I know everyone has their own opinions and this may sound completely ignorant, but anyone who dislikes the Big Lebowski, I cannot respect as a human being.. and I am the Walrus.
If someone doesn't like the Big Lebowski, all I have to say to them is, "Yeah well, that's just like, you're opinion man." Or how bout, "You're out of your element!"
10. The Contender 9. True Grit 8. Fearless 7. The Last Picture Show 6. The Fabulous Baker Boys 5. Thunderbolt & Lightfoot 4. The Fisher King 3. Hell Or High Water 2. Crazy Heart 1. The Dude
Any list that have The Big Lebowski as no 1 is a good list. It´s not only a fantastic movie but Mr Bridges role as 'the Dude' is one of the best performances ever made.
Jeff Bridges can't be contained to a "Top 10" list as his catalog of films is too impressive. He's been nominated for 5 Oscars so that's half a list right there. My favorite performance is Lightfoot in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Sad ending too... No mention of Preston Tucker in Tucker "The Man and His Dream", Fearless, Rancho Deluxe, Blown Away, K-Pax or The Amateurs. Damn good actor.
0:30 Iron Man 1:31 Tron 2:24 Starman 3:22 True Gift 4:09 The Contender 5:04 The Fisher King 6:07 Thunderbolt and Lightfoot 7:08 The Last Picture 8:03 Crazy Heart 9:20 Bonus 10:00 The Big Lebowski
Glad to see Arlington Road mentioned. It's an oft forgotten movie that is actually incredibly solid, and is even MORE relevant today than it was when it was made in the late 90s.
Jeff always struck me as one among a rare breed of truly gifted artists. An amazing metamorphosis; a man creating, and truly 'becoming' a character in any one of many different roles. An incredible actor. 'Method' with the highest of honor's . He completely abandons everything of himself, and Lives this other entity, a man who doesn't even belong in his own time. Yeah, I guess he's pretty good.
+Coco Pops He is more famous. How much more acclaim could he get? Hollywood pedigree (son of Lloyd), became a star is first time out (Last Picture Show), continuous stream of great roles, Oscar winner, and... forever: The Dude!
My addition to this list would be 8 Million Ways To Die. Jeff Bridges' performance in that film was outstanding. Also featured the first prominent role for Andy Garcia. On a side note, Jeff Bridges plays Matthew Scudder from the Lawrence Block novels, the same character Liam Neeson portrays in A Walk Among The Tombstones.
From a pure acting-becoming one with the character - pure talent performance, his best acting job EVER was in "The Vanishing" with Sandra Bullock and Kiefer Sutherland. And the fact that it's not on the list is a disgrace. And the fact that it's not in the honorable mentions is just unacceptable.
The Big Lebowski, my favorite movie of all time. I even have a "Dudes Rug" mouse pad lol. I cheered when i saw it at number one. Thank you watchmojo, you made my day!
So many of these actor top 10's would really only be accurate if the actor had only done 10 movies. Everything Jeff Bridges does is excellent. Such a great actor.
Dude has to be one of my favorite actors. I've been ordained and follow the code of The Dude, but even before that I've loved Jeff Bridges since I saw Tron as a kid.
Yeah - I love the Dude and all, and it's certainly his most iconic role, but for sheer acting prowess, 'Fearless' really should have made this list, and high up on it.
When you guys were talking about runner ups and said "the dude" I almost had a heart attack, there was zero transition, I assume that was intensional. Crazy heart is insanely heart breaking at certain times. You guys nailed this list, bridges is one of those actors that choosing ten must have been really tough. Just to add I really liked him in the vanishing, I don't want to ruin who or what he is so ill just say he played that part really well too.
Been marathoning 55 of Jeff's works and my top faves are: Arlington Road Blown Away Winter Kills Bad Company (the 1972 film) Simpatico Cutter's Way 8 Million Ways to Die Halls of Anger (his very first movie before The Last Picture Show) Tucker: The Man and His Dreams White Squall Against All Odds The Last American Hero Fearless Thunderbolt and Lightfoot Starman The Fisher King Seabiscuit I enjoy him best in thrillers and action. Also, if anyone craves a quality rom-com, then The Mirror Has Two Faces, See You in the Morning and Kiss Me Goodbye are worth checking out.
I love how they're like: before we unveil our number one pick like it's a biiig secret. OF COURSE THE DUDE WAS GOING TO BE NUMBER 1...I knew it before I even started watching the video as I'm sure most everyone else was.
