I love how this guy, instead of just reviewing and commenting about the movie, goes the extra mile to make his content more interesting and actually adds some acting to his videos to make it more then a regular review. Thanks for the amazing videos
and I believe that the amazing world of Elmore happens to be an American future evolution of Wonderland which makes Gumball Watterson descended from the Cheshire cat
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland feels more like Narnia with a bunch of Lewis Carroll references, they even made the Dormouse into a Reepicheep knockoff. If they really wanted a dark Alice in Wonderland they should have made an American McGee's Alice adaption which did it much better.
This movie probably would've been better as one of Henry Selick's stop motion films. Tim Burton could've served as producer like he did on Nightmare Before Christmas.
Honestly, it's refreshing to see someone actually give these movies some appreciation. The first movie is one of my favorite LA remakes and I never understood why so many people hated it. Even if this is 3 years late, thank you for your perspective.
Finally, a reactor that liked these movies. Most of them think the first one was shit and the second one was ok. I on the other hand enjoyed both of them (the sequel a little bit more) so its nice to see a reactor that also enjoyed them
f off to haters of the films... OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!!!!!! WE\ I WANT THE THIRD MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #ALICEINWONDERLAND #DANNYELFMAN #TIMBURTON #DISNEY #WALTDISNEYSTUDIOS #DISNEYSTUDIOS #DISNEYPICTURES #DISNEYPRODUCTIONS #DISNEY
Please don't say Welsh and English accents are the same and Scottish ones are different. Welsh accents are musical, Scottish accents are determined, and English ones are dry in the south, and in the north are enthusiastic.
Ah right. I just saw a dragon that is red in your profile pic and thought, "Possibly a Cymro." Lol Sorry about that, mate. I do have some friends from England so like I'm not hating or anything lol
Personally in my opinion, American Mcgee's Alice is the best Alice. It's closer to the source material, it takes a darker turn without it trying to be edgy, the writing is really good, and she's actually british.
After seeing NC's reviews of the Alice in Wonderland movies, I must admit that I like your review much more. Though NC's reviews are always containing exaggerated reactions and scenes with actors, the comment on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland feels really mean-spirited. I have to agree that Tim Burton's version was a little bit dull but there were still some good scenes and it didn't deserve to be insulted like that. Your opinion on movies feel more honest to me. You try to see the good in every movie and appreciate good moments even if the whole movie is terrible. You are fair with your criticism and still manage to be entertaining. NC's reviews are entertaining, but often mean-spirited, exaggerated and sometimes even insulting. You don't need to scream like a monkey and insult fans of a movie to make a review. And I love the fact that you keep your format of only reviewing movies for kids and don't end up reviewing other movies just because everyone is watching them. Thank you so much for all these great reviews.
I see your point and respect it however I love NC he’s changed my life for the better, I never thought deep about films animation or the art of storytelling, or the importance of children’s story writing ✍️ until I started watching he’s reviews. He’s loud but to be bombastic and unapologetic with who he is and that I respect.
The reason the dormouse was so drowsy in the book was entirely because of its species - they're not regular house mice/fieldmice, they're a different but similarly-sized rodent that goes into a form of hibernation and spends an inordinate amount of time sleeping beyond that. The "dor" is from the same root as "dormant". I know this because I was looking for mice with hairy tails when designing a character of my own, and was pleasantly surprised to find that a dormouse was a real thing rather than being like the Mock Turtle or Bread and Butterfly.
Nice to see someone knows this. I doubt most people these days know what a dormouse is. This girl in the movie acted more like a hyperactive shrew, and yeah, the design, with the sword, was too much like Reechicheep from Narnia. It was a really stupid decision.
Once again, I applaud you for sticking with your opinion. I don't particularly like either of these movies, but I can see why you do, which is a sign of a good critic if they are able to present their opinions in a way the opposite side can enjoy. However, what keeps me from enjoying these films is that they add too much logic and modernism into the story (why does every live action fantasy film these days have to be about war), and Alice herself is a bland piece of cardboard who barely emotes or influxes her voice. But I'm glad you found the plot and the updated characters to your liking.
