Great review! I have the 12 and 15 and love them both. I also want to say that your editing for your videos is excellent. You guys really know how to pare an episode down to exactly what should be in the video. Great production!
Thanks for a “readily available” flight fight. Seems like the bourbon TH-cam community has become a “best of stuff you’ll never get deal”! Love all expressions of KC. Love your flight fight format.
To me - the Knob Creek 9 year is so much better than Early Times BiB or Buffalo Trace. I prefer nutty / spicy to the super sweet taste of both of those
Great flight! I haven't spent the money for the 15 and probably won't even though the bottle is beautiful and would look good in the collection. The 12 year was very good and I haven't heard anyone say that the 15 year is better. Ok, I may get the 15 year to be a completist and it is actually somewhat available. Cheers Chad and Sara!
It's crazy that Knob 9 is regularly mid to even upper $30s these days. I got some on sale at Costco for $29.99 and was thrilled because I had never seen it that low.
I really like the 12 and 15. You all criticized the 15 as an LE for the low proof, but I really think Knob Creek does well at 100 proof. I get a lot more complexity out of it at that proof point. And I am not someone that avoids barrel proof. Two of my favorite bourbons are Stagg Jr. and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. Some KC Single Barrels are a little hot at 120. Some are outstanding. I bought several bottles of the 12. It's a nice drink. The 9 isn't half bad, either. Thanks for the review!
This is a great & helpful review. Going shopping today (as I've never had KC) armed with knowledge! Also, really like the music at the end (what is it?). Great job, Sara & Chad.
I finally got my hands on a KC 12 yr. To me, it is the closest thing I have had since EC 12 yr went away. It is so good. I just wish it had EC 12 yr pirate bottle MSRP.
The 12 had complexity. And that takes time and effort to dig up. If you just want to drink something quickly without thinking the standard small batch is probably better value.
Thanks for this flight. Trying a Knob Creek single barrel rye store pick tonight (coming in at 115 proof). Very tasty, bringing some heat and spice. Going big for my first foray into rye.
Would love to see a video of your guys picking your Friday night top 3 preference for $60-$100 $35-$60 $0-$36 As I’m watching this I’m drinking wild turkey 101 and it’s exceptional for the price. Bulleit finishes on the pallet really well and may be a go to but I really like your experience. Great channel
Good video. It's a bit surreal to me that Knob Creek comes from Jim Beam which I truly consider swill but I've loved every single Knob Creek expression I've ever come across. The fact that it was so hard for you guys to choose speaks to the brand's high quality across the entire line. Compare this to say, Jack Daniels and Marker's Mark, where there is such a clear delineation between the higher and lower expressions that the lower ones aren't worth the time and money for serious whisky drinkers.
I've done this test but ran the Quarter Oak because I didn't have the 9 year at the time and agree with you. Quarter Oak landed in a clear last place for us behind non age-stated standard bottle. Thanks for the flight fight! Cheers!
I did a blind of my own from sealed bottles of Old stock KC 9yr, KC NAS, and new released KC 9yr. My order was: 1-Old 9yr 2-NAS 3- New 9yr I used to really like KC. I have found other taste profiles I like better now. I find it a bit too full flavored for me. I did really like the 12yr, but just like many other $60 bottles better. Great episode guys!
Thanks for doing this! I’m a huge Knob Creek fan and I enjoy all of them ! I recently acquired the 15 year and I agree that the 12 is better. Had to find out for myself though Thank you!
Really do enjoy the 12 year when I want a solid age sipper. When I want to kick it up a notch I tap into my single barrel picks at 120 proof. Great video.
Do you cover your glencairn glasses when you take your break? Just wondering. Enjoying your channel as always. Probably going to be glad that I came across the 12 & bought it without hesitation.
Things can change a little to a lot when you go back to it in the 2nd round after you let your palate calm back down. You can pick up different things that you might have missed the first time through. If you’re wondering why we go in the same order, it’s because we try things back-to-back after round 2, and that’s how we make our ranking.
We did a barrel proof Flight Fight series a couple of years ago. If you haven’t checked it out, here’s the finals: th-cam.com/video/OeLR0Bx1Qjc/w-d-xo.html
Wished you had a bottle of the old discontinued 9yr in there. Sent a sample of it to Jason and he could definitely tell the difference side by side with the new 9yr. Cheers
