    I get such a delightful serotonin-kick every time Christy-Lyn goes "well done!"

      Thanks Maris! My goal is to make things seem simple and straightforward, but to also explain them clearly so they make sense. So I’m glad to get your comment, thank-you! 💕

    I haven't tried crossing over yet, but I wouldn't even have known how to interpret the notation of the exercises without your explanation. Now I know what to do - at least in theory! ;)

    I’ve been wondering about this for a while -these exercises are good but your instructions are GREAT!!! I love these crossing videos!!

    When you said not to put your fingers too far down because it makes your wrist go the wrong way I was like 'oooooh is that why that keeps happening???' I'm the kind of person who interprets instructions very literally and tends to go as extreme as possible in carrying them out, so this was happening to me a lot. The next time I play my harp (which -- it's proving a little difficult to find time for that since I'm also in school studying classical voice at the moment, but I persist!), I'm going to keep an eye out for that. Thanks!

    Great instruction Christy-Lyn! Thanks so very much! It’s too easy to get careless with technique and your videos are wonderful!

    thank you thank you thank you ! a lot of my troubles was because I didn't know how to place my wrist but also especially I didn't know how the wide the web space between 1 and 2 should be. I was doing it way too closed. You're such a blessing for harp learners.

    I always was confused in how to cross over and under on scales. I tried but got lost. This information guides me along. Thanks so much! Good hint on checking wrist position. Will need to see if I inadvertently adjust mine!!

    At first it didn't click why I would need to cross, but then I just sat down and found myself doing it in a tricky piece of sheet music without thinking about it. Thanks so much!

    Thank you so much, Christy-Lyn - this is a fantastic tutorial! This gives me some specific & very helpful strengthening exercises I need to improve my LH cross-overs in the 1-5-8-9-10 pattern

    This came at just the right time for me. I just finished my first harp arrangement, and I put a 6-note run in it. Problem was, I had no idea how to play one!

    It is a super super super video. It does really help to keep a good technique, even if you play already a longer time. I've been rememered that I again have to watch out about that for ALL fingers!! Thank you very much 🧡

    Oh nice, that crossing over really is fun! I actually liked it so much that I tried to do it the whole scale up and down. Though the more I did it the more exhausting it was for the wrist. I think I need to watch my wrist position more

    My heartfelt thanks for another invaluable instructional video! I'm not new to cross-overs and cross-unders, but I can already tell that my technique is improving after going through with your tips. Due to having very short thumbs, I have developed a bad habit of not always folding them over properly when plucking, and also not always keeping the web space open. But I'm working hard on overcoming that now! Thank you again, Christy-Lyn 💚🎶🙏🏻

    So is thst how harpist do scales by alteranating between 2 and 1?

    Do you recommend getting that exercise book?

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it’s a great book! But it’s hard to learn from a book how to do them correctly, so an accompanying video like this one, or a teacher/friend showing you how is quite important for this type of book 😊 Maybe I’ll make some more videos to help, or an online course to take you through some of the book... 🤔

    Just wondering why, if you have a lap harp, you would do it an octave higher? Is it more comfortable there? My bass C is quite a stretch for me....I’m curious...

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe try it in both places 😃

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was probably saying an octave higher because the lap harp doesn’t have those bass strings.