I agree with you. I hate it how the movie tried too hard to take itself seriously with the prophecy and be all dark and gritty for the sake of it. Also the tone was so inconsistent that it prevented me from enjoying it, like the movie was bipolar.
It really is. One moment you have the Mad Hatter shouting jibbrish, and the next they're talking about Wonderland politics. On the one had you could say this shows how mad the characters are, but then their actions have too much logic and consistency between them. And Alice, despite being the "innovator" of her time period, does nothing until the very end of the film to support this. I remember near the beginning, she saw these two women who she'd apparently caught skinny dipping, and you know what, THAT sounds more challenging to the establishment than anything Alice said or does in this film or its sequel.
Samaru onesixthree This comment made me a bit more hopeful about being honest on the internet. On the internet, if you like something that everyone else hates or hate something that everyone else likes, regardless of whether or not your reasons are flimsy, you'll get bullied to hell and back, and it's both very stressful and very annoying. It's even more annoying when the perception of a movie was changed because of _one_ popular TH-camr's review of it. Even if I like that reviewer's opinion as well as the reviewer themself's, it would still get annoying when everyone suddenly treats it like fact just because of one person's opinion.
I agree on all points. I'm not sure if the Alice's problem of being bland is an issue with the character or an issue with the actress (I'd like to think it's latter since she barely ever emotes). Also, while I admire Burton's attempt to modernize the Wonderland setting, I think the books have a little more story than he gives them credit for. Alice goes through a very fascinating character arc in regards to the way she perceives nonsense. At first, she finds it whimsical and enchanting, but the more she tries to wrap her brain around it, the more she finds that the very nature of Wonderland won't allow her to. Thus, the conflict forms as she finds herself struggling to decide if she should fight the madness or accept it at face value for the sake of survival. In fairness, the conflict is never actually resolved since Alice wakes up before she can discover if logic truly does triumph in the end, but there is a conflict nonetheless; as well as a plot progression.
I agree on Alice's development in the book, which can also be seen in shades in the Disney cartoon. That's why I blame the actress and the voice direction more than the character, since Kathryn Beaumont did a good job as Alice in the animated film. In that film she was still polite and dignified, like women were at the time, but she had her limits. She could get angry or sad, or just show emotion. That made her more relatable and human. This Alice, on the other hand, never emotes, never seems to be amazed or shocked by what she's seeing, and always talks like she just woke up and hasn't had coffee. The movies try to tell me that she is a free thinker like her father, but it does nothing to support this outside of the very end where she becomes a trader and... dances while showing her feet. Again, I find the two girls who skinny dipped off-screen as more "against the norm" than this Alice is, and they had 30 seconds of screentime.
This review just made me miss Alan Rickman and Sir Christopher Lee. R.I.P. :( Other than that, these movies aren't my taste, but Bobsheaux's reviews are always the best. :)
I personally think, that the main beef with those movies is that they are based on a story, which is about a world, which is mad and has no rules, and add rules and epic stuff. I don't like them for this, but honestly, if we take them on their own merit, disregarding the book, they are pretty cool.
I just realized that this movie is like Return to Oz. It's a dark sequel that involves the fantasy world being in ruins since the first story due to some sort of evil.
I have more of a problem with the sequel than the first one. Though the first one wasn't that great the second one actually made me livid. It gave a redemption arc to a character that was quite frankly an ass. She slayed an entire village with a giant dragon, enslaved people/animals, murdered people on the regular having a moat with their heads literally floating around her castle and was a domestic abuser. She killed her first husband the Red King, then would slap around Stayne(though he was a jerk as well), and literally tried to kill Time in the second movie. The second movie should be titled "Father Time's Death" because all we are watching is this poor man deteriorating and in constant pain. The Red Queen literally physically assaults him in the first twenty damn minutes of the movie. Her redemption arc is not only forced, but you expect me an audience member to be sympathetic to her after she abused a man who did nothing but lover her the entire run time of this film? Her purpose for him was clear. It was to get to the Chronosphere by any means and that even meant tying him up and leaving him to die. Really expecting me to believe she deserves redemption? HELL NO! It's clear these writers didn't give any thought to this. If you have a character that has done THIS many heinous things the redemption arc is SOOOO out of the question it's all the way past Pluto. Just every time she was on screen with Time I cringed so hard it physically hurt me. What the hell kind of message are you sending your audience by giving someone like this a redemption arc? I am really starting to hate Disney's "anyone can change and be good" mentality in these movies. NO, a SORRY is not going to change all the heinous things her and her sister did. This movie is a horribly written mess where they try to push the "women empowerment" message SO hard it backfires. What kind of empowerment message are you sending by having one of your female characters abuse, manipulate, belittle, gas light and leave their lover to die? This movie. WOW! Just WOW!
