I'm kind of both types. I was already a pretty fast knitter with continental, but because of carpal tunnel issues in past years, I also learned how to do the English style of knitting or knitting with the right hand. If I tired of one method, I could switch and do the other. I also like to look for tips on knitting faster (not so much for speed but for more efficiency of that method). I also agree with all your tips as they all factor into our knitting, especially your last tip. Knitting faster doesn't always mean productivity if you are sacrificing by not paying attention or being careless, making multiple mistakes and having to correct them. Sometimes it just nice to knit at a nice pace (not your fastest) and that feels a lot better and is much more productive. Plus I think it keeps you from getting as burned out by knitting in general. I'd rather knit at a comfortable pace and not make a lot of mistakes. That's when I'm truly productive and happy as a knitter. Great video and tips!

    You sing great!
Great singing. It will be interesting to hear you sing these songs and then to hear knitting versions of the songs. Thank you.

Thanks for telling us what DPNs are. I hadda go to the internet and look it up. I want to learn how to knit, so I'm looking at all these videos so I can learn how to do it proficiently before I learn some bad habits.
As wisdom comes from a multitude of counselors, the Bible says, I am finding out that a lot of knitters can knit but not all of them know the best way. Some of them make mistakes even while they are teaching against the mistakes that they themselves are making and cannot see.I think we all know people like that. That is why this is such good good advice. It makes weeding the garden much easier.
Thank you for delightful, punny, informative video. I had not heard the purposes of those different textured needles, and had no clue of how they would affect in my workability.

Friends tell me a knit fast but I don’t, I just knit a lot! No desire to necessarily up the speed, just enjoy the journey.

Great tips! I am the 2nd type of knitter who wants to be faster so I can knit more things. What I've come to realize is that I may not be the fastest knitter but I knit evenly and consistently and generally get a really nice fabric without having to frog much. I've tried knitting continental because I've heard that's faster but I usually just end up with a hot mess and move that yarn back to my right hand where it belongs 🙃

Thank you! What it means to be a "fast knitter" is certainly in the hands of the marker. Personally I will always take frogging less and having great tension over squeaking out an extra stitch per minute.

@@CarrieCraftGeek I do a hot mess too when trying to learn continental knitting, so very awkward! I was taught the English way 50 some years ago. I’m not in a hurry when I knit. I pick up my knitting when I need to relax it’s therapeutic for me, yet my mood deciphers how tight my knitting is. I know when my stitches look and feel looser I’m all better haha. Sometimes I will work on a sample that I keep to learn new stitches on until I knit out my tenseness and then I will pick up the project that I want to finish without boo-boo’s. Thanks mom for the lessons!

I wanted to make hats to donate so ai wanted to make them faster. I purchased a round knitting machine to make them. Everything else I make with needles 😊

Excellent reason to want to make more faster, and machine knitting is definitely the way to go. I am fascinated by the knitting machines.