1. Lebowski 2. The Fisher King 3. Fearless 4. Crazy Heart 5. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot 6. The Door In The Floor 7. Hell or Highwater 8. True Grit 9. Jagged Edge 10. SeaBiscuit Bonus: Surf's Up
Top 10 Celebrity Voiceovers in Cartoons. Criteria: The actor must be more widely known for his or her live action work than voice work. The cartoon must be a TV series, not a movie. It must be limited to one character per series. Don't include "The Simpsons"; that's a whole other category on its own. EDIT: I'd like to make an amendment: Guest stars on "The Simpsons" are allowed so long as they've made at least 5 appearances on the show.
I know this list precedes Hell or High Water but Bridges is so fabulous, it needs to be mentioned here. I also can't imagine a 10 Best Bridges list without Rancho Deluxe, Hearts of the West, Cutter's Way, 8 Million Ways to Die, Tucker, Blown Away, or Seabiscuit. Of course, that's 7 films right there and doesn't even include any of his award-winning performances. Basically, it's impossible to keep a Jeff Bridges list to 10. (I would have happily left Tron off myself, but that's me.)
It's my favorite performance by anybody ever. The least they could've done is not teased it at the beginning. The further we got into the vid my heat sank more and more. When we got to number 4, I knew we would have have to settle for HM. But NOPE! I
Jeff Bridges and Daniel Day-Lewis. the best of their generation. ... of course, we could throw in a half dozen more, ... but they seem to top the list.
Jeff Bridges is such a great actor - too bad that he's hardly ever named in line with actors like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino - he really should be in this line!! By the way: What about "Fat City"?
Agreed. It's all johnny Depp and Tom Cruise these days. When I watch Jeff Bridges in a movie. He immediately makes me forget he is acting the part. As he does his roles so well, that I believe him. Johnny Depp has never done shit for me, except dress up in weird clothes and look moody.
Hey mojo, I feel like us Aussies aren't getting much love from you guys :( So I suggest perhaps a top 10 best Australian films list! That would be fuckin awesome :)
The scene where he teaches Cody how to make a surfboard is my favorite. Cody's itching to take over, but it's all coming back to the Big Z and he's in a trance. just... gently...with the grain.... stroke.... by stroke....
Top 10 of Jeff Bridges performances? Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Gold.
Dude
*"Shut the FUCK up, Grzegorz Lament!"* Oh, I'm sorry, I meant Donny
Walter Sobchek - the best co-star in all Jeff Bridges movies
Well said. Flynn
You're not wrong, you're just an asshole.
That #1 really tied the list together
and this guy pissed on it.
Fucking A,
*****
Donny, please.
MARK IT ZERO!
the dude abides
I know everyone has their own opinions and this may sound completely ignorant, but anyone who dislikes the Big Lebowski, I cannot respect as a human being.. and I am the Walrus.
Shut the fuck up bobby! ;)
We (the royal "We", you know, the editorial) totally agree!!!
TheMadThresher This aggression will not stand man.
"Stop liking things I don't like", barked the dolt.
If someone doesn't like the Big Lebowski, all I have to say to them is, "Yeah well, that's just like, you're opinion man." Or how bout, "You're out of your element!"
10. The Contender
9. True Grit
8. Fearless
7. The Last Picture Show
6. The Fabulous Baker Boys
5. Thunderbolt & Lightfoot
4. The Fisher King
3. Hell Or High Water
2. Crazy Heart
1. The Dude
dr strangelove you only put fearless at number 8?
Yep Crazy Heart and The Dude!!!
Jeff Bridges is a cheap POS, he stole a painting from me....he was suppose to buy it or send it back to me...I pay $900 just for the frame
I think everyone knew #1 before the video even started.
Any list that have The Big Lebowski as no 1 is a good list. It´s not only a fantastic movie but Mr Bridges role as 'the Dude' is one of the best performances ever made.
Cause he was not making any efforts in playing that part …. He IS THE DUDE….
big lebowski is surely his greatest performances ever, bad blake second, but for me true grit is his third greatest performance
Whoa, whoa. I know Big Lebowski is #1, but we're leaving out "Hell or High Water." Where's that rank?
True Grit should be higher. It was a fantastic performance!
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Damn right number one, "The Dude abides!"
I agree. But the video left out "Hell or High Water." Where's that rank?
2013 , dude .
Jeff Bridges is a cheap POS, he stole a painting from me....he was suppose to buy it or send it back to me...I pay $900 just for the frame
Jeff Bridges is one of the best actors ever. Great in everything he has done.
Great list! Gotta agree with #1! Nothing of his beats The DUDE!! The Dude abides!
True! I agree with you!
Damn right, man!