I like the sequel better than the first one. It was more colorful and mad as Disney's version, it had a touching lesson about families, and time had the perfect casting. And your show is totally worth it too. Love ya bob
It's so nice to see a reviewer that doesn't bash these two movies to high heaven! I really like these two movies and seeing every reviewer I watch just bash the crap out of them constantly really sucked. So thank you for having a different opinion!
14 years and 6 months of time we're granted to my dog before time took her from me today...But that is the one thing it can't take away from me. Thanks for a little sunlight on a cloudy day.
Either way, really disliked both Johnny Depp's portrayal, and the character design. The Hatter should not be pretty. I am OK with him being tall - that's fine - but he should look more unkempt and eccentric. Not like a frickin' superhero.
Victoryismine987 Maybe its some weird time thing. Something happens in the wonka timeline to destroy that time but wonka survives. A new timeline begins and wonka becomes the hatter.
As a digital artist, I feel really bad because of the fact that I have not much audience to speak of. But I like the phrase: "No matter how small your audience is, keep up the good work" So let me just say: i will forever be your loyal viewer, and sir, you made a bang up job time and time again And I hope to one day watch a movie directed by a very certain Robert Thomas Also, that goatee is se-xay
Honestly, after so many have hated these for existing, this was, pun completely intended, a fresh cup of tea. Seeing someone, much less a great reviewer, not stooping to following the same love/hate trends we as a community have built up (I.e. OoT is the best because old and Undertale sucks because memes), is a great refresher. I personally like these, and think that the sequel is better for not relying on Burton's over saturation of dark colors, so good on you for giving us a unique and positive review for this. (And for making it both films, I didn't see that coming) Kudos to you Bob, may the force be with you.
I would've liked these movies a thousand times more if they had the original stories with the same Burton coat of paint, but even so they're decent enough. Anyway, I'm sure whatever you're up to you haven't been wasting time, and when you get around to making videos they're always great. You're a genuine guy who really keeps in touch with his fans, and that is admirable. Keep it up!
That ending was awesome! It reminded me why I watch your reviews: It is because I enjoy when you are looking at a movie from a different perspective that I did not think of (even if I may not always agree about it). Also because you inspire me to not be ashamed of who I am, and to not be afraid to share what you think. Two reviews that reminded me that are this one and the Cool Cat ones. (Take that Daddy Derek!!) Don't stop being inspired or inspiring us, no matter what anybody says. We love you Bobsheaux!
Instantly love everything about your show just from your using the most empowering line in movie history . . . You have no power over me! I loved the first one and I was blown away by the message of the second. Having just lost a family member, it was incredibly touching to see that message about time giving before it takes. And not only are you horribly underrated, you're one of the most original and creative reviewers who still humbly acknowledges his predecessors. I will always support this channel and know that if you ever decide to visit the home of MST3K here in Minnesota, you'll have a fanbase!
Having said that, very nice to see you give positive reviews to both movies! Too often TH-cam reviewers (like Doug Walker) complain about them being nothing like the book and argue that makes them suck somehow.
Permission for a hug? Bobsheaux, it's okay to take your time with these things, and it's okay to take breaks. All in all, I enjoyed this arc, and your content as a whole. Enjoy Free Comic Book Day this weekend!
It's so refreshing to hear someone praise Burton and not say it's past his time. He gets so much hate for this and Charlie and the Chocolate factory because they weren't exact copies of others works or aren't dark and full of nightmare fuel. I got so mad at the Nostalgia Critic review of this movie, because he said that "American McGee did a better Tim Burton Alice than Burton did.". No!!! American McGee did a Great DARK take on Alice, while Burton tried to find more of a balance with how the story is seen, not too dark and not too light, it's in a spot where it's hard to tell. Honestly my main problem is the lead actress.