Definitely interested in the Challenge coin.... in the fire industry we have our own drinking game that goes with the coins. New coins will win over all the older coins drink up.
Curious how the LE 15 year holds up to a single barrel store pick that you can get for $40-$50 that’s between 14 and 15 year aged. I absolutely love the single barrel store picks I’ve had.
Idk what it is, but I try to stick between 80-90 proof. Anything over that and the alcohol just overwhelms any flavor for me. I’ve tried WT101 after many recommendations, Elijah Craig, and bottled in bonds and I run into the same issue. Woodford Reserve is my favorite bourbon right now
@@Cosmos_Mariner It already has lol. Elijah Craig is awesome & so is Makers 46 and I think they are both above 90 proof. So disregard that bad comment I made two weeks ago 🥴
I'll take the lot! I really wish I could find more Knob Creek picks in my area, I am very much a proof hound it seems but I haven't seen any age statements around.
Thank you so much for this. This is EXACTLY what I wanted to know, should I really spend twice as much on the 12yr? I think I’ll save my $ and stick with the 9yr!
so i love knob creek. its my go to. but i picked up the 12 year, and it made me sick twice. i have no idea why, but i literally puked middle of the night not even being drunk with the 12 year two times in the same bottle. wondering if i got one that was off somehow
Picked up KC9 along with other $30-ish bourbons. This is a NO for me even after letting it sit & open up. Just simple & boring with bity bitterness that lingers. I'm staying away from Jim Beam products 😂
My gifted me a 12 year a couple days ago. i was shocked at how good it is. Reminds me of a smore by the camp fire Edit: I wrote that before the second round of tasting haha
I really like the KC 9y. I’m a bang for the buck guy and if I can get “almost as good as” for 1/2 the price I’ll pick the 9 every time
The KC 9 is just hard to beat for the price, availability, proof and flavor.
Chad you get a thumbs up for, "Lay down flip it and reverse it."
I've had them all with a friend in a blind test, and I liked the 9 year the best. Different tastes.
Great blind fight. I like the 12 year the best from your 4, but some of the SiB Reserve offerings are worth the hunt too.
Great review! I have the 12 and 15 and love them both.
I also want to say that your editing for your videos is excellent. You guys really know how to pare an episode down to exactly what should be in the video. Great production!
Thanks so much!
The 9-year always has a place in my bourbon cabinet. Haven't found the 12, but I do have the single barrel select 120 proof.
as I watch, I'm sipping on a 9 year single barrel at 120 proof :)
That's what I am sippin' on right now.
Thanks for a “readily available” flight fight. Seems like the bourbon TH-cam community has become a “best of stuff you’ll never get deal”!
Love all expressions of KC. Love your flight fight format.
Knob Creek is my absolute favorite. No challengers have dethroned it yet for me.
Looking forward to the "cold shoulder" It's Bourbon Night shirt in the merch store!
I gotta say, this is exactly the video I’ve been hoping for
It's crazy that Knob 9 is regularly mid to even upper $30s these days. I got some on sale at Costco for $29.99 and was thrilled because I had never seen it that low.
Love these NOON time weekday videos ! Cheers Sara and Chad, have a great weekend!
9 year single barrel blasts em all to hell.
Regular 9 year, good, incredible value for a 9 year bourbon but leaves me wanting more.
I really like the 12 and 15. You all criticized the 15 as an LE for the low proof, but I really think Knob Creek does well at 100 proof. I get a lot more complexity out of it at that proof point. The 12 has been my daily favorite for a few months now…pretty much all summer
Revisiting this video while I taste through these myself with the addition of the 18. Sad that the 9 used to be $25. It’s $42 around me these days
Fantastic video, and the editing was top notch. I recently cracked a bottle of the 12 and it really is awesome. Great job!
This is a great & helpful review. Going shopping today (as I've never had KC) armed with knowledge! Also, really like the music at the end (what is it?). Great job, Sara & Chad.
Thanks! We get all our music from a site called Epidemic Sound.
I finally got my hands on a KC 12 yr. To me, it is the closest thing I have had since EC 12 yr went away. It is so good. I just wish it had EC 12 yr pirate bottle MSRP.
Nice review! The 12yr is so good and at a great value!
The 12 had complexity. And that takes time and effort to dig up. If you just want to drink something quickly without thinking the standard small batch is probably better value.

