When you guys went back to the future to the present day abandoned crack house, it was genius!
I'm just surprised that Dan was able to pass the 1st level in Back to the Future Part III on the Sega Genesis.
It was not easy. And Im not looking forward to playing it on the next stream

The instant I saw what games were going up against each other: I was like "AAAAAHHHHHH, THAT'S NOT EVEN FAIR!"
To be perfectly frank, the SNES version was never released, so we got screwed both ways. Japan got the best BttF games, and we got all the shitty ones, especially the unholy duo from LJN on the NES.
Yeah, as soon as I saw the preview, I was like "it's not going to be even close."
well, as a purist, this video shouldn't have been made. i don't remember sitting with my friends arguing about which patched Japanese games were better on genesis or snes. as soon as he said patch i was like "nope, that wouldnt even have existed in 1992"

@@maximumrisk2004 99, i was playing (living) pokemon, and the Japanese version was part of the discussion, but the premise and title of the show harken back to a specific time period, 91 to 96, i just feel like this is stretching the premise
This is one of the few times that I didn't even need to watch the episode to know the entire outcome.

The SNES one was great for the time, but these days? People notice the sudden difficulty spikes and limited animation. It also gets a lot of grief for the less well known roster, which has to be the dumbest thing held against it.

What about comparing Nintendo's actor? Tbh, I don't know if I'm gonna miss Greg, because the way Pat adds another question to the "That's it are we doing this?" with the same question is great. Greg did not do that. Also, when Dan says a game was good for the Sega Genesis, Greg just said "No, it was better on the Super Nintendo!" Does not make sense. Does he think that game was bad or not? Pat fixes that entirely by saying "Right, but it was better on the Super Nintendo." Also, one little nitpick, I just think Pat's voice when debating that his game is better or worse is just better.

In an episode filled with great quotes, Pat's panicked performance of "Ooh la la?!" might be the highlight.

I remember HATING back to the future 3 on genesis. I rented it once and felt so angry after playing it.
I bet the next episode is going to be The Great Waldo Search, and since that game doesn't have such a good reputation, I bet it's gonna be a "Worst Version" episode like the Bubsy, Home Alone, Wayne's World, Bart's Nightmare, and Batman Forever episodes.
Neither Home Alone video was trying to decide which version was worst, though they conceded in the Home Alone 2 episode that the Sega version was the only reason they even made the episodes to begin with.
Another great episode. I would like to see "Flashback", if Greg feels like another cameo he could be playing on MS-DOS
This reminds me of something I did as a kid. I had this sketch pad and I used every page but didn't have any more so I decided to go back to the old drawings and add something new to each one. I even did a "Where's Waldo" and hid small things in them for my brothers and sisters to try and find. I wish I still had that thing.

And it's an official direct sequel to WWF Wrestlefest even though they don't have the license for wwe anymore. It's still got real wrestlers in it, like legion of doom. And Tommy Dreamer.

@Star Wolf 128 Doubtful that was the case, people would've just seen it as "cartoony" back then. I can only guess that Vic Tokai didn't have the rights to bring it over to the West, or (more likely) that by the time 1993 rolled around the BTTF craze was dying down and no one saw much use in localizing and releasing the game outside Japan.

Licensing was an issue & even if it could, by the time the SNES BttF II game would have been translated , it would have been 1993 or 1994. 4 or 5 years after the second movie was released. I could also see Nintendo's censorship policies in the USA at the time being a problem. I don't think they would liked having a character being covered in manure at the time.
@Star Wolf 128 I call tell right now, that's bull. Anime was getting huge in the US by the time this game came out.
From what is know, the company never believed that the style would work in the Western so they only acquired the rights for a Japan only release.

I absolutely LOVE Back to the Future, especially the first one. We're talking about a film franchise that's impossible to hate, has no bad movies whatsoever, and has earned its rightful title as a true good time cinema experience.

Just recently discovered this channel. Loving it. We mostly had NES and SNES and only played sega at friends house until we eventually got a Genesis. So a lot of these games I never knew had a Sega counterpart.
The nostalgia was strong in this one. Loved it!

God, I remember buying «BTTF3» for Mega Drive in my childhood. The seller showed it to me and asked: "Are you sure you want to buy it?" But I loved the movie trilogy and took it. Yes, the game is just bad, but it also cost less than the other games. Nobody wanted it! X'D

The entire SNES game is worth it for how they portray how Marty discovers that Biff switched the Almanac with the OOH- LA-LA magazine alone. Really left an impression on me.

It's a huge mystery why Super Back to the Future 2 wasn't released outside of Japan.

I remember watching that...wasn’t that a James n mike mondays episode?..that game was like only 4 mini games huh.
Once again my long work week has been rewarded with another excellent Console Wars episode. Especially love the look at some of the more obscure titles and of course the romp through the old episodes.
Yeah my favorite part of Back to the future 2 was when Marty was flipping around on a hover board, knocking people out by landing on their heads while giant boulders rained down from the sky. Damn that SNES game was like I was acting out the movie myself!

I think all of us knew the outcome, but this goes to show why we watch the show. While the review is fun, it’s the back and forth of pros and cons, it’s the humor of the main two, it’s about that personality and charm. Great stuff guys, can’t wait for more!
Like many others in the comments, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to pass those levels on the Genesis version. That game is hell and that horse level is terrible for a first level.

I know this episode a year old but I highly suggest everyone pause it at the 1:57 time stamp. I don't know if the guys made the story up next to the headline "Sega arrested for unspeakable acts" but I encourage everyone to give it a read.
Back to the Future III for the Sega Gene Drive was my very first "It's a video game, why am I not having fun?" - experience, together with Fantasia a short time later. I still have them 23 years later. What can I say, they are still my childhood.

To be fair the Frisbee scene in BTTF3 is the most memorable scene it's what I remember most about the film.

I actually remembered really liking Back to the Future 3 on Genesis as a kid, even I could never get past that first level. Super Back to the Future 2 was the game that I really wanted to see a North American release back then. I think people would've loved it had it actually happened.