For me these two movies were a mixed bag. Visually it captured Wonderland absurdly and creatively. I didn't like some of the needless changes (especially the "underland " and making the queen of hearts the same as the red queen) or making the plots generic fantasy tropes for the most part. I guess I expected Tim Burton to play with the weirdness of Louis Carrol a bit more.
I saw the sequel with my family in the theater, and while the first two acts were pretty standard, the minute the Red Queen rusted over, my sister and I sat up in our seats and watched what was one of the most batshit time travel nightmarefuel climaxes that I've ever seen so far. Its the best part of the movie hands down, but aside from that, the fate of the Knave of Hearts and Alice leading the ship at the beginning, I honestly would want to rewatch the first one all the way through. But back to the time travel, out of all the ways to show what happens if you meet your past self, it has to be the horrific, frozen eternally way, not that its a terrible idea or not entertaining. I have to say, I laughed at the image of Alice, the Hatter, the White Queen and rusted Red Queen inside the chronosphere ship. It was such a tense moment in the film as they sailed through the sea of time, but that short scene made it downright hilarious. I do feel awful for every young child who saw that. It may not have been for long, but some scary moments can stay with you for a long time, and I feel like it was a jarring tonal shift and would be on par with a jumpscare. Hell, they even freeze on Alice's face when you think everything's gone wrong, to let the nightmare fuel sink all the more into the children's minds! And while I feel that children do need to be shown scary things, I think this toes the line a little.
Eh...I'm glad you enjoyed this, but the CGI/intentional uncanny valley thing doesn't really hold water when you consider that all his his recent films have been total CGI fests. And nothing can excuse the dreadful performance of Alice herself. THAT SAID, your finale was spot on. We love you, and I'm so happy to have watched you gain success.
A lot of people say the scroll thing was a plothole but I think it was a really cool addition as a nod back to the second book. The white queen mentions to Alice that in Wonderland, memory goes both ways so a scroll depicting the history of Underland both forwards and backwards in time makes sense
I didn't find out that Moff Tarkin was computer generated in Rouge One until after I saw it, so I think those special effects are better than they're often given credit for. Same goes for most computer effects today. So I don't think this was Tim Burton wanting to exploit the "uncanny valley" (which I don't get so much from stuff personally, except for maybe The Polar Express to some degree?) so much as it was him trying to have an endless canvas to work with.
Spectacular job on this review! And how wonderful that you are free from that time-loop. I speak of all of your fans that we will never leave you. I'm indifferent to these movies but I thought you would have hated them.
Right, that dance scene would not be out of place with the music you inserted....but that's not the music they chose and it's asking a whole lot of the audience to imagine different, more appropriate music. But if I ever see this movie again, that music will be in my personal head canon!
7:56 - 8:26: It's like the Nostalgia Critic said "If you want to make an Adaptation, you got to make Changes, but it's got to be changes that make sense"; Also, "Good Night Everybody!"
Your Review is must Better then the Nostalgia Critic review of Tim's Alice in Wonderland. Too bad that Alice through the looking glass was a box office failure
I almost never leave a comment, which is a sin for how much you entertain me. On days I'm feeling down, your shows have helped pick me back up. You have helped brighten my time. Yes time can get away from us sometimes, but your audience will alway be here. All I can say is thank you.
I don't find this film the best or the worst, but I personally would take it over Maleficent and the original 1951 Alice film any day! (At least in this version Alice isn't treated like dirt the whole dang time!)
I love Irish folk music, and I think the tune used in this review fits far better along with the Fuderwacken. (I'm assuming that's how you spell it.) I can't help but wonder though, was that rendition of the music by chance the version performed by the group Gaelic Storm? :D
That ending was fantastic! YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME! XD Anyway, as always, I enjoyed it. Always keep in mind that you're an awesome reviewer and I enjoy every second of your reviews. Keep up the good work, man!
