This is just amazingly done new friend! All the aspects just flowed together for an overall, astonishing piece of art at the end! Thank you so much for your time in putting this together so stunningly well! Can't wait to join you on your next adventure 👍
I like the rake. What type and size boat and motor is that? What if the line is longer than the boat? Do you just pull it in after the rake grabs it? Trying to get into the business while I'm in college.
What a rythm you've developed, thanks for sharing and best of luck to you, always safe home with a full harvest. What a shame the White House & Congress can't match your style & technique!
Thank you for sharing KernnyC haven't been down to Louisiana in years damn. Good to see BP didnt screw everything up! Keep the videos coming! Take care of yourself and your family.
where can I find a rake like you have. I use to crab 35 years ago with my grandfather and want to start again but pulling them the old way would be a killer.
Kenny; Do you think you might be interested in building a rake, or selling one of your older used ones to another Louisiana Crabber?Have cash, will travel!
Awesome video...... would love to come and crab down there one year for a trip.... I crab in maryland mainly the wye river, run trotline and traps depending on time of year... just a recreational crabber, caught about 23-25 bushels this year. Son's first full year crabbing, Love your set up....
Also a bait door isn't really needed unless you want one because you put bait in to put out the pots, but if not you can leave off the door because gravity makes the pot fall and the bait stays in
i hear you...luckly here in the swamps of La. we fish all year.... dec. jan. and the first 2 weeks of feb. or our best months... but we catch alot of females...
i ran ever other trap before that, but i had to film this for the Discovery Channel... so i was just running and talking..... i just ran every other cage,,,... truth is when im crabbing.. i dont talk much... i run 600 traps a day.. from 5:30am to 11:30am i dont really care if thats fast or not...im not raceing, and working...
I don't have a old one to sell... And I also buy crabs at my dock from other fishermen... So, I'm too busy to build on.. Sorry.. What part of La. are u?
@qsierra57 if the rope is too long you will cut it with your motor... each rope is cut to the same size...i measure to insure that my trap comes up in the same spot just in front of the motor...most crabbers in my area use 24ft carolina skiffs...some use 21' or 19'.... but i have a 27ft carolina skiff...good luck!!!
Kenny I was done there and crabbed in Poncetrain, White Lake, Lake Charles and out of Venice. Not much down Venice Way. You know a girl there named Rose Ann Backus? She would be about 50 now.
I have a 27ft Carolina skiff.. It's 90" wide.... With a all aluminum roof that fits 100 traps on it.... And the rake is all self made.. We build our rakes ourselves...
no, denis landry....but its more of an inside joke...denis was the one that ask me to film that...and told me to trash talk him...lol.... so, its all cool between us....i put more vids from that same day up...go ck em out
I was down there crabbing out of Venice. We crabbed in South Pass two bays about 45 minute run from Venice. WE had to hook every pot. THat rack saves a lot of time and trouble. Just like trotliners now have a cage instead of dipping the crabs and automatic winders and tong pullers, but the thing is the strong could go and now the weak are able to do the shit. Crab pottijng is fun with other people and boring as fuck by yourself
I know it was for the video, but it's good to see obeying the law with throwing back females and small ones. I hate over harvesting of anything. Even though there is a debate whether you are over harvesting anyway if you are doing 500 cages for one family, how many businesses are there? 100 or more? So could be 50,000 cages and probably more add to that the illegals that are kept and you can see how over harvesting is very easy.
Thanks so much for this. Keep the Cajun tradition alive. Vive les Acadiens!
The rhythm of your harvest is fine tuned to perfection and a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing

Sweet ... Need some old crab traps to catch fish and turtles in my swamp crawfish ponds!
Also a bait door isn't really needed unless you want one because you put bait in to put out the pots, but if not you can leave off the door because gravity makes the pot fall and the bait stays in
