Dr Joey Sounds like great advice, I'll definitely do it since I don't have the DVD in my rather extensive library. Runner up is The Thing as I grew up watching the original with James Arness. I enjoy all his performances but the comic and action ones I like best.

I've been enjoying Kurt Russel films my whole life, and he is a super talented and highly under rated actor. I've also heard he's a hell of a guy and a classical libertarian (as opposed to a socialist). I agree with some of the other comments that Used Cars should have at least got a mention, if not a ranking. Dreamer was great, and I really liked Tequila Sunrise. His rendition of Elvis' Such a Night is sublime (like better than the original). I look forward to many more great performances.
Ironically, Kurt is a common name of idiot losers from the 80s...but our Kurt is a bad ass, but still traces his roots to that name. if that makes sense

To this day, I still think Death Proof is one of Kurt's most underrated performances. He is so freakin' good in the movie. The entire sequence from the moment he shows up at the roadside bar until the part out on the road halfway through is some of the best acting I've seen from Kurt in his career. Naturally The way this list went is exactly how it should be. Glad to see Death Proof on here.
Soldier should be more than an honorable mention. That scene when he finally finds his humanity and transforms from a killing machine to a defending warrior is understated controlled acting at its best.
yes the fact that he can go from Big trouble (never stop talking ) to soldier (hardly speaking a word) and catch the emotional range of both types of movie shows what an actor he is
Takes a hell of an actor to play a character like Todd, to show no emotion through most of the movie, yet you can still feel it even as his face remains stoic as stone. By far one of his best roles to me. Not to mention the movie is actually set in the same cinematic universe as Blade Runner, and for a long time was considered the "unofficial sequel" to it, which only makes it more endearing.

Just a note, Russell is in a documentary called " The Battered Bastards of Baseball.". Kurt played minor league baseball. His dad, Bing Russell, was an actor and a baseball coaching whisperer. After Bing retired he bought a minor league team. Kurt was a V.P. and a player. This docu is more like a movie about an underdog sports team that beats everyone. It premiered to a standing ovation at Sundance in 2014. Truly an exceptional story, with Kurt. Definitely watch if you have the opportunity.
+Jose E A lot of people don't know that Harrison Ford was a carpenter on the Star Wars set. They hadn't cast the role of Han yet and they needed someone to read the lines during some screen tests. They liked him so much they gave him the part.
I can't believe "Unlawful Entry" wasn't mentioned anywhere in this video. Great film. Some super intense scenes with him and Ray Liotta. One of the best thrillers from the 90's in my opinion.
Kurt is one of the most underrated, under appreciated actors of his generation. Just so many great performances - can't disagree with any on this list but a few others also come to mind: Used Cars, Unlawful Entry, Sky High (wonderful performance), Dark Blue (great performance in so so movie), Best of Times, Silkwood. Should have been nominated for an Oscar for Miracle and Backdraft - two of his very, very best performances as well as the tv Elvis.
My fave Kurt movie is.., (drum roll please)...., "Used Cars" (comedy). My 2nd and 3rd fave is his two Snake Plissken films "Escape from New York" and "Escape from LA".
He has so many great movies that a top ten just never seems to be enough. I couldnt get enough of his movies and his portrayal of every role he played.
EXACTLY. I was a projectionist for 25 years, and Used Cars is the funniest movie I have ever seen. It was produced by a couple young guys named Steven Speilberg and John Milius, along with Bob Gale, and directed by the up-and-coming youngster, Bob Zemekis. And the DVD with the commentary track by Kurt Russell and Zemekis and Gale is a blast. This list is almost the bottom 10 worst movies he's ever done--for sure that Grind House thing sucked. I'm mean, Jack Burton and Snake Plisken, Wyatt Earp, etc. okay, that's fine, but whoever put this list together doesn't know jack about KR. BTW, Kurt Russell fans: Be SURE to check out the docu, The Battered Bastards of Baseball.