Hey bob your ending to this review made me smile I'm glad you did that little message :) it makes small youtubers have hope to keep going no matter what
I like how each episode for the month had an overarching arc and plot. Thanks for the content you do, hope you don't stop with the reviews anytime soon, they're great :D
+Bobsheaux you are the coolest reviewer ever! Mosy reviewers would tell their audience NOT to see these films (like the Nostalgia Critic), and tell them to spend their time with it. But you, you sir are different! You tell us to watch theses films in spite all of their flaws, for our flaws make us perfect, but perfect isn't reality, so thank you for that. I'll be sure to subscribe to you so i can enjoy more of your reviews!! Also the first video of yours that i ever saw, is where you reviewed Tim Burton's Hansel and Gretel, to learn it aired on Disney Channel in 1983 is amazing! I grew up watching shows and original movies on the Disney Channel, and my favorite decade is the 1980s! I love the 1980s so much that i wish i could've lived in the 80s as a teenager!!
4:34 And that's the biggest problem of the movie. Burton tried to turn this into something it was never supposed to be. It was dry, mistaking dark colours for actually being dark (seriously the story is dark enough you don't also have to suck out the lightness out of nearly all colours used in the movie!), and tried to force another stupid movie prophecy down our throats, because that worked so well for the Star Wars prequels, right? And then there is the issue of Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp playing Bellatrix Lestrange and Captain Jack Sparrow once more. Which annoys me way more than anything else in this movie. I want to see these two amazing actors play a role in a major Hollywood blockbuster that doesn't remind me of these other two roles. Carter at least still gets to play more down to earth roles when she appears in British productions, but Depp? Holy shit, all he does now is a variation of Jack Sparrow, and this movie is no expection. Also, it's a shitty adaptation. Not only because this is a sequel to the original story while not telling us that (go fuck yourself Disney), like Bob himself said: All this movie has in common with the source material are the names of the characters. That's not saying that this is necessarily a bad movie (and I would never claim it to be a good movie), but it definitely sucks as an adaptation.
Bob, if you are going threw some stuff don't worry. We are all here and we all love your show. We can wait a bit as long as you never lose interest and never lose what makes you well you. So be sure to take brakes and take it easy sometimes but not enough to lose your spark. I have felt both of these with my autism making me obsessed with doing some things and my depression making me want to do nothing. But if anyone can do this, even if I may not know you well, I feel you can do it. I know this may get lost but know where all here and we're all here by your side.
Even though I'm not super in love with the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland films, I really appreciate how you're willing to go outside the realm of popular opinion and defend things that you like that others might not.
i gotta tell you bob, you are hands down the BEST reviewer on youtube. take whatever time you need, because we want quality over quantity. take your time, and we will wait, because you're absolutely worth us, all of us, making time for you as well!
I enjoyed both movies for what they are. I've come to realize that you can't demand that all adaptations of a story be exactly the same as "the good one". After all, nobody holds A Christmas Carol on such a high pedestal that they pick only ONE version and blacklist all the other hundred-plus adaptations. If somebody wants to tell a an old story in a new way, I set let them.
Not true! I myself am quite fond of your work, and applaud your efforts in regards to what you review. Hell, you've actually made films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Alice in Wonderland films by him, and some of the more disliked films in this world a new perspective. That's actually a lost art with most reviewers, say for a few notable exceptions, and you definitely need more love than you get! Seriously, I'm amazed you never tried working for Channel Awesome!
For the record, I don't like Alice in Wonderland as a story period. It's a series of crazy people being assholes without reason and I don't see why ANYONE would want to go to Wonderland at all because of it. Yes the 1951 Disney animated version is objectively superior to this. (Better visuals, fully animated, better voices, and more heart in general) But I still enjoy the Tim Burton one more simply because it's a departure from the book.
I hated the original story and the 1951 movie. Tim Burton's version was soooooo much better because it actually had a plot, wasn't overly meanspirited, and wasn't annoying to watch.
Regarding the music for the dance: that would make sense... *but that would make sense* (I do so love a happy ending ^^ we do love you, Bob! Keep being awesome - it's okay if you can't keep up a consistent schedule, it just leaves us wanting your videos more)
You know, your right. I just found you and already became a fan. And I don't normally leave being a fan of someone unless they do something really stupid (stupid in Real life, not character) So whenever you need to take a break, always remember that we will be here, waiting for your next video.
