- This was my first track race in three years. I had a lovely pair of Nike Air Zoom Victory sat waiting to be used. Before I hit the track championships in them I had to road (actually track) test them a few days before. Find out how transitioning to track spikes suited my running, and whether I was able to win any silverware.
Brilliant running Dawn and commentary. Congratulations on smashing the F60 AG in all your races.
I really love and appreciate your videos very much, so relatable, informative and inspiring :))
Thanks so much x
Thank you. That's very kind. 🙂 What distances do you race?
@@tworunningbroomsI’m a bit in between at the moment and trying my hand (or feet) at ultra running. I do miss running fast through and on the road run 5k - marathons :)
Might get back on the road next season… and quite fancy a go on the track after watching you too 😊
I think I'd be nervous at a track event. Excellent running, Dawn 👍🏻🏃♂️ Can't wait to find out what the newspapers have to say about you 🙂
Sadly we bought a paper but nothing was in there...🤣
Well done dawn!
67 year old here, re started running at 64.
Masters running pivotal in keeping me motivated.
Excellent. Did you run in your youth and rerurn to it later, or was the age of 64 the first time you'd been a runner?
@@tworunningbrooms start of the running boom in the 80s.
Took a 12 year break from 2008 to 2019😏
Well done, Dawn.
Thank you 👍
Dawn the model haha, great running well done!! RESPECT
🤣🤣
Fantastic effort Dawn! 3000m on the track is a tough, but fun distance to run. A lot of runners don't seem to want to race anything shorter than 5k, but I think they'd really enjoy it if they gave it a go!
Thanks. Yes, I think there's misconceptions about racing on the track. It tends to send fear into some, and in all honesty, until you have a go, I can understand why. I like taking on distances that I don't really train for. Probably no expectations or pressure there....Or maybe just good to get out of your comfort zone.
Excellent training Dawn, I have never raced on a track, think I’d be nervous, awesome getting on the news paper, interesting day of surprises, keep up the good work, those spike running shoes look amazing 🥳👍🏼👍✅🌴🙏🏃🏽♂️😃
Thank you, Reece. Yes, the spikes are great, but they leave the calves a little sore after wearing them. 🙂
Those shoes looked quality 🔥🙌 Well done for racing and the race footage, I don't find track racing my cup of tea haha
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's over quickly. 🤣
Well done and good to see more coverage of track masters events. I think my nerves are in inverse relation to the race distance so probably worse for 800/1500/Mile and probably more for the effort about to do. Is that a covered sprint straight they have at Leigh? Good that the Air Zoom Victory suit you. Found they really throw you forwards. TBH a bit too much for my liking. Dragonflys I find do a bit but not quite as noticeable.
Yes, it's a covered sprint straight that overlooks the track, so you get a good view of the action if using it to warm up.
I found my calves were sore after wearing them, but OK now. I'm just not used to spikes.
I have a 100m. 800m and 1500m on the same day in a few weeks time. I'm a bit nervous and expect to be last, but looking forward to it. I've decided I actually like track! 👍 😁
Well in Dawn !! Great run 😃
Cheers, Matt. 👍
Cheers, Matt 👍
Another great performance Dawn. Well done 😊
Did you find your picture and article in the paper?
Thanks, Rachel. Sadly, we bought a paper for £4 and couldn't find anything.🤣 A photo shoot for nothing. 🤣 I might ask the organisers about it.
Great running as ever 👏 ‘It would be silly to run in them without transitioning’ - that reminds me I still need to find my spikes in the loft 😂
It's definitely worth trying the spikes, but don't do 2 days before like I did as I had sore calves going into the race. 😅
@@tworunningbrooms over shorter distances I recall it’s slightly easier. 🤞My spikes have no cushioning at all on the back end, so naturally make me run on the balls of my feet. When I first got them I ran about 3k in them and felt like I’d been shot in the back of both legs the day after 😂