Sometimes you eat the bar
This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!!! Lol
I dunno about you, but I take comfort in that.
As much as I love the dude, his Rooster Cogburn performance is to me is one of the most bad ass roles I've ever seen in history
I love Thunderbolt & Lightfoot too! 😁
Glad to see Starman here. What a lovely film. ♥
That movie is beautiful, better than terrific, better than dutch apple pie.
0:30 Iron Man 1:31 Tron 2:24 Starman 3:22 True Gift 4:09 The Contender 5:04 The Fisher King 6:07 Thunderbolt and Lightfoot 7:08 The Last Picture 8:03 Crazy Heart 9:20 Bonus 10:00 The Big Lebowski
Fearless is one of greatest performances. Everyone was superb and he should have one Award for that one. Masterpiece.
Duane Gibson After I saw him in that film, I was converted to his greatness as an actor.
Duane Gibson Agreed.
Duane Gibson yeah I was shocked it wasnt on the list
Duane Gibson Interesting that a bit is shown in the introductory part.
Loved the film, but many people just don't give Rosie Perez the respect she deserved for her role in this film.
Glad to see Arlington Road mentioned. It's an oft forgotten movie that is actually incredibly solid, and is even MORE relevant today than it was when it was made in the late 90s.
"Where's the money Lebowski!"
"Uhh It's down there somewhere, let me take another look."
"Hey. Atleast i'm house broken." X'D
Yeah, I guess he's pretty good.
well thats just like your opinion man
I AM A NIHLIST, AND I DON'T BELIEVE IN THIS LIST!!!
well, mmm, thats just like your opinion man!!
+Dingo D. Manhunter SHUT THE FUCK UP. You're out of your element.
dipshit with a nine toed woman
Jeff Bridges is does not exist anymore, he's just The Dude..
LickingHelmets Watch "Hell or High Water."
why isn't he more famous? He was so handsome as well as talented!
I agree
+Coco Pops He is more famous. How much more acclaim could he get? Hollywood pedigree (son of Lloyd), became a star is first time out (Last Picture Show), continuous stream of great roles, Oscar winner, and... forever: The Dude!
clare howell Yeah but people praise overrated actors like Eastwood Stallone etc way more. Eli wallach was another underrated actor.
Jeff Bridges IS my favorite actor
still handsome, still talented
I LOVE Jeff Bridges. Such a great actor...
R.I.P.D was a terible movie but Jeff Bridges is what made it bearable
R.I.P.D was freaking awesome!
I agree RussianMagic3 even though I liked Ryan Reynolds.
I liked ripd and I am a 15 year old girl who is a Tom boy
Livia Cook are you still
I loved Jeff Bridges as "Jack Lucas" in "The Fisher King."(1991), opposite Robin Williams. They both did such a great job in the film.
The Dude abides.
The Giver was my favorite of his performances. He expressed so much emotion
He's just great. The Dude, Rooster in True Grit, Thunderbolt and the drunken Bad Blake in Crazy Heart are my favourites!
+GreatVideos Good call. Jeff was scary as fuck in that one.
Jeff Bridges has been in some of my all time favourite films.
The Big Lebowski, my favorite movie of all time. I even have a "Dudes Rug" mouse pad lol. I cheered when i saw it at number one. Thank you watchmojo, you made my day!
How could they not put Fearless in the top 10? It is absolutely one of his best, if not the best dramatic performance.
So many of these actor top 10's would really only be accurate if the actor had only done 10 movies. Everything Jeff Bridges does is excellent. Such a great actor.
This is close to 4 years old and he has had a few performances since that should be on this list.
Fearless didn't make the cut? That baffles me. That would be my number ONE....
I agree. IMO, Jeffs best performance. Fearless has allways been underrated.
thank you watchmojo, keep doing these
Finally they got a list right this time
This is awesome!! One of my favorite watchmojo's to date! Jeff Bridges rocks!
Mr Bridges did a nice sensitive job on Seabiscuit . I enjoyed very much
Can't believe Jagged Edge or Cutter's Way are not on the list. Also, Nadine with Kim Basinger.....hilarious movie!
Thank you for choosing the Big Lebowski as number one because… That movie is like, pure genius meets with pure alternative comedy.
Dude has to be one of my favorite actors. I've been ordained and follow the code of The Dude, but even before that I've loved Jeff Bridges since I saw Tron as a kid.
The best part of "The Baker Boys" was the fabulous Michelle Pfeiffer =)
Yeah - I love the Dude and all, and it's certainly his most iconic role, but for sheer acting prowess, 'Fearless' really should have made this list, and high up on it.
YES!
