    Do a full size, non-luxury, SUVs comparison please!

  • @kbb
    @kbb  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For this comparison test, we were looking at 3-row, midsize, non-luxury SUVs. For many of our comparisons we test a subset of vehicles comprised of top sellers and new or updated entries. To that end, we would have loved to include the updated Ford Explorer, but it wasn't available at the time of our test. Thanks guys!

      +Kristofer Christensen Actually Ford has two mid size three row suv/cuv: The Flex and Explorer are the midsize, The Expedition is considered full size.

    The Highlander is the best out of the group! It's comfy, looks good, spacious, and even fun to drive! The 3rd can also accommodate adults nicely with the proper seating settings! Buying a Highlander was the best decision ever! To be honest the Pilot looks like a bloated CR-V on stilts in my opinion, but then again to each his own.

      I tested the Highlander...and the rest of these before I bought the loaded Santa Fe. The problem with the Highlander is it still looks like an SUV instead of a sporty CUV, which is the future. It's grill is ridiculous, and it has a holder thing running along the dash from one end to the other, perfect for stuff to roll around in and drive you nuts.

    My parents have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport Limited, I agree the front seats aren't the most comfortable, but I love everything else about it, especially the 2.0 litre turbo engine, it's quick.

    1st: Pilot or Explorer
    2nd: Highlander
    3rd: Nissan Pathfinder
    4th: Dodge Durango
    5th: KIA Sorento
    6th: Hyundai Santa Fe
    That would be my list. The new Explorer and Pilot are super attractive. If I had the $, I'd buy both.

      Dennis Xu My explorer says thank you lol people have actually complimenting me one it a few times no joke and I didn't even buy a luxurious variant mines the base well technically it's my parents wanted a reliable and attractive car with decent saftey,practicality and efficiency for around 30k just because they don't like spending a lot on cars well I would say the explorer is all of that and more.

    Let's see where we are next year for the 2016-2017 Midsize SUV Comparison Test when the newly redesigned Mazda CX-9 and the new Volkswagen Atlas arrive for the 2017 Model year. As far as KBB, I have a noticed a "lack" of American vehicles in this class, In defense The Traverse, Enclave, Acadia, and the Dodge Durango are considered "Full Size" The new 2016 Ford Explorer just recently came out. I'm surprised the KBB didn't also include the Dodge Journey and the "other" Ford vehicle that fits this category the Ford Flex. They are also 3 row Midsize SUV/Crossover.

  • @cbadics
    @cbadics 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Mid size should have been Edge, Murano, grand Cherokee, Santa Fe sport and maybe Equinox. Then do a separate 3 row test with explorer, traverse, Durango and all the ones in this video.

    • @Lucky8s
      @Lucky8s 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chuck Badics It's weird. The Edge and Explorer are both classified as mid-sized crossovers. Same goes for the Murano and Pathfinder.

      +WuWei Xu The Ford Flex is also considered Midsize. Also Nissan still has the X-Terra which is also Midsize. Toyota also has three midsize SUV/CUV's: Venza and 4-Runner (two row) and the Highlander.

The three row: Highlander, Pilot, Santa Fe, Sorento LX or EX V6, Explorer. Nissan and Ford have three vehicles each that are considered Midsize: Nissan has the Murano and X-Terra (2 row) and the Pathfinder (3 row); Ford has the Edge (two row) and the Explorer and Flex (3 row)

Honestly as long as you avoid the DC transmission in the Fiesta and focus you'll be fine most fords aside from those two have improved so much in terms of reliability it's not even funny.

    Out of all five vehicles I will choose Santa Fe over all of those options! Clearly KBB was trying to sell Highlander, who knows maybe it was Toyota's commercial under KBB name?!!! Highlander simply has nothing special to be on top of all!!! I've test drove all of these vehicles (besides new generation Pilot) and I can assure that Highlander and Pathfinder would be last 2 vehicles on my list to choose. Santa Fe surly has lot more advantages than others (huge panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated second row seats, heated and cooled front two seats, memory seat for a driver, smart lift gate, climate control for third row seats, engine has more horsepower than any of its competitors, Infinity sound system with 12 speakers which isn't offered by other its low class competitors, towing capacity is 5000 lbs. and etc). Anyways, I found this video to be very obviously one sided in favor to Toyota. KBB when you do reviews next time please do it fairly and complete in details, so people can make correct decisions or don't make videos at all like this!!!!

      Just about all the features you listed are also available on the others. So that's an odd argument. The Santa Fe has the cheapest most dated interior. The 3 best vehicles here are the Highlander, Sorento, and Pilot.

      +Megan Toms i agree the expedition is ford's full size entry but i also agree with + Bill Dingo we aren't seeing any american entries

      Megan Toms oh yes, but the durango is classified as full size suv but still compared to these suvs i guess this video is biased and im sure if they put the durango on this comparison it will blow its doors. best looking, best infotainment system, more space i believe,great towing capacity and also has a v8 fire power. the new explorer will do great

      Kyle Justin I agree with you 100% the Durango is a full size but if it was midsize it would be one of the best if not the best in the category and the brand new Explorer would probably do awesome as well

    I'm looking for a non luxury, excellent manufactured vehicle that performs, be used as a camper and lasts. All the computerized electrical Gizmo's break, needs a tech to fix and added expense. PEOPLE cannot afford maintenance

    Out of this group a '16 Pilot EX-L is your best bet. Avoid that POS 9 speed.
    Be aware Pathfinders are NOT RELIABLE. Ugly front clip but you will like the interior. A lease makes sense but don't buy one.

      Seems like the Highlander is the best bet... and that's based on looks alone.

      +Khemistry 3rd row headroom sucks. You sit on the seats, not in them. It does look good inside and out. Dump Entune and offer Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The engine could use Cylinder Deactivation to bump up those MPG numbers.
      Now a Pilot with a 9 speed would be one of the worst choices.

      Have you ever owned a Pathfinder? I have a 2003 LE model and there hasn't been a single problem since. My friend had a 2006 Honda Pilot and it clunked out on him in 2013. Pathfinder's are very capable and reliable vehicles and I believe that they're more durable than Highlander's of Pilot's.

      +ssjMaximum22Goku The current Pathfinder with it's CVT issues is nothing like a 2003. I leased a 2012 Pilot, the only issues were a squeaky 2nd row, USB port wasn't connected in the center console and a TPMS warning which was due to excess moisture in the tire so I just filled it with nitrogen.

    Not an entirely honest comparison and lack of other SUVs:
    1) The Highlander is very outdated just like the Pathfinder.
    2) Not to mention, Highlander has worse 3rd row seating than Sorento.
    3) Pilot, Santa Fe XL, and Sorento received great results since their refresh.
    This was a misleading comparison and I can't help but question KBB's motives on this one. Very different than their usual reliable videos.
