i love how experimental Regina's music can be, how unafraid she is being unconventional to deliver messages and emotions in such creative and moving ways that stick with you, yet even though her tracks can sound so different from each other (especially across the years!) you can always feel Regina's energy and authenticity. it's magical. this song was a great surprise and huge bop
I also love how she’s able to incorporate very modern and relevant production in her songs, which is witnessed beautifully here. The instrumental is filled with little stems and beats that you can hear in any Top 40 song on the radio right now, but it’s always done so subtly and carefully. It doesn’t take away from the song because she know that it’s just flourish. Sometimes, you don’t even notice it or you forget because the writing is just so good. The song, the foundation, needs to be strong first. I’m glad that she’s able to embrace these new tricks while also staying true to her potent and dynamic songwriting and never forgetting her way.
I've been listening to her since 2008. Every new album she's released has been absolutely amazing to me. I listen to a lot of music and she's one of the few who has stuck with me this long and this strongly.
No matter how many years have gone by I always always find myself singing her songs music box, BYOS or baby Jesus 😂 15 years of listening to Regina and she’s just as much a treat to listen to
I remember an interview where she said she tries to write meaningful things but then she has a thought about meatballs or something and she writes about that haha
I don’t know what this song is about right now, and there’s no annotations anywhere yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but, to me, it speaks to human nature always wanting more and seeking more - doing it in a rushed, careless way that has no consideration for the well-being of the planet or others. Like, the endgame is to just seek the answer and keep going and going down this infinite cycle. We’re going to seek out that answer, like it or not.
Lyrics make me think of how we're always striving for the next thing and there's always something more. Looking for answers but with every answer we just have more questions. Hurrying to a place with no destination. This song is as deep as you want it to be. Love it.
"This song is as deep as you want it to be." just like the chase for answers or the hurry to a place with no destination is as far as you want it to be. What I like is I think of this song as diving into any human mind, are base instincts or base drives, where were all going to. I feel more connected to people when I listen.
I feel like this could be about the ever present need for instant gratification of our modern world. We're all trying to hurry hurry hurry all the time to get those answers from those damn flowers.
Makes me think of human curiosity and all the consequences, good and bad, set from pre recorded history, when the first of our species desired to know more and have more and our hunger kept growing to unsustainable heights. Mademoiselle Regina Your Mind.
It's so curious how every Regina record has a "musically provoking" song in it that seeks for a sort of unsettling/tough mood! This definitely belongs to the same family of Love Affair, Edit, Machine, All the Rowboats, Small Bill$ and so on... every record seems to have one!
certainly, I can barely handle the radio. And Regina is so generous with how much she produces that she doesn't leave us starving. I could spend forever with all her albums...
I've been a fan since day 1 seeing her in Boston by random tickets given to me and still to this day I'm baffled she's not had a massive breakout moment as a "New Artist" to the world like so many other Female Singer/Songwriters have over the last decade
I remember living by her early demos and fan videos shot on digital cameras (2004ish?). They felt like brilliant stories found in a grubby old notebook. Her songs now sound like stories told on a beautiful well lit stage with an orchestra and I love this for all of us.
OMG she came back with the same vibe of suspense and mystery that many of the two old songs have. The tone of this song reminded me a lot of "All the Rowbots", "Small Bills" and "Genius Next Door". Her talent is insane!
Regina is my secret love.. I love old school rock. Pink Floyd is my favorite band if all time but Regina is right there still rattling the cages and pushing the boundaries. Loved her since the late 90s when I found her on an obscure college radio station.
This song, for me is about going great lengths to find the truth in this time of instant anything. I have a feeling she'll go as abstract as she was in her earlier works. Love the beat and adding it to my running playlist :)
I absolutely love this metaphoric cryptic message it resonates so well with me and the artistic style in her voice and emotion describes the rat race to a tee ...Thank you Regina you continue to satisfy with your personal art by just being you ☺❤💯%
It kinda gives me "Edit"/"All The Rowboats"/"The Trapper And The Furrier" vibes. Definitely different from "Becoming All Alone", but I love it nonetheless. Regina never disappoints.
Wow! At the beginning I thought that the lyrics were going to be a litlle too mainstream with the classic repetition of lines but inmediately it started to sound like an intentional compulsive repetition to set the crazy mood. It's been a while since the last time I took a break to enjoy Regina's music... I loved it!
I love the Rollercoaster 🎢 that this song takes you on. It really reminds me of her old stuff. Still experimental, fresh, and refreshing. I love you Regina!
I am so excited for the new album and it makes me so happy that many people share in my admiration and love for Regina! 'Becoming All Alone' speaks to me on a different level.
o wow, regina trully is something else like, this is just surprising and unexpected in the most delightful of ways. It really is amazing how she still keeps experimenting and finding new ways to experiment. it's just hella incredible to see
This feels like the the MMO player's anthem to me. Everyone hurrying to get in and level as fast as possible. Forever chasing the fun they hope to find in the game that their nostalgia tells them has to be in there somewhere.
Wow such a different style I'm hooked it's very James Bond too from the mid section on. And while it's very much in her style with the fluctuations from highs to lows and repetitive phrases her actual sound to her voice is much different I don't know if this is because of how she actually sounded singing or how it was recorded but it's nice
I have an interpretation for that song, I don't know if it's accurate, it's just something I came up with listening to the song. It's like an inner journey of self-knowledge, as you seek and explore more and more answers within you. Because you know, we can find many answers inside of us, we just have to look for it. And we have to "hurry" doing it like your life depended on it, because we've spent too much time "out", not knowing ourselves truly. Something like that, it makes sense to me. But I think this song is meant to be interpreted in many ways, love it!
I have loved Regina's work since her first single, even had one of her songs on my MySpace page, that'd how old I am lol. I've seen her in concert many times. I just always love her music, no matter what it is.
This strangely reminds me of Edit from Begin to Hope and the whispered ending reminds me of the interlude from Soviet Kitsch mixed together with All the Rowboats! As the second song on the album (after the gorgeous Becoming All Alone)this really takes an awesome turn. Can’t wait for the full record!!!
Yes, this also gave me Edit vibes, but lyrically it also reminds me of Pound of Flesh/Ezra Pound sort of in the way it's like 'this' leads into 'this' leads into 'that' leads into 'that' and so on and so on.
goshhhh!! I feel like I'm alive again.. and need to find a true purpose to go on.. not just live day after day. Regina!!! how do you keep the flame alive. so pure. so true. so authentic.
I definitely view this song as the endless desire for humans to be first in line. The constant mental need of being ahead of all others in knowledge and success. The yearning to be of more importance. Slow down people! Relax and enjoy the small things. We're only here for a short time. To add, I love this song.😊
I feel like this song’s about the dangers of long-term psychedelic use and someone who’s becoming “addicted” to having these grand, spiritual experiences. Especially since the song slows down after the narrator “tastes” the nectar (a common affect of psychs are changes in one’s sense of time) and how side effects of long-term use are paranoia and disorganized thinking.
The lyrics describes something big, then describes something smaller within that big object, then describes something even smaller within that big object that is within the even bigger object, the lyrics aren't simple, if you're trying to understand it, try looking in the sky and clouds, or the Ocean, or a Cave in a Mountain, or even a Misty Forest, in a way I can see a lesson within those lyrics, a lesson such as "There's always something more to learn", "When one question is answered 10 more takes it's place" and "Everything isn't always as it seems". Aside from the Lyrics Regina's voice is hauntingly beautiful, I want to hear more from her.
This is a masterpiece! My understanding of this song is that it sings about curiosity which is bold and so vital and necessary for crucial thing in our lives - cognition. Hurry but slow down. Festina lente So unique. Braaavooo!!!
I have listened to this song 36 times and it’s barely been out a week, I’ve always loved Regina and for this this is why, nothing like anything I’ve ever heard, so utterly original and Regina, hypnotic & eery yet also calmly empowering, my favourite song of the year so far
soososoosososoosososo sooooo happy!!!!!!!! so happy to add another thing to add to my home, before and after playlist that i’m keeping to tide me over until the full album comes out!
Really appreciate the Indian classical influence. Works well with a sense of urgency! And the drop fits just like a breath from vishnu, a lovely new start
We always chasing that next goal we set for ourselves. Always hurrying and we miss out on so much that is right in front of us. Follow the queen's advice and slow down.
This is like another song from The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour or Sgt. Peppers. My hunger for The Beatles' new songs is somehow satisfied. Amazing track!
all I could imagine is an adventure thriller of group of people or kids looking for an answer in mystery but it gets just more chaotic as they unravel things. also I badly want to hear this with multiple kids singing..that'd be eerie...good
Regina is the only artist that I love everything she releases. She just sends so much emotion into every song and it makes it a truly great composition. This song is creepy and haunting and amazing and beautiful and I love Regina Spektor so much.
Of all the songs I expected to hear when I clicked this video... It was not that. Holy moly! This song taps into her edgy experimental side in a very refreshing way!
Imagining this being the inner thoughts of a bee 🐝

