      Do you remember the scene with the striking belters. The father with his small daughter, who gave her a game pad, before the Earth navy killed them all albeit they were begging to accept their surrender. Do you remember this scene. These actions fueled the deep hatred of the Belters for Earth.
      It is, like today, the elites who are to blame. War to the palaces, peace to the huts.
      The Clintons, the Bezos', the Gates of this world. They are all guilty beyond forgiveness. They rig the system via lobbying, highly paid positions in the private sector after a political career, donations and other ways of influence to their benefit, bypassing all democratic principles. That why they got tax loop holes, can water down regulations, social and environmental standards, and also get away with literally murder (=> Epstein) to evermore increase their wealth and power at our expense.

The TV show does not show the atrocities made by the inners. You could say inner is the west and Mars is like the Russia/China both commited crimes against humanity. And belters are like people in Palestine, Kashmir, Aparthaid South Africa and African slaves.

This so-called "peace treaty" would have never lasted anyway. Sooner or later things would have dialed back and the exploitation of belt would have resumed again.
      We beltalowda never wanted an Earther to tell us how to run the belt. With Marco we have a leader who truly understands our pain. Now with protomolecule in our possession, the inners will take us seriously. They will learn to fear us and will think twice before taking our resources. No belter will live on the mercy of inner planets anymore!

    The brilliant part of Inaros is that you don't have to look too far to find people like him. People who look at history like a scoreboard and seek a twisted form of historical revenge for every perceived wrongdoing committed against their group. The problem is that, like in the show, history is not black and white with villains and monsters on both sides of every fight. And the terribly terrifying thing about Inaros and people like him is that, in their mind, they're completely justified in every horrible thing they do. It doesn't matter what evils they commit and how many bodies end up stacked at the bottom because it's all for the sake of rebalancing the scales. When you think you're on the side of the angels, you can justify pretty much everything because the ends will always justify the means.
    Even if the means include doing something as monumentally suicidal as devastating the only planet in the solar system naturally capable of supporting human life.

    • @Marth667
      @Marth667 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      In the books apparently 15 billion people died on earth with millions dying on mars. I think this goes beyond a score board. Not that I don't agree with you as he and other like him see history very much as a point scoring system its just that this act of violence and savagery goes beyond any sort of point scoring. Make no mistake, this was an attempt at annihilation of earth, if all eight of those rocks hit, all of earth would end as the biosphere would completely collapse and stay ruined for millennia to come. Inaros has just permanently fucked earths biosphere for hundreds of years and couldn't complain one bit if the inners launched a nuclear first response against all belter outposts and stations. Palas, tycho, ceres and ganymede would all be legitimate targets to be glassed and of the millions living in the belt, it would count less then 1% of inner losses.
      Now I haven't read the books, but normally at this stage of a conflict peace would be impossible and belters regardless if they agreed or disagreed with inaros would be hunted down like dogs and killed. I'm sure there are other periods in history this has happened, but one case of total annihilation occurred when the roman empire defeated carthage in the 3rd punic war. Rome then went out of its way to enslave, butcher, loot and burn carthage and its citizens so much so that they reduced the whole city to rubble and afterward cursed the ruins so as to not be resettled by people. Inaros having completed such an attack should by normal standards, doomed all belters with his wanton savagery to a life of violence and ignoble ends.

    The cool thing about this villain is that in a way he's not totally wrong. What he just did to Earth is exactly what Earth has done to the Belt throughout the series. Since the start of the show, the Inners have slaughtered the inhabitants of Anderson Station, methodically eradicated the population of Eros for their own gain, and exported their own war against Mars away from their people, into the Belt, causing destruction. of Ganymede and the death of many belters civilians. If Earth and Mars have regularly slaughtered the Belt, it is only because the Belt could not defend itself or counterattack. And season 4 shows that despite the peace that Fred Johnson has imposed, the Inners are doing everything to recover their power by trying to oust the OPA from the Rings and by appropriating Worlds already colonized by belters refugees. In a sense, we can say that by this attack the Terrans reaped what they sowed, and that this revolution is necessary to prevent further massacres in the Belt.
    And on the other hand, despite all these arguments ... Marco Inaros is a war criminal who has just killed hundreds of millions of innocent people who asked for nothing. What he has done is monstrous. He is evil.
    I love this contradiction.