Not really, 'cause this list is mostly wrong. This is just a random list, or, maybe this compilation was put together by some film distributor that only has rights to ones on the list. They accidentally did pick a couple of his best, but really missed some biggies, Overboard an excellent example. "Your children are the most incorrigible students in the school!" "Really? ...Well, thank you. Thank you very much."
He was outstanding in JC's The Thing, he really grasped the fact that his character had to realise the magnitude of their situation and the best way to deal with it. You needed to see this at the time and at the cinema to see what i mean.
No mention of Quanto in 2nd season of Lost in Space. Kurt was a chieftains son, challenging Will Robinson for dominance, and lost to superior intellect.
“Your friends might get me in a rush but not before I make your head into a canoe” is the second toughest line ever put to film. “Are you gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?” is the first.
Kurt Russell is one of my favorite actors. He's excellent and I think has been underappreciated by the majority of movie audiences over the years. My top 5 Russell movies are 5. Used Cars 4. Miracle 3. Escape From New York 2. Breakdown 1. The Thing. Tango and Cash definitely gets the honorable mention nod from me, because clearly Russell and Stallone have chemistry and looked like they enjoyed making the movie. And Tombstone is an epic western filled with exceptional performances by the entire cast. I say Russell is my generation's John Wayne, but a much better actor than Wayne, in my humble opinion.
This guy always delivers. Arguably the most underrated actor of his generation and the best Wyatt Earp ever.

+Jose E A lot of people don't know that Harrison Ford was a carpenter on the Star Wars set. They hadn't cast the role of Han yet and they needed someone to read the lines during some screen tests. They liked him so much they gave him the part.
Dude he was considered there is an auction tape of him back in 75
So glad to see Backdraft in the list. Great movie and one of my favorite performamces by Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell is a living legend
I always felt he was underrated as an actor.
I can't believe "Unlawful Entry" wasn't mentioned anywhere in this video. Great film. Some super intense scenes with him and Ray Liotta. One of the best thrillers from the 90's in my opinion.
Absolutely.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm glad at least two people agree with me. I was beginning to think I was the only one.
Overboard, Unlawful Entry, and Breakdown are three of his best performances.
Agree, Unlawful Entry is great film.
Oh yeah! Great movie and Liotta is another amazing performer
Love, love, love The Thing movie. Absolute masterpiece and still underrated. Mr. Russell rocked this one flawlessly.
Snake Plissken from Escape from New York and L.A should be number 1.
+The Joker Agreed
+The Joker About the ONLY thing I could think of putting "Escape from NY" at #2 is "The Thing"...and yes, pun intended.
The Joker Tombstone and The Thing, two of the best films ever!
Used Cars. He was really funny in that one. A true classic now.
majormal1 Rudy Russo for Congress!
My favourite Kurt Russell performance is...
...ALL OF THEM!
One of the most underrated actors in history AND he raised Goldie Hawns kids, not only is he a great actor...HE'S A GENTLEMAN!!!
#1 was a good choice but Executive Decision, Sgt. Todd in Soldier and Ruddy Russo in Used Cars really should’ve been in the top 10.
Young Kurt as "The computer who wore tennis shoes".
As well as the overlooked and underrated "Now You See Him, Now You Don't".
I saw the computer at the theater when it was a fresh release
All of Disney's "Dexter Riley" movies with Kurt in the lead role.
And who could forget Caesar Romero as mobster A. J. Arno in at least two of those?
All his Disney movies were Great.
He was hilarious in Used Cars!
The Sheriff in BONE TOMAHAWK he was awesome in that film.
Anthony Rodriguez absolutely...a lotta folks are sleeping on that film...
I still cringe just thinking about the scene. lol
Kurt Russell is one of my top favorite actors. I loved him in, "Big Trouble in Little China," "Backdraft" and "Escape From "New York."
where's Used Cars?
+Terry Hollas Yeah thats a great movie a forgotten film.
The first movie I ever rented.
Used Cars was his best
We blew the shit out of that overpriced motherfucker
Kurt Russell for star-lords father !
+Jose G (Joe) THAT...would be amazing.
