My fascination with Railroads started when I was a little boy in the 60's . My Dad would walk the P&LE rails in Coraopolis to pick up coal , And to pick black berries and other things . I always admired how the Train serviced all the Businesses such as Mckown & Beatty lumber , Fingeret's junk yard , Bundy's cookie sheet Mfging , Coraopolis light metals , And of course the Montour railroads coal cars . I appreciate your time and effort .

Just found this channel. I find it very interesting because I am working on restoring the zebra swallowtail back to Pittsburgh and historic context matters very much when it comes to this butterfly’s extirpation from our area. The zebra swallowtail has one host plant here, the pawpaw tree and based on my research it probably disappeared from Pittsburgh about a hundred years ago because of the massive industrialization. However about an hour drive south, west, a bit more than that to the east, and many hours to the north, it reappears.

Interesting! Plants and animals aren’t my forte but obviously are crucial to any ecosystem. Maybe we should collaborate sometime to tell their story and spread the word!

@@Noles.Explores I would love that! My video needs to be updated anyway as well as having an error or two. It is my intention to see the zebra swallowtail in Pittsburgh before I die so I welcome any help in getting the word out!
Thank you for making quality videos!
I know of some areas of interest in and around Pittsburgh in regard to pawpaws accessible by foot and water that I could show you.
By the way, our rivers are excellent places to explore. I see lots of history on our shores that I cannot see on foot. Another intention that I have is to get more people on our rivers by human powered boats.
