    Thank you for advocating for us, and for running us through all the forthcoming changes. I had no idea these were on their way and now I feel totally prepared - and excited! Thanks Tascam for supporting what’s already a great product. These were basically the missing features I was hoping for back in the fall when I first got my Model 12.

    I love my 12 as stand-alone only, but resorted to external normalizers and limiters to polish levels. This guy showed a workaround to create a limiter effect using compression, and Tascam just added a normalizer. It will finally be truly stand-alone for me!

    I would have liked to be able to assign the USB return to the SUB fader. Then you would have a fader and a mute button. But to be able to assign it to the main bus is a good step forward. Thank you for all the very good videos by the way! Keep it up! :)

    Thank you for explaining so well! Best update so far. Sometimes I use 9/10 because I can route it through the Compressor and EQ, and pan it. But usually just to main because then I have all the channels. Great! Now the thing that is really missing for me is Bitwig DAW control support. It kind of works in MCU - Live mode, but the pan is buggy and the markers don't work. I think this should be easily implemented for them (As a developer on my own), because almost everything works already. 2 things, common Tascam developers please do that too xD

    Hey! Thank you for all your videos about this excellent machine, keep up the good work! I hope in the next updates they could work on the software side so we'd be able to set plugins on individual channels BEFORE going into the DAW. I don't know if it's possible but that would be the ultimate game changer

      Not sure the processor will be able to handle it as it’s a complete different ball game. But being able to charge settings of the Comp and EQ via a PC app would be great, like Yamaha’s AG03/06 mixers.

    Great work Vatche & being the voice for us M12 users! Your content on the M12 is second to none!
    Regarding the new firmware, would be good if we could also pick 7/8 as well for the pc return audio, as 9/10 is where the bluetooth (if assigned) & trrs comes in.
    Has the ability to play audio from your DAW and from a different application always been there?
    Overall the new update doesn't really affect my current workflow as person who uses the M12 as an audio interface with my windows pc (+ voice meeter) for games, discord/zoom, spotify and the occasional daw recording, streaming/podcasting on obs.
    But nevertheless it is great to see Tascam is listening to suggestions and feedback (on top of having a representative in the fb group). Has Tascam indicated that they will continue to support the M12 ie with future (hopefully more frequent) firmware and driver updates?

    These are welcome additions. Thanks for the video!
    I was hoping that they would add a couple other things, though. Would like to be able to trim the start of a track and also be able to copy (not just swap) one track to another. The DP008ex does this and more. I know that ppl will say that "it's not a DP", but why not make the 12 less tethered to the DAW for basic functions?

    Do you think you could add to your firmware request list to Tascam a couple features? I've already emailed them in the past, but maybe more people is better. I wish they would add a reverse playback function ( like flipping over a tape recording a track and flipping it back, so that track is reversed ) the other thing is a pitch playback / record function ( also like a pitch function on tape recorders to slowdown / speed up and pitch up /down the global speed )
    Great info Cheers

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment and ideas. I'll pass them on.
      But honestly, these are CPU intensive process and not sure how it will fit in the general workflow. Pitch/speed up or down are easy in a DAW but the process is destructive and irreversible on the mixer. With tape, slowing down up speeding up is simple, but in a digital world it will change the audio that unless you copy the original, reverting/undo will not be the same audio quality.

  • @ColonelForkEyes
    @ColonelForkEyes ปีที่แล้ว

    What I'm hoping for in future updates would be the ability to add the internal FX to specific channels using the digital screen and keep AUX2 as a second FX send possibly via headphone output 2? Right now that's the one thing I'm finding a bit limiting, I'm fine with using the built-in reverbs and delays for basic 'room' type ambience but also want to be able to send certain channels through more creative FX like dub delays or other crazy stuff.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let's say you have a raw/dry guitar recorded via a DI box into track 1. Just play Ch 1 and send AUX2 to inter FX short delay or slap-back delay. Record this as the only mix-down onto the main bus (while no track is armed for recording, press the REC button. You can now move the Left (Ch 11) to track 2. Now track 2 will have the guitar with slap-back delay printed. Change the FX to reverb so now you can have a guitar with slap-back and reverb.
      Hope this helps

    • @MB-kx5qs
      @MB-kx5qs ปีที่แล้ว

      Why DI Box? I thought with the Tascam Model 12 I could plug a guitar directly into the mixer via a guitar cable? Or is it not possible? Can't I put an electro-acoustic guitar or the signal from a pedal, e.g. the Zoom ms-70cdr, into the combo socket of the Tascam Model 12 via a guitar cable? Isn't that possible? Why do I need a DI Box?

    • @ColonelForkEyes
      @ColonelForkEyes ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a recordable tone plugging an electric guitar straight in and boosting everything, but you won't get a *good* tone, you still need either a mic'd up amplifier or some kind of FX unit that has some amp and cab sims to get a proper sound. This is a recording device, the inbuilt FX are there to add space and ambiance in suble doses, not substitute instrument gear or plugins. @@MB-kx5qs

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MB-kx5qs , Yes, you certainly can plug your guitar directly into any of the inputs. Using a DI box allows you to separate the guitar lead, to also send it to your paddle board and AMP.

    Thank you so much for your videos! I will admit that I was dissapointed to see they didn't resolve the headphone monitoring issue you pointed out in one of your last videos. This seems to be the biggest drawback of the Tascam Model 12 for me -- otherwise I have been extremely happy with it. I hope update 1.5 deals with this! @Tascam

      If you’re referring to headphones locked with main fader, this was resolved in firmware 1.30. You can select if your headphones output is pre or post main fader, allowing you to mute the main bus but still able to listen on headphones.

    • @joelpoitras6226
      @joelpoitras6226 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RecordingStudio9 Yes!
      Having MP3 format would be great yes!.
      So we could import the MP3 master stereo file directly from the Model 12 to a cellphone using a single Type C to Type C cable.
      In the past decade , companies innovated into advanced features and options, but what i'm reading from consumers of these technologies is more of a demand for simplicity and Logic.
      The "Less is more" quote is very true concerning musicians and songwriters, where as advanced technology only appeals to studio engineers really.

    Thank you for this video - I'm hoping this update helps with some of the issues I've been having! When I go to the Tascam site and the downloads page, I'm only seeing software updater files for v1.2, from 2020. I'm on a mac, if that matters. Could you provide a link to where you're getting the update file? I feel like it should show on that page, but I'm just not seeing it. Thank you! And thanks so much for your videos. Subscribed, and so appreciative!

    • @RecordingStudio9

      As of firmware version 1.3 you can select and separate your headphone volume from the main fader. You can watch my previous videos on the topic.

    What about a video on the fader hiss noise? I bought a model 12 few months ago and all faders down, zero hiss/white noise, but raising the fader will bring up a hiss noise. Gain knob is not affecting the hiss at all. There is hiss even at 0 gain.
    P.S. If the mic is in - it's the same, does'nt make a difference. Checked also its not a cable or interference problem, could this be digital noise inherent in the mixer? Will there be a firmware update on this?

      Using the internal FX is not recorded onto the individual tracks, just on the main bus (CH 11/12). On playback from the MTR, you can change and apply different effects.

    Come on Tascam, let us use the aux outputs in daw control mode already

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Instead of just 1 stereo USB return, maybe have extra 4, for Aux1 & Aux2 and two for SUB physical outs. Then you can use external hardware during your mixing in DAW mode. These USB returns can just go directly to the outputs. I know this is possible.
