Can’t wait for more videos on Jews Starlo! As someone from Vic, they are pretty much the rarest fish. Ironically I saw a soapie while retrieving at Werribee boat ramp early in the morning eating flies of the top!
Well done, Starlo! Your videos cover such a big variety of types of fishing. I think that’s what distinguishes you from the rest of fishing TH-camrs. Starlo’s fishing videos are never boring. 😂 Thank you sir!
Your a legend starlo got your first fishing book as a present in 1987, since then I've Been hooked on fishing pardon the pun. Thanks for great TH-cam videos champ
Nice...my dad found in a 2nd hand book shop the Encyclopaedia of Australian Fishing(those big blue binders) in 89 after I caught my 1st fish on a lure a bass with a rooster tail celta as I was so excited & dad knows nothing about fishing but an uncle loved fishing he took me bait fishing a couple times which is cool but there's something special about skinny water lure fishing🤙🏻
Walking back with the missus from a fishless spin session, an old bloke said " they catch big fish from that end of the beach at night." I felt like saying " shut up, I know. " 😂
No shock at all you're Starlo a fishing legend!. I grow up watching you every weekend with the old man, it's awesome to see you on youtube, love the videos keep it up mate!
There’s something that always amazes me about land based jew. Perhaps it’s the perceived difficulty, elusive nature of the fish, or low to nil success rate. Either way, it fascinates me, and it’s great to see you out there chasing them. Great video Steve 💪💪
Indeed! I already battle keeping everything working... batteries charged, cards emptied and back in the cameras (!), mics working and synced... The struggle is real! ;) Throw in darkness and it all goes next level!
Nice flathead Starlo. I am still trying for my first jewfish off the beach in Darwin. I have heard of them being caught off the beach at Mandorah so they should be around town too?😊🐠🎣🐠
I caught black jewies from Buffalo creek near the boat ramp, on the N side of Darwin (used to live in Jingili so Buff creek was one of my local spots. Also caught some mighty threadfin there too, but honestly mate, the hand bags make being anywhere near the waters edge in Darwin at night an incredibly stupid thing to do. Go to Stokes Hill Wharf if you want to fish at night, and waft an unweighted whole squid past the shadow line - AND HOLD ON ! You might get past the barra, trevally & sharks to nail a black jew. If you're into "swoffing" use a fly that looks like a potato chip. The tourists throw chips into the water at night, and they disappear in enormous explosions from unseen fish-beasts. Check the regs if you can still fish at Stokes hill wharf though as it's been a long while since I lived in Darwin.
As I was swimming once again for my Lure Projects crank bait I was thinking as everything from 5minutes ago is retro these days Starlo you should get Shimano to do retro run of those fantastic hard bodies like the fore mentioned & that wax wing maybe even exclusive discount for us Fishtopian's😉👍🏻ps maybe if you got a horde have a give away a couple on ya website!
Here in Denmark and Scandinavia night fishing for sea run trout is very popular. Both on the fjordcoast and in rivers. Also different types of cod fish and sea bass are fished at night and some of the largest fish are caught in the dark. We use very dark lures and flies fished high in the water colomn. It gives a very clear silhouette against the night sky, which the fish can see very easily.
Starlo, I was wondering why the baitcaster and not a spin outfit? I fluked a big beast (94cm Jewy) a couple of weeks ago while fishing for flathead in a little over 1 metre of water. 15lb braid, 8lb leader on a very light flick rod and a Double Clutch 95. Managed to get it in after a very long fight. Funny! Thought it was a massive flathead at first, then nah - too big, gotta be a stingray acting strange. Then it turns out to be a mulloway. Blew me away!

@@hairyscary8511 absolutely I've lived and worked overseas for a decade and what I miss the most about home is family and fishing 🎣

Worth the extension of time casting-sometimes we pull the pin to early we give up
So true!
Catching a Jewie in a local estuary or off the rocks locally has become a dream of mine too
Let's hope we can make it come true!
Lovely flattie mate! Pretty hard filming at night hey, maybe you need a remote control bank of floodlights! ;)

That is one hell of a lizard. Well done.

Cracking fish starlo, how long ago did you catch this and was the water brown?
Couple of days... just before it turned to mud!

Top idea... don't like my chances, but I'll give it a go.
Didn't Rod Harrison always say just 1 more cast
Yep... I think it's something a LOT of fishers say!
If I had a dollar for every time I said “last cast”, I’d be a millionaire by now
Caught alot of flattys around that spot and some nice legal flounder back in the day
Nice. 👍
Thanks 👍 for releasing 😄 you can call him again 😅😅

Nice Steve. Near the rod tip would have given you a heart starter.
And, did you pay royalties for the Jaws theme?😅