    • @Ares99999
      @Ares99999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Except... no, its not. What Marco did is not at all what 'Earth' has done to the belt throughout the series. If Earth AND Mars had been intent on 'slaughtering' the Belters, the Belters would have been largely dead before the series began.
      Also, 'Inners' did not slaughter people on Anderson Station, or 'Methodically eradicated Eros'. It was a cabal of corrupt people on Mars, Earth, and, yes, some Belters, who ultimately caused these tragedies. The war itself was also something created by these corrupt few. It should be pointed out that the groups who moved against those events contained 'Inners'. In fact, without that one stubborn guy who wanted to do the right thing - the 'Inner' Holden - things would have been far worse.
      As for 'the Terrans reaped what they have sowed', are you serious? Half of Earth is on Basic, they're too busy scraping by to worry about whats going on in the Belt, much less 'do' anything to it. Most of the rest never went to space there's 31+ billion people on Earth. Even 1 of those 31 being involved in some way, shape or form is wildly optimistic. But for the sake of argument, lets say that: 1 out of 31, that's 3.23%. Let's be generous and say that's the proportion on Earth that's involved, most of them unknowingly, in what's happening in the Belt.
      Let's say these attacks took out 1 billion - and that's likely a small number compared to reality. It means that on 1000 millions, Marco killed 967.7 million innocents, including, what... 200 million Earth children and teens.
      Inaros killed more children and teens than there are people in the ENTIRE Belt (which is 50 to 100 million people). Let that sink in. How have these kids 'reaped what they sowed'? Are they guilty because of the few corrupt officials in the rogue Cabal?
      And if that's the case, following that logic all the way, doesn't that make ALL Belters guilty of Marco's crime? Doesn't that mean, when Earth and Mars come along for retribution (forget the Protomolecule, Holden will either get it back or destroy it), should all Belters be guilty and have 'reaped what they sowed?'
      That's why I say: Marco Inaros was COMPLETELY wrong. One side killing 10 people is not made right by killing 20,000 (which is the proportion of the 'Inner' and 'Belter' atrocities.
      It pisses me off, this excusing a terrorist and trying to say he's got a point. He doesn't have a POINT. All he has is an atrocity committed on millions and millions of innocents.

    He went way too far in saying that earth and mars couldn't operate outside their own atmosphere. He pretty much told them they can't even go to their own moons without it being a violation. He left them no choice but to violate it and get hit. And that's a big part of what rallied everyone against him.

    I can't really disagree with inaros here. Almost the entire economy of the solar system was dependant on resources of the belt and hence the labor of belters. And how were the belters treated?! Like absolute garbage. The story of Fred Johnson and Anderson station is just an example of how inners treated belters. The inners pushed the belt to the point of desperation and in their desperation they relied on a man like inaros to help attain their independence and freedom that they desire and be free from the oppression of the inners. They brought this on themselves, they pushed the belt to the point of desperation and they pushed back.

      What Marco did was wrong, but the inner planets arguably brought this on themselves for their continuous mistreatment of belters. The OPA even tried to play by their rules in season 4, but weren't taken seriously then. For better or worse, they are being taken seriously now.

      Love how you make killing millions sounds legit when the only culprits are still alive and well, for most. You say "The Inners" as if each of them were responsible of this, when it's hardly even 0,01% of them who did all of this. It's easy to justify mass murdering when everyone's put in the same basket. What Marco Inaros really did, was killing almost as many innocent lives that there is Beletrs in the Galaxy. And that is all.

    Less a freedom fighter more a wannabe dictator. History shows that many people who have sought to lead oppressed people's end up becoming just as bad as their oppressors, Marco may be fictional but he is a reflection of sooooo many others like him throughout human history. There are oppressors and there are the oppressed, and Marco is just another oppressor.

    I'm not sure I'm cool with the decision with Fred they made. From what I've researched his arc is slightly different in the books from what happened this season.

      Without dwelving into book spoilers: it's true that Fred hadn't died at this point in the books yet, but I see why they made the choice to kill him off early. I think it works, but I'm curious to see how they are going to adapt his 'original' death in Babylon's Ashes (Book 6).
