surprised the Concorde could do a barrel roll. She had James Floyd (The designer of the Avro Arrow) on her design team.
Love this aircraft. Shame the French had to ruin it for everyone.
Is this part of a full documentary? If so what's it called?
reaching for the skies
One of the biggest regrets i have in life is that i never flew on this magnificent aircraft ............
You missed a thrilling lifetime experience . I was fortunate in 1989 to fly Concorde - London - New York - rockship take off - tiny windows but sensational in every way
That, my friends, is the sound of WAR. I witnessed many of these take-offs and fly-passes in the 70's as my dad took us to Biggin Hill and other air displays. Thank you Dad, Rest In Peace XXX
I miss her.
Oh, so much! Air displays just are not the same, with or without the Red Arrows!
Absolutely fantastic, what an aircraft, what a noise and what a pleasure to see that beauty fly. Simply the best
When that stupendous concorde was taken out of service, we went almost 40 years back in entire aviation industry!
She was designed and built like a fighter, it's only natural that she could roll.
Concorde, you magnificent beast! ❤️❤️❤️
That Captain terrifies me, not knowing that the aircraft had NO IDEA it was upside down, due to maintaining a steady 1G. "Nothing fell off while upside down." Lol, if something falls off in ANY condition, you have a deep, underlying problem.
Hahahahahha so hilarious.
September 1989 flew Concorde New York to London - a thrilling experience - takeoff was like I imagine a rocket ship to feel like - still have luggage tags , menu etc - haha
haha trust the french to do this kind of French Air Force trick. Tribute to Jean Franchi
Remember this programme as a teenager and Concorde in the old Landor BA livery of the 80s and 90s
Used to watch them training pilots at Prestwick airport back in the day. Touching down then accelerating back into the sky, it was awesome to watch.
I wonder, by keeping a gradual positive G while doing a barrel roll (As mentioned by the pilot), assuming the passenger windows are down and therefore no way of visually telling that they went inverted. Would a passenger "feel" that a stunt has been pulled while they're having a meal? Cause it would be hysterical if one of them was having a bite of a well-done steak and a sip of champagne only to their horror as they look out the window and saw that the cloud layers are now "Above" them XD
I remember being 6, and my parents saved and saved and saved every pound they could for holiday to New York. They spent half our holiday budget taking Concorde there. We took a regular airliner back. It was night and day!
just amazing 👌
I really wish I could have flown on this remarkable aeroplane!!!!
Like the Space Shuttle, the Concorde was a magnificent machine that was too expensive to keep flying. Mankind is finding the practical limits of how far they can go; people's imagination can dream up all kinds of ideas, but they're not "worth" it. Trips to Mars, anyone? It'll take $$Billions, and resources out the wazoo - meanwhile, on earth whole societies are going down the drain with lawlessness everywhere.
When Retired should have gone to RAF as supersonic bomber....
B.A. Made Concorde available for a NATO Exercise in the North Sea, when various Aircraft from NATO pursued Concorde in a Supersonic Tail-chase... The only one to catch it? BAE Lightning...
Years ago, we lived in Reno, Nevada. One day, I saw the Concorde flying over the hills to the east. I don't know why they were there, but they were beautiful. Years before that, we lived in Las Vegas, and I saw a Vulcan flying over the hills near Nellis Air Force Base. Both planes were unforgettable. There was something about those beautiful machines.....
Great. Most beautiful plane ever.
Easily the best looking aircraft ever produced.
Fake, no images shown.
Take of on runway 27L at Heathrow, then shows her rotate of runway 12 at Prestwick. Cool video on the greatest civil airliner to ever fly
And that's 38000 pounds of thrust out of each engine and there are four of them! immense power from those Rolls Royce Olympus re- heated engines amazing!!!
A great plane, destroyed by an American airline's negligence.
I went to visit RAF barkston heath before RAF coningsby to do some plane spotting I had a lunch break there and had a rest before continued to RAF coningsby Willow Holt campsite
Exclente estos, documentales de la BBC de la historia de la aviación ¿cual es el tema musical de este vídeo?
Anthony Quayle narrates?
So he just took the Concorde for a ride one day and did a roll, and nobody noticed? BULLSHIT!
Familiarisation flight with no passengers - watch it again...
Ah, the V bombers. Vulcan, Victor, Valiant. Magnificent era of the British aircraft industry.
Star Fox would be proud.
now its 2014. cant we revisit this amazing feat and do it properly this time?
No doubt we could, but it would cost too much.
+jack black Kinda need a working plane for that... All of them were decommissioned over ten years ago in a way that you can't just put them back together. You'd basically have to rebuild one.
+L.G.H. Djoetma they are bringing one back, im sure i read it last week.
RobinHoodUKIP Where?
www.zmescience.com/science/supersonic-passenger-flight-043232/ *****
Awesome video. I'm curious how they recorded footage of the concorde flying right in front of the videographer!
Maybe fying behind a fighter with a fixed camera onboard or perhaps is a scale model
....very carefully 👍
The Boeing 707 test pilot also did a barrel roll
Tex Johnston !!!!
@@nicholasjohnson6724 Not the rolls I saw.. that was an aileron roll.. Totally different.
That is insane! An awesome engineering marvel!
What documentary was this from please ?
Ha! Concorde beats the A380!
Of course, 2hrs 53 mins versus 8. What can I say?
Here's my reaction to it ending service without me getting to fly on it: /watch?v=PVu949oYnXg
Whoa!!! Concorde was amazing!!! I'm pissed I never got to fly on one.
Yes there is ;)
