FIXING a SUPER COMMON Ferrari F430 & 360 Problem - DIY Engine Mount Replacement

- The engine mounts in the Ferrari F430 and 360 are known to degrade and collapse after about 10 years. Unfortunately the rubber rots, and then compresses and the mounts become worthless. The engine will move around a lot and cause poor shifting and make the car feel looser.
Luckily, replacing the mounts is fairly easy and can be done at home in only a few hours of work. You will need to have access to a lift or jack so you can remove the bottom tray. It's also a good idea to have an air impact or very strong electric impact gun available. The center bolts are 24mm sockets, and the smaller bolts are 17mm. The center are torqued down to 98nm or 72ft-lbs and the smaller bolts are 50nm or 37ft-lbs.

So true what you said about improved feel after replacing these. Took my 430 to Ferrari for an oil change. They said oh by the way you need engine mounts. I had no idea what a change it would make. SOOO glad I had it done.

In the future, place a wide block of wood between the floor jack and the oil pan to spread the force out more evenly and prevent fractures. Keep up the good work!

And, you know, following this was an epic night in The Domain. We really should go back to the days of bringing the camera along for that since it would be cool to show people how crazy it gets when 4 red cars group up in public and what that aspect of life is like as an owner... plus all the fun we had with the cops that night!

Did this job yesterday, I learned the hard way. Do not reuse the centre bolt and nut, buy a new pair for each at your local fasteners shop for $10. I tried using the same bolt and got stuck at 95% bolted up. made for a terrible next few hours cutting off the bolt head, then hacksaw the bolt 😢.
Yeah it's a single use bolt. It chews up the threads so it can't come undone... Sorry you had to learn that the hard way.
@normalguysupercar haha, not your fault. Yeah not ideal day, but good bonding. I do have a leak out of the right hand Axel. Tried to fix that too, unfortunately to replace the seal you have to pull the bearing. So that will be a job for the shop 🤔
The best part about this video is imagining how Ferrari’s lawyers are going to draft a cease and desist letter over turning their car into an EasyBake Oven.

When you cut bolts you should run the nut on first. Then you spin the nut off after cutting and it reforms the marred threads at the end from the sawsall (or I use an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel)

in case no one has mentioned it yet..... when shortening a bolt, put the nut on the part of the bolt that is NOT to be cut off, then when you back it off, the burred threads will be chased by the nut.

Be careful if you ever use the QuickJacks on a car with pinch welds. The rubber blocks deformed and shot both jacks out the sides.

Any idea what the average cost should be to replace the engine mount on a 458 Italia ? Did you end up having this issue on your 458 ?
The mounts on the 458 are a bit more expensive since they are hydraulic and not just vulcanized rubber. Check out either Ricambi or Scuderia Parts, they have them in stock.

It's decent. Newer Ferraris are certainly more reliable.
Prince the 360 model was Ferrari’s first reliable V8 which could be daily driven. They are solid.