That would be utterly glorious
I can't even describe how great that'd be! Haha.
+Jose G (Joe)
best suggestion I've ever seen on the internet.
+Jose G (Joe) Looking More and More Likely. That would be the Greatest Casting Ever
3000 Miles to Graceland is criminally underrated
Hello Cody, how are you doing today?
I definitely think that Overboard, should have been on this list.
They showed a small clip from it at the beginning.
Fuck yeah baby MacReady is his best role ever.
He was outstanding in JC's The Thing, he really grasped the fact that his character had to realise the
magnitude of their situation and the best way to deal with it. You needed to see this at the time and at
the cinema to see what i mean.
No mention of Quanto in 2nd season of Lost in Space. Kurt was a chieftains son, challenging Will Robinson for dominance, and lost to superior intellect.
Fuck yeah, this dude is the man!
Agreed
Rj Macready Agreed! Such a good actor!
WatchMojo *FINALLY* got one right...LOL
“Your friends might get me in a rush but not before I make your head into a canoe” is the second toughest line ever put to film. “Are you gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?” is the first.
He's my favorite. Captain Ron, Jack Burton, Herb Brookes, Wyatt Earpp, Ego...
Used cars should have been in there. He is one of the best for delivering one liner's.
I loved him as Stephen McCaffrey in backdraft, still have the theater poster for the movie
Rudy Russo: Used Cars not being on the list is a serious mistake.
Aw c'mon!!!! Not one mention of "Used Cars"????? that one is a classic!!!
Kurt Russell is the F'in man!
I saw every single movie he was in and H8teful eight was the shit!
would love it if a local theatre ran a Kurt russell marathon
especially John carpenter who is a freaking genius
The Thing is such a science fiction horror masterpiece, easily one of my favorite films, with
the best ending ever!!!
Without "Used Cars," this list is a sham.
With Al Lewis (Grandpa Munster) as "Hanging Judge Harris".. I pissed myself laughing so hard.
Mr nobody
How dare his Tombstone performance not be number 1?!
this rants suckmojo are hilarious.
Nasty Nate Best Movie EVER!
Especially when he ghost directed the movie as well.
I could also make a strong case for it being Val Kilmer's best work.
Nasty Nate wandering the same thing
Hard to argue that Tombstone was not the best movie of all these listed (and a great job by the rest of the cast too).
Elvis and Herb Brooks--two roles where Russell disappears into a humanized portrait of icons. That's how damn good of an actor he really is.
No Sky High? Really? 😂😂😂
lol I thought that too
He was hilarious. Don't know why it gets overlooked.
+Kyle Williams
I love the part where he breaks the phone, then opens a drawer with 20 other phones in it LOL.
+Kyle Williams That's another movie I have to find. Thanks for reminding me :)
Ayyy just thinking that
Snake..Kurt R.Is the man one of the best actor's of our time...I would like to see him in more movies..Kurt R@Jeff Bridges are the best...
And married to Goldie Hawn for a long time, now! Great actor and great taste in smart, funny women. (And faithful too…)
Bone Tomahawk is just incredible.
loved Capt. Ron
Would lie to know how they missed that one. For a lot of people that is Kurt Russel at his smart ass best.
Absolutely loved Capt. Ron!
After seeing Capt. Ron. I wanted to be Capt. Ron! Just Great.
Sons Of Arkham I was watching the trailer for it and I found this
Sons Of Arkham ive seen captain ron a million times never gets old
Next to Snake Plisscan, Stuntman Mike is my favorite Kurt Russell performance
Stuntman Mike is hard to beat, yes.
Breakdown was really good. Very underrated!
WTF???!!!!!! Used Cars was the hands down best KR movie period. I'm truly shocked that it didn't make this list, even a mention.
People forget he got his start in clean cut Disney movies. It seemed like one day he was clean cut and the next he was Snake.
I don't get how Overboard didn't make the list. It's one of his most popular roles.
snake plissken? i thought he was dead
He is
"I am"
He ain't dead, he went on to make the terrible sequel Escape From LA.