Thats just like your opinion, man
YES it had to be the Big Lebowski
I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone mention his portrayal of Preston Tucker yet. Truly fantastic!
perfect to come home from school and sit down to a new video :)
Door in the Floor. He was incredible.
His Royal Dudeness. If anything else hit number 1 I would have been upset. The Dude is the greatest, it really ties his career together.
R.I.P.D was only watchable because of Jeff Bridges, the movie was painfull to watch but he made an awesome job in there.
The big Lebowsky, Crazy heart, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, The fisher king, Tucker, True grit, Heaven's gate, Iron man, Tron,
This countdown really tied WatchMojo together
Been marathoning 55 of Jeff's works and my top faves are:
Arlington Road
Blown Away
Winter Kills
Bad Company (the 1972 film)
Simpatico
Cutter's Way
8 Million Ways to Die
Halls of Anger (his very first movie before The Last Picture Show)
Tucker: The Man and His Dreams
White Squall
Against All Odds
The Last American Hero
Fearless
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
Starman
The Fisher King
Seabiscuit
I enjoy him best in thrillers and action.
Yup... "The Dude abides!"
yeah tron should've been ranked higher, but the dude for the win!
He was pretty good as Charles Howard in Seabiscuit.
No Blown away with Tommy Lee Jones? Can't make the list without that flick
1. Lebowski
2. The Fisher King
3. Fearless
4. Crazy Heart
5. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
6. The Door In The Floor
7. Hell or Highwater
8. True Grit
9. Jagged Edge

Awesome call on #1.
You need to make an updated version of this list that includes Hell or High Water.
Top 10 Celebrity Voiceovers in Cartoons.

EDIT: I'd like to make an amendment: Guest stars on "The Simpsons" are allowed so long as they've made at least 5 appearances on the show.
I liked his performance in "Cutter's Way," but that movie was more memorable for John Hurt's great performance - the best he's ever had, IMO.
What about Tucker: The Man and His Dream? I thought he was pretty good in that.
The only thing missing, at least in the Honorable Mentions, is him in K-Pax.

Fearless wasn't on here? Seriously?
Fearless was awesome. It's one of those 90's movies that is still under the radar.
I just bought a copy today at a used dvd store. can't wait to see it
It's my favorite performance by anybody ever. The least they could've done is not teased it at the beginning. The further we got into the vid my heat sank more and more. When we got to number 4, I knew we would have have to settle for HM. But NOPE! I
The only performance I could accept above this one is Big Lebowski
"Fearless" has got to be on the list.
Jeff Bridges and Daniel Day-Lewis. the best of their generation. ... of course, we could throw in a half dozen more, ... but they seem to top the list.
The Dude as number 1? That's just like, your opinion man.
NO DUDE! It's FACT.
Star man should be number 1. That's the best acting I have ever seen.
Fearless should be in the top 5. So should American Heart.
I totally agree with you on that!
Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.
The Big Lebowski - OVER THE LINE!
Jeff Bridges is such a great actor - too bad that he's hardly ever named in line with actors like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino - he really should be in this line!! By the way: What about "Fat City"?
Cus he's the dude

So I suggest perhaps a top 10 best Australian films list! That would be fuckin awesome :)
Fearless needs to be on the list and in the top 3, that was an awesome performance.
Please do 'Top 10 Christmas movies'.
I thought his role as Charles S. Howard in Seabiscuit was one of his most dramatic and charismatic roles.
what about Big Z from Surf's Up? It could at least have been in the Honorable Mentions...
He was awesome in Surf's Up.
The scene where he teaches Cody how to make a surfboard is my favorite. Cody's itching to take over, but it's all coming back to the Big Z and he's in a trance. just... gently...with the grain.... stroke.... by stroke....
And what about "Fearless" ??!! Another great performance !
Fearless...
Jeff Bridges is undisputed one of the greatest actors ever !!!
of course the dude :) he was also good at k-pax
love K-PAX, he was awesome in that movie
you totally missed his best role in "Fearless" that was the peak of his game !
My favorite actor.
And my favorite Dude.
His Performance as Nascar Legend Junior Johnson in The Last American Hero should've been here
His role as Barney in The Vanishing should've been here..... otherwise, I agree with everything else.
It was one of his best performances in my book. Both creepy and sadistic. I agree with Louie here.
yes he was a twisted fuck
his performance in cutters way is also a must see as is john "home alone" heard's performance in the same movie.

I was hoping to see Blown Away somewhere on this list.
"Yeah well, that's just like your opinion, man."
I think Fearless should have at least gotten an honorable mention.
