Seeing someone I went to high school with pop up in my recommended feed with quality geography content was not something I was expecting today. Good stuff Noles. Nice book as well
Wasnt expecting to see Blacklick s/o indiana county. Fun fact: nearby Torrance, PA used to be called Libengood Summit (then Blairsville Intersection before finally becoming Torrance) which was named after my family which there was a lot of in that area at the time
Great video! There's so many unusual town names in PA. Probably could do a whole clip of ones that were inspired by "the old country" - like New Germany, Nanty Glo, etc.
In Washington, PA, there’s a road called The Road. Right near it is a road called The Circle And of course, in downtown Pittsburgh, there’s a road called The Blvd.
@@Noles.Explores The Road has become a common reoccurring meme between me and my wife. Anyways, we both love your videos! Can’t wait for the sequel to this one!
@@Noles.Explores our rivals, Harborcreek Huskies, came up with squash those grapes. Oh also, NE nose pickers 🤣 the good ole days. I spent my last two years in Akron Oh and graduated there. They had a field day with me. First, my nickname was Pa cause I kept saying PA instead of Pennsylvania (duh), then my school mascot, and lastly like you mentioned in your video. North East but in northwestern part of the state. LOL Legend has it. The founder of the town, stood upon the hill looking over the county and Lake Erie. More then likely where I-90 is. He was like this is North East. Fits lol
Whats funny about intercourse pa is alot of Amish live close by. I believe thats Lancaster co. We lived there for a cpl yrs. I had the biggest juiciest peach id ever had in my entire life there. It was so big... Idht eat again for the rest of that day. I hope to return there over the next few yrs. We loved it there

Jim Thorpe, PA.
Plus, around all of those other excitable towns, there's a place called Virginville.
Hey bud. Just discovered your channel and love it. Big fan of local history, coal, railroads, maps, ect. Looking forward to more.
I really like this channel, I’m not from PA, and I’m learning so much. (:
Thank you! That means a lot. I’ve got many more ideas, so stay tuned :)

I was waiting for you to mention Eighty-Four, though you may have decided to exclude it because it's not a municipality but just a CDP
There’ll be many more installments of this, don’t worry!

I always liked the name 84. Really lets just name a town after the year it was founded??? ha ha!
In reality it was named 84 because it was at the 84-mile maker for the rail system
Negative. Former coal camp named after its mine number.