First of all: I KNEW this would be the finale! CALLOO! CALLAY! :D Second of all: on the note of Frabjous Days - thank you for putting that music to the Futterwacken Dance. I now hate that scene significantly less. Third of all: I have issues with these movies, but on the whole, I still like both of them. I think a big part of that does have to do with what you said about the title - if the first film had been called "Return to Wonderland," or something along those lines, I think people would get angry at it a lot less. There are still some problems with them both, in my opinion, that a simple title change couldn't fix (the "depth" you spoke of feels a little scattershot, for example), and it does suffer from some cliched storytelling elements (perhaps especially in the second movie)...but on the whole, I don't despise them the way so many others do, and I actually like most of the takes on the characters from the story. I also have to admit that I really love the character of Time, as played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Ultimately, my own relationship with these reimaginings is a sort of love-and-hate affair - there are elements in these pictures that I simply adore, but there are a few things in them that I simply cannot forgive. All the same, I'm glad you reviewed them, glad you enjoyed them and am personally glad I tuned in to Wonderland month! (Now, here's hoping you review the musical "Wonderland" some time around...)
Due to never reading the book as a child, i never understood why the call a creature thats obviously a "dragon" a "Jabberwocky". It was just odd for me until later in life where i actually read a PDF of the story and it kind of made better sense...? Whatever, i still call the Christopher Lee sounding creature a dragon.
God, finally, someone who isn't just like "It's got Tim Burton attached to it after 1995 and isn't a perfect recreation of the cartoon, that means it sucks!" XD
I always enjoy your reviews with the story bits they are my favorites! Its very refreshing to see someone actually enjoy the Burton Wonderland movies. I definitely admit they're far from perfect but I've enjoyed each of them and you really pointed out their strong points thank you for sticking with the unpopular opinion!
Through the Looking Glass is a good movie, I just don't get why it's Through the Looking Glass and not an original film instead. I guess more marketable that way.
It's really reassuring to hear you praise this movie while also talking honestly about its faults. I really liked the first movie when it just came out, but I was still pretty young at the time and never saw it since so when I heard other reviewers talk about it I just thought maybe it was just something I liked when I was younger but wouldn't enjoy as much now. But your reviews made me really want to go back and rewatch the first one then see the sequel. ^^
I love how this guy, instead of just reviewing and commenting about the movie, goes the extra mile to make his content more interesting and actually adds some acting to his videos to make it more then a regular review. Thanks for the amazing videos
But, seriously the red and white queen had a long ass war over tarts!
Jessica hymow: Yeah, I know. Their feud was over a bunch of tarts?! Seriously? Why not something else.
It really says something when the white queen is worse than her sister.
it does feel like something Carrol would approve xD
Don't forget that this is WONDERLAND... or rather UNDERLAND... the point is, ridiculousness comes with the territory.
and I believe that the amazing world of Elmore happens to be an American future evolution of Wonderland which makes Gumball Watterson descended from the Cheshire cat
Burton wanted, but Disney was like "nope!"
I enjoyed this film, but a film adaptation of American McGee's Alice would be cool! Maybe a different studio needs to be approached with that?
This movie probably would've been better as one of Henry Selick's stop motion films. Tim Burton could've served as producer like he did on Nightmare Before Christmas.
Honestly, it's refreshing to see someone actually give these movies some appreciation. The first movie is one of my favorite LA remakes and I never understood why so many people hated it. Even if this is 3 years late, thank you for your perspective.
It’s not even a remake, it’s an “Alice goes back to wonderland years after the original visit”
I'm feeling the same way though I saw very little of the animated Disney Alice in Wonderland here tbh here
Finally, a reactor that liked these movies. Most of them think the first one was shit and the second one was ok. I on the other hand enjoyed both of them (the sequel a little bit more) so its nice to see a reactor that also enjoyed them
I'm actually the opposite-I thought the first was ok and the second was awful
I saw the first one. It was meh. I haven't seen the second one, but I hate it purely for giving us Just Like Fire. That song blows chunks.
f off to haters of the films...
Yeah
You Welsh as well, mate?
