Hey Mark! I'm pretty happy with it. Don't like bags with hoods and don't like to wear a hat to sleep. The "collar" does a good job reducing heat loss. Kind of wish I had gone with 850FP down to reduce the weight a few ounces. But it's OK. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have a 30 year old Sears Kenmore. Has 4 or 5 specialty stitches including zigzag. You will also want variable stitch length. Reverse is very useful for things like back-stitching to prevent ravelling. Mine is NOT a heavy duty machine. But I've found that if I use a needle designed for thick fabrics, it can handle even two layers of heavy webbing. Don't know where you are... But I suggest you check local sales web sites like Craigslist, OfferUp, and Facebook Marketplace. For example, FB in my area has about 20 machines under $150. Same for OfferUp and Craigslist. Probably some are duplicate ads. So many people have machines they don't use. Take some fabric and thread along when you go to see a machine. Try it out. Make sure it works properly and "feels" easy to use. Good luck!
Love it. It looks solid, comfortable. Admirable talent and patience you certainly have.

Tom I've been trying to find a thrift store sewing machine for a while but no luck yet. What kind are you using for this project?