Way late? Maybe. But no one else mentioned that stellar big mouth reference, so I gotta shout out the ‘buhble bayith” reference, made me smile😂
Thanks for noticing!
Would love to see a video of your guys picking your Friday night top 3 preference for
$60-$100
$35-$60
$0-$36

I love Jim Beam white label. I like it better than most $20 to $40 bottles of bourbon from other distilleries. Knob Creek’s my favorite of all though.
I've done this test but ran the Quarter Oak because I didn't have the 9 year at the time and agree with you. Quarter Oak landed in a clear last place for us behind non age-stated standard bottle. Thanks for the flight fight! Cheers!

Just tried the 9yr, very enjoyable! I am going to have some more.
I get your references. Not sure if I'm proud of that.
Your notes on the 12 year in particular are spot on for me.
Really do enjoy the 12 year when I want a solid age sipper. When I want to kick it up a notch I tap into my single barrel picks at 120 proof. Great video.
Great video. I love the single barrel 120 Corona Cigar barrel pick. Love the info.
Do you cover your glencairn glasses when you take your break? Just wondering. Enjoying your channel as always. Probably going to be glad that I came across the 12 & bought it without hesitation.
Yep, with challenge coins!
I love the regular knob creek and SiB. I really need to try the 12 year. Is it worth the $60? Thanks for the video.
Yes
I have regular knob, SIB, and 12. It’s worth $60. The 12 is more complex than the 9 year Sib.
Doesn't matter what it is. I love Knob Creek.
Going down the It's Bourbon Night rabbit hole today, are we? :)
@@ItsBourbonNight I spent HOURS in that hole. Realized I was commenting too much.
@@Erik_T_Thompson Please, comment all you like!
Jeez Chad...”of the age stated” 🙄. Congrats yer officially married😋
Knob Creek 12 is my go to favorite
Great flight, thanks.
Other than the higher proof, how does the nose and flavor of the 9 yr/120 compare?
I can't buy any knob creek other than the single barrels!!! They are so good for the price!!!!
I snagged the KC12 a few weeks ago, haven't opened it yet, but was happy to see it top this flight! Cheers!
Great blind flight fight! I’ve been thinking about buying the 12 & 15 year. Drinking 1792 BIB as I watch. Cheers! 🥃👍🇺🇸
“It is sort of a quick finish”
👀 That’s what she said!
So is there a difference?other than prices
When y’all did the 2nd round you did it in the same order as the round 1. What’s the point of the 2nd round then lol

How about covering the best HIGH-proof bourbons? I am a huge fan of Rossville Barrel proof 112.5 Rye; but I need some variety in my Hi-Octane drinking
We did a barrel proof Flight Fight series a couple of years ago. If you haven’t checked it out, here’s the finals: th-cam.com/video/OeLR0Bx1Qjc/w-d-xo.html
Great job! I love it that I just bought the 12 yr old! I was worried about the $69 Price tag! Will open Christmas! Cheer's
“roll that beautiful Beam footage!”
9 Year, 120 proof, Single Barrel Select allllll day for Knob.... then if you can find em, those 14 year store picks floating around are insane!
I love all the movie references!!!
12 is the sweet spot but single barrel is the best
Wished you had a bottle of the old discontinued 9yr in there. Sent a sample of it to Jason and he could definitely tell the difference side by side with the new 9yr. Cheers
Did he compare it blind? Even with the old 9 year there still was variations from batches.
Nice big mouth reference lol

Gotta love the LOTR reference.
Love the bubble bath reference 😂

I hope other people got the PO TA TOES reference as well 😂

Wasnt the biggest fan of the 9 year. Still gotta find the 15 year. Hopefully Ill get one soon. By the way "Bubba bath" had me dying. Cheers
Roll that beautiful "Beam" footage? That's a quality joke!
Knob creek is one of my favorites.
You guys didn’t like any of them 😂
Love the shirt Chad!
Knob 9 year is my goto good value bourbon, 12 is better. Love to try the 15 some day.
Sarah is right. Potatoes are savory--with steak!
Chad is hilarious and I feel like we would get along. If you’re ever in Indiana give me a shout! Cheers
You got it!
Tried Knob Creek 9 for the first time last night. Glad I only sipped a shot instead of wasting the money on a bottle!! 🤢
Fun vid guys, would be nice if the music was just a biiiiiit lower
You have to be the luckiest guy in the world.A beautiful woman to sip with..Very cool .Awesome
Hey, guys,
I wonder how many of your viewers know where the Knob Creek name came from? Cliff
I love my 15 year.....
Love, love the 12 year ($59.99) but, in Ohio, it is allocated. Hate, hate, the wax seal!
12 all day
I like the 12 year! Looking forward to getting the 15 but I know the odds are against me 😞 either way great review great video!!!
I can guess which knob creek it is by color, older is darker.
IMO the non aged and 9 year small batch are the same quality.
The 12 and the 15 are “going through changes”
I have all of them Knob 12 is great knob 15 is okay...
HUDSON BABY BOURBON NEXT!!
I wish it was cool enough to be “wrapped in a blanket...”
Nice Samwise, Chad 😁
A thank you, a thank you.
Just buy the 9 year single barrel 120 proof!
Seriously tho. My Fave