English, but I know the difference
Ah right. I just saw a dragon that is red in your profile pic and thought, "Possibly a Cymro." Lol
Sorry about that, mate. I do have some friends from England so like I'm not hating or anything lol
Drawn To Ice Hockey Never thought of it like that
This was a great un-birthday gift.
Thanks! Same to you!
What a coincidence! It's my un-birthday too!
Have a very merry un-birthday, everyone!!
@@Moonbeam143 um... who are you replying to?
Personally in my opinion, American Mcgee's Alice is the best Alice. It's closer to the source material, it takes a darker turn without it trying to be edgy, the writing is really good, and she's actually british.
_This is my favorite adaptation, along with Svanmaker's_
She also a brunette like the Alice Liddell that apparently inspired the character
You said "You have no power over me!"! You have to review Labyrinth now, it's the rules!
He really should.
Ah, Labrynth the "Must be a Bobsheaux" gag might need a counter for that one.
No, thank YOU for watching and leaving such kind words. ^_^
I see your point and respect it however I love NC he’s changed my life for the better, I never thought deep about films animation or the art of storytelling, or the importance of children’s story writing ✍️ until I started watching he’s reviews. He’s loud but to be bombastic and unapologetic with who he is and that I respect.
"Time has no him for this"
I knew I was subscribed to you for a reason.
I actually much more prefer the hyper and violent dormouse. :P Just overall more fun!
Bob, you got your muchness back by getting supported by viewers who still want to watch your sheaux.
This review just made me miss Alan Rickman and Sir Christopher Lee. R.I.P. :( Other than that, these movies aren't my taste, but Bobsheaux's reviews are always the best. :)
Poor Lee. He made an awesome Jabberwocky, and they cut out his tongue right at the start of the battle so he cannot talk anymore...
Boy, Bob sure knows how to touch his audience's hearts as much as the audience touches his.
What a lovely way to end the review.
I personally think, that the main beef with those movies is that they are based on a story, which is about a world, which is mad and has no rules, and add rules and epic stuff. I don't like them for this, but honestly, if we take them on their own merit, disregarding the book, they are pretty cool.
Best reviewer on youTube, so says Jesus
I'm an athiest, and even I can't argue with that!
Glad to hear fam
Jesus H. Christ :0 Holy bubblez
Bubbles are awesome
Jesus H. Christ Amen to that. Also, you're not Jesus. If you want to be Jesus, change your name to Optimus Prime.
I just realized that this movie is like Return to Oz. It's a dark sequel that involves the fantasy world being in ruins since the first story due to some sort of evil.
At least Return to Oz knew when to establish a dark tone.
I can still hear the screams of “Dorothy GAAAAAAAALE!”
Sorry, Bobsheaux, but I still think these movies are garbage. But I respect your opinion.
This movie. WOW! Just WOW!
That sounds really awful.
Yeah same here
@@smb-c3po This was before the whole live-action-Disney-remake gig got out of hand. And I agree, it's more of a sequel than a remake.
Paddington Brown {HUGS}
Oh my god; an honest-to-god _positive review_ of the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland movies?!
I never thought I'd find it.
Maybe willy wonka went crazy and became the hatter. Or the hatter went through time and became wonka. Nevermind. Thats stupid
Wasn't Willy Wonka already crazy? I mean, the dude does have a weird obsession with candy...
Fennec Gaming Now I really want to see that... Make it happen, Hollywood! Wait, no; they'll just mess it up... dang it!
As a digital artist, I feel really bad because of the fact that I have not much audience to speak of. But I like the phrase: "No matter how small your audience is, keep up the good work"
So let me just say: i will forever be your loyal viewer, and sir, you made a bang up job time and time again
And I hope to one day watch a movie directed by a very certain Robert Thomas
Also, that goatee is se-xay
As soon as he was free, he runs off to get comics and meet his fans. Now that's dedication.
16:20 Well, it worked for Lion King, why not Wonderland? Lol
It reminded me why I watch your reviews:
It is because I enjoy when you are looking at a movie from a different perspective that I did not think of (even if I may not always agree about it). Also because you inspire me to not be ashamed of who I am, and to not be afraid to share what you think. Two reviews that reminded me that are this one and the Cool Cat ones. (Take that Daddy Derek!!)
