Its honestly impressive how most if not all the characters, no matter how seemingly insignificant, always have their own continuing plot that interweaves with the main story. In the case of Falk, who we all believed wouldve disappeared from the story after this, continues to pop up - in significant moments like his attempt on Kubersly, and small asides about his confinement in and escape from the mental asylum. He may be offscreen and be irrelevant to whats on the screen in a particular instance, but somehow in the back of your head you are still aware of him and as a result it doesnt feel strange when he ultimately shows up to kill Yang

I don't like these new ship designs. The entire point of the old ones was that they are slim and so hard to hit. Why do these have this big, bulky prows? And what is the deal with the empires ships having these underslung bridges? shouldn't they be INSIDE the ship to protect them? Is it just me?

None of these designs are even a little realistic. So it doesn't really matter. I suspect they're made just to show (in fact, clearly outline) the difference in philosophy between the Alliance and the Empire. So there's that.
The newly ship ideology should be maximum firepower at bow, old ship design only 8 main guns at bow but new series, more than 2 dozens(?) All FPA ships are heavily armed in the bow and only engine at stern, that's why FPA ships are far worse ugly than old series, fat bow with slim stern. (FPS new ships are more likely with Empire old destroyers, with fat bow and slim stern) The ship bridges are almost same between new and old series, FPA ships have newly design to raise or hide the bridge, but Empire ships.......as same as before. Also, new series ships.....sorry, I can't identify their class/types. In old series, you can identify battleships, cruisers or carriers easily. Also, FPA ships are never entered planet atmosphere, but Empire ships are always.(go found video clips for "Empire ships take off from Odin") FPA ships don't need to design for fly through atmosphere, FPA ships can be "ugly" for better tactical advantage and forget about "flying in atmosphere" (In the "4th battle of Tiamat"....2nd fleet had engage Empire at high attitude atmosphere in old series, I don't know how will it goes in new series) In our real world, most of fleet commanders/admirals are always staying in CIC(combat intelligence center), whatever that ship is CG/DDG or CVN.
This is one of the reasons why I stopped watching the show, I simply couldn't take it seriously anymore, I mean come on there no way someone like Falk could attain his current position, given his obvious mental instability here, especially given how easily it acts up with him (with someone arguing and disagreeing with him). In any semi-competent military system, all High ranking military officials all go through physical and mental medical examinations to test their fitness for duty especially ones where the officers would be commanding large armies/fleets. Falk was clearly mentally unfit and should never have attained the important position he held here, there no way his instability could have gone unnoticed for that long it too obvious. Worse still the doctor's solution for dealing with it was to have everyone not argue with him and do what he said, which is completely ludicrous, as according to Miltary doctrine, Falk should have been relieved of command due to being mentally unfit for command, a power the miltary doctor would have.
I know he gets dealt with and is removed from command after the failure of the invasion and placed in a mental hospital, but even with the corruption in the alliance, there is no way he should have even come close to be raised to his position with such obivious mental instability civil goverments don't that much control over the miltary. I mean his mental instability should have been been noticed as he rose in rank, since like I said in any semi-competent military system, all High ranking military officials all go through physical and mental medical examinations to test their fitness for duty especially ones where the officers would be commanding large armies/fleets.
But even with that as I said this is only one of the reasons, I mean most of the time the two main character only win their battles, because their opponent are complete morons, which takes away their victory since there is no glory in betting an idot. In fact it doesn't make them look any smarter or brillent, just more competant than their idots opponents, since it doesn't take a genius to beat a moron. Then there is also their way of fighting, it's completely stupid and wasteful, with ridiculous number of ships and their way of fighting is more like napoleonic, than actual space combat.
I agree with the “way they do space battles is dumb” thing. But I disagree with the Falk thing. There are plenty of ppl in power who “don’t deserve it”. They got there through politics/ family/ connections etc