And it's so James Bond! I was like oh this is nice and then BAM ORCHESTRA AND TEMPO UPPED! Man everything she does is stunning
I also love how she’s able to incorporate very modern and relevant production in her songs, which is witnessed beautifully here. "No need to say goodbye" hooked me .
That’s why we love the shit out of her!
Perfectly said. Regina, it seems, can do almost anything, and it will be great.
Been listening to Regina since 8th grade. Can't believe she still finds new ways of surprising me with her music. ♥
She's so talented...I never even heard of her until last year...she should be as famous as gaga..
I've been listening to her since 2008. Every new album she's released has been absolutely amazing to me. I listen to a lot of music and she's one of the few who has stuck with me this long and this strongly.

I found Regina when Microsoft were advertising the Zune they used Us in one of their ads. I've been obsessed ever since! I'm absolutely loving this ❤️
I found out about her when I saw the fidelity mv on vh1 channell. She was my fixation ever since 2008 ish!
I'll admit I don't always understand what shes talking about in her songs, but all her songs evoke so many feelings
I remember an interview where she said she tries to write meaningful things but then she has a thought about meatballs or something and she writes about that haha
Agree
Ambiguity and allegory, symbolism and archetypes, it's all good fun. Poetry. Right Click & Search

As a meditator of 12 years, I can't help thinking this is about meditation and the inner journey.
Omg I thought something like that too. As an inner journey of self-knowledge, like there are many answers within us. I love this interpretation!!
As a vajra master I know she's talking about my rape
Definitely feels like it could be part of a movie.

Regina is a genius. This song is about the amapola and the addicts looking for it.
Bold, hypnotic. A fine example of the magic of her music. Can't wait for the new album.