Don't stop being inspired or inspiring us, no matter what anybody says. We love you Bobsheaux!
BEST MONTH OF BOBSHEAUX THUS FAR... keep living the time while it lasts... and thank you for this review!
NC might be the top critic but you know when to be honest about our opinions.
I thought the white queen was lady Gaga
Albatross flight it's pennywise
Instantly love everything about your show just from your using the most empowering line in movie history . . . You have no power over me!
I loved the first one and I was blown away by the message of the second. Having just lost a family member, it was incredibly touching to see that message about time giving before it takes. And not only are you horribly underrated, you're one of the most original and creative reviewers who still humbly acknowledges his predecessors. I will always support this channel and know that if you ever decide to visit the home of MST3K here in Minnesota, you'll have a fanbase!
As much as I enjoy Through The Looking Glass, the way that they made the White Queen the reason that the Red Queen became evil always ticked me off.
"Which has it's own kama sutra.....You know for kids!"
Don't you mean "Must be a Bobsheaux"?
The part in the sequel that irritates me the most is that they're risking the fabric of the universe just because the hatter is sad!
This was better than Nostalgia Critic's review of Alice Through The Looking Glass.
"I am saving time" I get it. I love your videos Bob! keep em up!
Bloody love Your reviews! Even if i despise some of the movies, you make it better man.
Bob i bloody love your show, you always make your reviews fun to watch.
Eh...
Best review yet. You continue to be one of the best reviewers on TH-cam
XD
Anyway, as always, I enjoyed it.
I like the armored look that the queen's guards have it makes them cool.
Awesome review as usual! And thanks for staying with us as well! :)
(yaaay, my comment made it into the video!)
Bob you rock it! Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your next vid.
I can see where you are coming from.
Good work as always, Bobsheaux.
Bobsheaux should be on TV.
10:43 Way to make your main character stand out, Tim. Make her an item to a sword -_-
bob is like if you combined my orchestra conductor with the nostalgia critic
"Never thought you'd see the Mad Hatter with a broadsword, didja?"
Why not? Tandem the Spoony did.
Regarding the music for the dance: that would make sense... *but that would make sense*
(I do so love a happy ending ^^ we do love you, Bob! Keep being awesome - it's okay if you can't keep up a consistent schedule, it just leaves us wanting your videos more)
notoriouswhitemoth hearhear!
We love ya Bob, you are more than worthy of it. Glad to use my time watching you.
You know, your right. I just found you and already became a fan. And I don't normally leave being a fan of someone unless they do something really stupid (stupid in Real life, not character) So whenever you need to take a break, always remember that we will be here, waiting for your next video.
First of all: I KNEW this would be the finale! CALLOO! CALLAY! :D
Second of all: on the note of Frabjous Days - thank you for putting that music to the Futterwacken Dance.
That was amazing and such a positive review to a love of crazy adventures.
I never thought about this too much. Thanks for showing me things I didn't notice before.
only just discovered this channel i wish i did earlier!
If I wrote the film, I would have killed off the Queen of Hearts at the end. It just feels more natural, and like it suits the atmosphere better.
This has got to be one of my favorite reviews! I love that ending!
I love Tim Burton almost as much as I love BOBSHEAUX!
Still can’t believe people say this movie is trash. It’s one of my favorites
LOL when you shouted, "You have no power over me!" I was expecting David Bowie to turn into an owl and fly through your living room.
Happy Alice in Wonderland Day, Bobsheaux!
I love these movies. They may be inaccurate to the books but I still like the setting and characters (especially in the sequel).
Through the Looking Glass is a good movie, I just don't get why it's Through the Looking Glass and not an original film instead. I guess more marketable that way.
I love you Bobsheaux
RIP Alan Rickman and Barbara Windsor who voiced the caterpillar and the dormouse respectively
16:24 Who knew? The Lion King did.
Bobsheaux:*yells angrily* YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!!!
Me:-insert Cool Cat reference-
I only watch a select few on TH-cam... And you Sir... Are definitely in the TOP 5!!!!!!
