Incredible win to keep the momentum going. Was there tonight, atmosphere was fantastic and the Mets fans were louder than the Yankees’ all night!

What The Hell was Garrett Thinking (and Frankie A too) by throwing that fat fastball down the middel at Judge for a Grand Salami. SOB. He was done at 0-2 , he can't touch good Sliders or a Cutter. Understood that a wild pitch would have brought in a run, but he should have "wasted" a pitch to get Judge Fishing. I hate that kind of stupidity. I like Nothing Better as a Mets Fan than to Thrash The dreaded Yankees at any opportunity. JD Martinez has been an Extraordinary addition to our Lineup! I did NOT think that when he was signed bc of his age. Glad He Fooled me. The only thing that still slaps me in the face is the lack of Power from Pete A. He should have at least 22 Homer by now - clutch Homers would be very nice. However, he is really pl;aying a very good First Base !! It appears that Jeff McNeil may be coming out of his Funk ! That would be a nice Boost to our Offense. LGM!! Since 1962 when I was 11 YO.
I wonder if they told Alonso to just get hits and not focus on HRs as much. I think he's started hitting better and getting those extra base hits that drives runners in, when not trying to hit everything out of the park.
Let’s Go Mets! We gotta weather this storm without Diaz. That ejection & suspension are trash.
Figures Tonkin starts pitching well with the Yanks after we release him🫤 Ottovini has been inconsistent. Drew Smith has a good arm but he can be shaky at times. Garrett has been great though. We might mot have a big name starter at least until Senga gets back which is huge. We have solid starting pitching with a lot of depth. Now that Peterson is healthy he seems to be a lot more crisp & nasty.
We should extend Severino who’s returned to form so we have some continuity & don’t have too much turnover with 34 year old Quintana in his last year here. Extend Severino so we have a veteran 1-2 atop the rotation with Severino & Senga. Hopefully Manea exercises his player option as stays as the #3. Then we have Megill & Peterson both of who are versatile & can pitch from the pen along with Luchessi who has pitched well when called on. We have top rookie pitcher Christian Scott likely ready to stay up for good once he’s brought back & some other exciting pitching prospects nearing the majors like Tidwell. That is some solid depth.
We don’t necessarily need to add a starter. We could & maybe should trade Quintana for an outfield bat. Maybe Quintana & a pitching prospect & hitting prospects for Luis Robert Jr of the White Sox?
One thing is for certain, we need to add at least one reliever if not two. A lefty who can pitch the 8th & close occasionally to let Diaz rest would be idesl. The Astros are having an off year so Josh Hader makes sense at the right price. He isn’t the same as he was a couple of years ago but still solid. He’d pair well with Diaz & won’t cost too much. We cannot rashly trade any of our top prospects. Jett the Net, Gilbert, Clifford, Acuna, Scott, Tidwell, Vasil, Stuart, Houck & Sproat should all be untouchable. Sproat could fast track it to the majors.
Anyway, we need outfield help & a couple of bullpen arms. We need to extend Alonso yesterday. Extend Severino & JD Martinez a year.
The Mets started slow but started playing much better. Then Alvarez got hurt in a freak incident where he put his hand out while tripping & jacked up his thumb. Then we started scuffling & flailing. He is crucial to this team & pitching staff. Since his return & since JD got hot, Vientos got called up & others like Iglesias started producing we’ve been on a tear. We looked horrible yet I knew there was too much talent here & only needed to get healthy. If the guys stay healthy & play to their capability we’ll be fine. We need the young guys like Vientos & Baty to play to their potential too. With a few shrewd moves to address the bullpen & perhaps get a bat with some pop as insurance for Marte, we should be in great shape for the stretch run.

Great win but man, these middle relievers!!! And why did the third base coach let Pete try to score from second on a shallow base hit? Good thing the game wasn't closer but it's these small attention to details that matter. Let's play smart baseball cause this team has a real shot at the wild card.
I know. He's a big man...I assume not much speed. Just seeing him sliding into home is cringe worthy.
I agree with the point but Pete runs pretty well for a big guy. I’ve seen him leg out those runs before and verdugo just so happened to throw a missile straight to jose.

So, we first had the bullpen trying to cover for the weaknesses across the team, and eventually couldn't handle it, becoming a weakness itself. Now, with the rest of the team reversing course, they have the effect of taking pressure off of the bullpen, which now seems like their only weakness. MLB's sabotage of Diaz aside, it says much that Garrett got to stay in, even after the Gavel got dropped on him. A month ago, you'd see a bullpen change, even with Diaz out. Now, they can absorb a few hits and still finish things off.
Mets right now are on FIRE! compared to how they were playing just a 3/4 few months back they were 1 of the worst teams crazy!.
