And one more thing, Mat Kearney himself said he is a practicing christian, and this is one of his songs with christian lyrics, along with Girl America and Closer To Love, so YES this is a christian song, sorry for those of you who have a problem with that, we should all really stop categorizing things so much, i mysef happen to be allowed to feel The Spirit when listening to alot of songs that arent christian songs, but the lyrics or a certain line will speak to my heart as a christian, im not blessed with musical talent but i would think its a compliment to any artist if their work can be interpreted and enjoyed in a multitude of circumstances.

This is how non believers feel when they're trying to resist the love of God until His grace , mercy and lovingkindness calls out to them. I will always be a believer that any art (photography, dance, theatre, and music) is open to interpretation. As an atheist, I never and I mean NEVER thought that this song was about God. I viewed it as a romantic relationship rather than a spiritual one. In my head, it is linked to Ships In The Night. I actually stumbled across this song because I was watching a video about a tv show. I've heard his music before and I think we can all agree that he's great.

With this, you're talking about more of an application rather than a interpretation because the purpose of the song is not obscure.

My ex showed me this song when we were dating... We loved each other, but it was a toxic relationship. The fact that she showed this to me as a love song and I didn't know it was about God just symbolizes how much I've changed and grown since I broke with her 6 months ago.
