The DDJ XP1 works well with the Pioneer XDJ decks also. I put DDJ XP1 on a second DJ stand and it is rapidly becoming a necessary part of my performance. I picked up some tips from you for my set up - thanks for the video.
+IL KIM not sure the shift does much extra when it's plugged directly into the CDJ apart from delete the hot cues. I'll test a few bits out when I'm back in the studio.
Crossfader on sp-1, shift+sync works as a master button. Just wondering if there are more functions. One more to ask is.. Is there a way to activate slip mode? i dont see slip mode button on xp1 whereas its there on sp-1

I think one massive omission is the absence of the capture mode. Had this unit have this function to capture loops to the pads I think I'd have bought it. Still going need a mouse which defeats the object of this controller.
How bright are the pad LEDs ? Look very low a problem Ableton had with push v1 ? A firmware brightness feature be nice update if so, also can you use x2 units in pioneer rekordbox 4 decks ?
I am hoping that you still answer comments here. I am thinking about getting the Pioneer ddj RZ, but may end up with the ddj 1000. Can I use the ddj XP 1 to activate the record feature on Rekordbox. I am wanting to use the XP1 to operate the record feature that is available on the ddj RZ and use the XP1 on the ddj 1000 so that I can record as I play my set and then use it as part of my performance. Can you utilize the Key Shift function without connecting to rekordbox? I have a CDJ-2000NXS2 with the 750mk2 mixer set-up and want to be able to change the keys of a track standalone. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

+PyroStylersHD sure but you don’t have much control over the tempo adjusts or being able to nudge or pitch bend on it. You would have to map out these features if you didn’t pair it up with another controller/set up

+Daniel Carlsson you have to do that in the memory. You can use what you call active loops. With the xp1 you can turn active loops on and off before reaching that point in the mix.

I got 1 today...my problem is im using serato vinyl(rane) and backspinning(beat juggling) moves my marker from 12 to 9...after 1 to 3 spins back. Hopefully it's a vinyl issue I can fix with getting rekordbox

how do we mix the track with out jog wheel !! sync ?? and how do we set up cue points manauly ?? how do we set tempo for different tracks 100 bpm to 95 bpm and so on ??? will this need a mixer ?? and what mixer if we do ??
This is an add on controller for rekordbox software. It’s intended to be added to a set up ideally with jog wheels like cdjs or a set of turntables using a mode called DVS. This then means you can access all of rekordbox’s features even if your current equipment doesn’t. Cue points can be set in rekordbox without any equipment plugged in. It can be done solely on your laptop if needed. Look at getting this as part of a bigger set up.
+fouskalini yeah I'll get a blog post together with the pad editor in and maybe another video. You could definitely use it with just a DJM however you would have to sync the decks up constantly and maybe map some of the functions to nudge the bpm up and down.
I been working on a mapping have cue points, key note shift, loops, samples loop roll of course library scroll and load track done still working in the rest if u have one I don't mind sharing the xml file to give it a test run.

I've been using Traktor for many years now, but I'm starting to think it's sort of losing its edge, so I'm considering Rekordbox. I've got a DDJ SX and I'm thinking of combining that with XP1 . Any thoughts on that setup ? From what I understand , DDJSX is pre mapped to RekordBox and could work seamlessly with XP1 , however I have not been able to find a single video with that setup. Any feedback is greatly appreciated...
Yeah DDJ SX works with Rekordbox, just note that some of the pad modes will be labelled different to what they do seen as its originally a serato contoller. Then with the XP1 you're able to have access to everything Rekordbox currently has to offer. That goes for any Rekordbox set up with an XP1 added.
Yeah you can use the xp1 with any set up running rekordbox performance mode (which the DDJ 1000 does). Because it plugs directly into your laptop and not the equipment it’s just another controller.

I have an Akai amx, and i have the mapping for rekordbox. I just bought 2 rekordbox timecodes. If I buy this, will i be able to use the full equipment? Sorry if im not making myself clear and thanks on the availability to answer.
+Francisco Fernando hmm I can't say for certain but I have a feeling it will work. The akai amx is a DVS soundcard basically. This xp1 will unlock rekordbox's DVS mode allowing you to utilise the akai as a soundcard. Please note we haven't tested this combination however Rane sl2, sl3 and sl4 boxes all work with rekordbox DVS so I can imagine the akai amx will work similarly.
this would be perfect for the lower end DDJ-RB, since the RB has limited physical controls. How do you have it already? online sites just list it as available late Sept. or similar. :(
you should do a course using the ddj xp1, like djs routine, and finger druming explaining all the things you can do and how to improve our dj set, and of course i will be the first to buy yor course!!! =)

My 13 year old studies music and wants to be a DJ. He has his eyes on a DDj-400 and the Innovation Launchpad. I just want to know, would it be better in the future to buy the DDJ-XP1 for the DDJ-400 as it's Pioneer or both this and the Launchpad for the DDJ-400? Could you please explain the difference between the Innovation Launchpad mk2 or Pro and this DDJ-XP1. It gets a bit confusing. Thanks.
So the notation launchpad is designed more to work with software like ableton. It’s a midi controller that maps well to production software. You should also be able to midi map it yourself to rekordbox and control things like samples in the rekordbox software. However the DDJ xp1 is designed specifically for rekordbox and already all mapped out. It takes full advantage of the DJ software and has more pads than the DDJ 400 so you can theoretically do more with it. The only reason I would say to get the launchpad is if your son is confident at finger drumming for example and wants to plan more live sets in ableton but apply some mixing over the top. Please note that for ableton and rekordbox to work side by side you will need a sound card for them both to route to and they don’t automatically sync with each other. Hope that give you some extra insight.

The DDJ xp1 is a plug and play controller for Rekordbox. You can simply plug both the DDJ xp1 and DDJ RX onto your laptop. Both will run at the same time. Shouldn’t be much set up involved.

The pad effects have always been lockable. .hold em down and change mode to lock. Return and hit the effect to unlock.

No you must buy audio interface or a mixer with audio interface like djm 450. Djm 450, xp1 and 2 turntables are a great setup.

The DDJ xp1 is a plug and play controller for Rekordbox. You can simply plug both the DDJ xp1 and DDJ RX onto your laptop. Both will run at the same time. Shouldn’t be much set up involved.

You can use the XP1 for sure with the 200 but I can't remember if Rekordbox 5 supports the DDJ-200 so you might need version 6!
